Generation of Multipartite Entangled States Using Switchable Coupling of Cooper-Pair-Boxes

Abstract

We propose a scheme for a switchable coupling between several Cooper-pair boxes in the charge regime. The switch is embodied in a SQUID element contained in the center conductor of a transmission-line resonator. Altering the flux bias through the SQUID allows for changing the effective resonator length. Thus the position of the nodes and anti-nodes of the relevant eigenmodes changes and leads to a variable interaction strength between qubit and cavity vacuum field. For the coupled qubits the interaction is dispersive. An example for the application of this switch is the generation of multipartite entangled states for three and four charge qubits. Although used as a discrete switch in the present proposal, the combined system of SQUID module integrated into the transmission line may be operated continuously as well.

Generation of entangled coherent states of two cavity fields via coupling to a SQUID-based charge qubit

Jie‐Qiao Liao, Le‐Man Kuang

We propose a scheme to generate entangled coherent states (ECSs) of two microwave cavity fields coupling to a SQUID-based Cooper pair box (CPB) charge qubit by extending the single-cavity model of coupling between a single microcavity and a CPB charge qubit proposed by Liu et al (2005 Phys. Rev. A 71 063820). We show that by measuring the states of the CPB charge qubit, ECSs of the two cavity fields can be generated with a controllable interaction between the cavities and the CPB charge qubit.

A simple scheme to generate χ-type four-charge entangled states in circuit QED

We propose a simple scheme to generate χ-type four-charge entangled states by using SQUID-based charge qubits capacitively coupled to a transmission line resonator (TLR). The coupling between the superconducting qubit and the TLR can be effectively controlled by properly adjusting the control parameters of the charge qubit. The experimental feasibility of our scheme is also shown.

Generation of maximally entangled charge-qubit arrays via a cavity mode

Alexandre Guillaume, Jonathan P. Dowling

We describe an assembly of N Cooper-pair boxes (CPB) contained in a single mode cavity. In the dispersive regime, the correlation between the cavity field and each Cooper-pair box results in an effective interaction between CPBs that can be used to dynamically generate maximally entangled states. With only collective manipulations, we show how to create maximally entangled quantum states and how to use these states to reach the Heisenberg limit in the determination of a spectroscopy frequency. This scheme can be applied to other types of superconducting qubits.

Multipartite entanglement in the interaction system between a single-mode microwave cavity field and superconducting charge qubits

Shi Zhen-Gang, Xiongwen Chen, Zhu Xi-Xiang +1 more

This paper proposes a method of generating multipartite entanglement through using d.c. superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID) inside a standing wave cavity. In this scheme, the d.c. SQUID works in the charge region. It is shown that, a large number of important multipartite entangled states can be generated by a controllable interaction between a cavity field and qubits. It is even possible to produce entangled states involving different cavity modes based on the measurement of charge qubits states. After such superpositions states are created, the interaction can be switched off by the classical magnetic field through the SQUID, and there is no information transfer between the cavity field and the charge qubits.

Practical one-step synthesis of multipartite entangled states on superconducting circuits

Rui Tao, Xiao-Tao Mo, Zheng‐Yuan Xue +1 more

Quantum entanglement is an important resource for quantum information processing tasks. However, realistic multipartite entangled state production is very difficult. In this paper, we propose an efficient single-step scheme for generating many body Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states on superconducting circuits by using a superconducting transmission-line resonator (TLR) interact with [Formula: see text] superconducting transmon qubits. The distinct merit of our proposal is that it does not require the qubit-resonator coupling strengths to be the same, which is usually impractical experimentally, and thus is one of the main reasons for entanglement generation infidelity in previous single-step schemes. The removing of the uniform interaction requirement is achieved by modulating the qubits splitting frequencies with ac microwave fields, which results in tunable individual qubit-resonator coupling strength, and thus effective uniform qubit–qubit interaction Hamiltonian can be obtained. Since microwave control is conventional nowadays, our proposal can be directly tested experimentally, which makes previous multipartite entangled states generation schemes more efficient.
