Abstract

Quantum entanglement is an important resource for quantum information processing tasks. However, realistic multipartite entangled state production is very difficult. In this paper, we propose an efficient single-step scheme for generating many body Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states on superconducting circuits by using a superconducting transmission-line resonator (TLR) interact with [Formula: see text] superconducting transmon qubits. The distinct merit of our proposal is that it does not require the qubit-resonator coupling strengths to be the same, which is usually impractical experimentally, and thus is one of the main reasons for entanglement generation infidelity in previous single-step schemes. The removing of the uniform interaction requirement is achieved by modulating the qubits splitting frequencies with ac microwave fields, which results in tunable individual qubit-resonator coupling strength, and thus effective uniform qubit–qubit interaction Hamiltonian can be obtained. Since microwave control is conventional nowadays, our proposal can be directly tested experimentally, which makes previous multipartite entangled states generation schemes more efficient.

Single-step multipartite entangled states generation from coupled circuit cavities

Xiao-Tao Mo, Zheng‐Yuan Xue

Green–Horne–Zeilinger states are a typical type of multipartite entangled states, which plays a central role in quantum information processing. For the generation of multipartite entangled states, the singlestep method is more preferable as the needed time will not increase with the increasing of the qubit number. However, this scenario has a strict requirement that all two-qubit interaction strengths should be the same, or the generated state will be of low quality. Here, we propose a scheme for generating multipartite entangled states of superconducting qubits, from a coupled circuit cavities scenario, where we rigorously achieve the requirement via adding an extra z -direction ac classical field for each qubit, leading the individual qubit-cavity coupling strength to be tunable in a wide range, and thus can be tuned to the same value. Meanwhile, in order to obtain our wanted multi-qubits interaction, xdirection ac classical field for each qubit is also introduced. By selecting the appropriate parameters, we numerically shown that high-fidelity multi-qubit GHZ states can be generated. In addition, we also show that the coupled cavities scenario is better than a single cavity case. Therefore, our proposal represents a promising alternative for multipartite entangled states generation.

Efficient Entanglement Generation of Two Superconducting Qubits in a Circuit QED

Run‐Ying Yan, Zhi‐Bo Feng

Abstract The optimal generation of entangled states is of significance to information processing and state engineering. Here, an efficient scheme is proposed for creating entangled states between two superconducting qubits in a circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED). The two qubits that resonantly interact with a common cavity mode of transmission‐line resonator (TLR) can be effectively coupled by the data bus of the microwave resonator. By the invariant‐based shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA), two types of maximally entangled states can be controllably induced only by adjusting the Rabi drivings. Based on the resonant drivings with constant rates, the shortcut strategy is capable of implementing faster operations when compared with the dispersive approach. The fidelities are highly robust against the decoherence effects and the instabilities of Rabi rates. Thus the proposal could offer a potential route toward the entanglement generations in an optimized manner.

Generation of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger States on Two-Dimensional Superconducting-Qubit Lattices via Parallel Multiqubit-Gate Operations

Wei Feng, Guo-Qiang Zhang, Qi-Ping Su +2 more

A recent major technological breakthrough in superconducting circuits is the realization of more than 50 qubits arranged on two-dimensional (2D) lattices with tunable nearest-neighbor couplings. We propose a protocol to generate Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states on 2D superconducting-qubit lattices by applying multiqubit controlled-$i$swap gates in parallel. The multiqubit gate can be naturally implemented based on an effective three-body interaction, which can be synthesized with appropriate detunings and coupling strengths between qubits. We simulate the preparation process of GHZ states with realistic parameters, and show a $37$-qubit GHZ state can be generated with a controlled-$i$swap depth of $3$. Our proposal provides a more promising method of generating GHZ states on the latest 2D superconducting-qubit architectures and will stimulate the preparation of multiqubit entangled states based on multiqubit gates.

Implementing a nonpairwise three-body interaction of superconducting qubits and its applications in realizing three-qubit entanglement and quantum gates

Tong Liu

Nonpairwise multibody interactions have recently attracted much attention due to their promising applications in the realm of quantum information science and technology. In this work, we propose a method to synthesize a nonpairwise three-body interaction of superconducting qubits using a coupler qubit dispersively coupled to two spatially separated qubits and a microwave pulse. This interaction describes physical processes of an excitation from the coupler qubit to two spatially separated qubits and the reverse process. We show that the interaction can be utilized to deterministically generate three-body Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled states, transfer the state of the coupler qubit into a two-qubit entangled state, and construct three-qubit controlled-controlled-phase and Toffoli gates. Our proposal only requires a coupler qubit and a single-step operation; thus, the system architecture and method are quite simple. As examples, we numerically simulate the dynamics of the system, and the numerical results demonstrate that high-fidelity preparation of the proposed three-body GHZ entangled state and quantum gates is feasible with current superconducting circuit technology. This approach is general and applicable to a wide range of quantum systems.

Efficient preparation of high-dimensional hybrid entangled states in circuit quantum electrodynamics

Wang-Chu Lv, Wentao Zhao, Yu Wang +6 more

High-dimensional quantum systems, known as qudits with dimension $d>2$, possess the capability to encode and process more information than traditional two-dimensional qubits. Entangled states serve as crucial resources for both quantum computation and quantum communication. On the basis of circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED) systems, we introduce an efficient scheme to deterministically generate high-dimensional multipartite entangled states of hybrid qutrits ($d=3$). Assuming a simple initial state has already been prepared with the use of local operations, our method requires only a single step to produce hybrid Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled states among circuit QED systems consisting of superconducting qutrits and a superconducting cavity. Remarkably, the number of steps and the operational time remain constant as the number of qutrits increases, highlighting the efficiency and scalability of our approach. Using numerical simulations for a three-dimensional hybrid GHZ state of seven qutrits, we demonstrate the feasibility of our scheme and study the effects of various parameters on the fidelity. The importance of this research is in directing the experimental creation of multipartite, high-dimensional, and hybrid GHZ states, which can then be used to enhance quantum communication protocols and computational processes.

Deterministic generation of Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger entangled states of cat-state qubits in circuit QED

Chui‐Ping Yang, Zhen-Fei Zheng

We present an efficient method to generate a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled state of three cat-state qubits via circuit QED. The GHZ state is prepared with three microwave cavities coupled to a superconducting transmon qutrit. Because the qutrit remains in the ground state during the operation, decoherence caused by the energy relaxation and dephasing of the qutrit is greatly suppressed. The GHZ state is created deterministically, because no measurement is involved. Numerical simulations show that the high-fidelity generation of a three-cqubit GHZ state is feasible with the present circuit QED technology. This proposal can be easily extended to create a N-cqubit GHZ state (N≥3), with N microwave or optical cavities coupled to a natural or artificial three-level atom.
