Renormalized Perturbation Approach for Examination of Itinerant-Localized Duality Model for Strongly Correlated Electron Systems

Yukihiro Okuno, Osamu Narikiyo, Kazumasa Miyake

We present a microscopic examination for the itinerant-localized duality model which has been proposed to understand anomalous properties of strongly correlated systems like the heavy fermions by Kuramoto and Miyake, and also useful to describe the anomalous properties of the high-Tc cupurates. We show that the thermodynamic potential of the strongly interacting Hubbard model can be rearranged in the form of duality model on the basis of renormalized perturbation expansion of the Luttinger-Ward functional if the one-particle spectral weight exhibits triple peak structure. We also examine the incoherent degrees of freedom described as a ``localized spin'' and show on the basis of the pertubation expansion that there exists commensurate superexchange-type interaction among the ``localized spins''.

Three-Body Problem in the One-Dimensional Hubbard Model

Jun-ichi Igarashi

Electron correlation is studied in the special case of a single reversed spin in an otherwise fully aligned band in the one-dimensional Hubbard model for the purpose of examining our previous theory which exactly takes account of the three-body correlation. The importance of the three-body correlation is demonstrated through a comparison of our results with those of exact theories. The ground-state energy and the single particle spectra are in good agreement with McGuire-Lieb-Wu's exact solution and also with exact numerical solutions for finite size systems over a wide range of the intraatomic Coulomb integral and the electron number. The properties of the ground state are studied in detail through the calculation of pair correlation functions.

Single-particle properties of the extended Hubbard model in the composite operator method

Adolfo Avella, Francesco Paolo Mancini, M. M. Sánchez

Strongly correlated electron systems with planar structure, like high{Tc superconductors, are currently under intensive study. In the search for a realistic model to describe the anomalous behaviors of these systems, we have studied the 2D Extended Hubbard model by means of the Composite Operator Method. The local properties, the density of states and the Fermi surface have been calculated as functions of the model parameters.Particular attention has been paid to the role played by the intersite interaction V which drives important changes in the electronic properties of the system.
