Abstract

Green–Horne–Zeilinger states are a typical type of multipartite entangled states, which plays a central role in quantum information processing. For the generation of multipartite entangled states, the singlestep method is more preferable as the needed time will not increase with the increasing of the qubit number. However, this scenario has a strict requirement that all two-qubit interaction strengths should be the same, or the generated state will be of low quality. Here, we propose a scheme for generating multipartite entangled states of superconducting qubits, from a coupled circuit cavities scenario, where we rigorously achieve the requirement via adding an extra z -direction ac classical field for each qubit, leading the individual qubit-cavity coupling strength to be tunable in a wide range, and thus can be tuned to the same value. Meanwhile, in order to obtain our wanted multi-qubits interaction, xdirection ac classical field for each qubit is also introduced. By selecting the appropriate parameters, we numerically shown that high-fidelity multi-qubit GHZ states can be generated. In addition, we also show that the coupled cavities scenario is better than a single cavity case. Therefore, our proposal represents a promising alternative for multipartite entangled states generation.

Practical one-step synthesis of multipartite entangled states on superconducting circuits

Rui Tao, Xiao-Tao Mo, Zheng‐Yuan Xue +1 more

Quantum entanglement is an important resource for quantum information processing tasks. However, realistic multipartite entangled state production is very difficult. In this paper, we propose an efficient single-step scheme for generating many body Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states on superconducting circuits by using a superconducting transmission-line resonator (TLR) interact with [Formula: see text] superconducting transmon qubits. The distinct merit of our proposal is that it does not require the qubit-resonator coupling strengths to be the same, which is usually impractical experimentally, and thus is one of the main reasons for entanglement generation infidelity in previous single-step schemes. The removing of the uniform interaction requirement is achieved by modulating the qubits splitting frequencies with ac microwave fields, which results in tunable individual qubit-resonator coupling strength, and thus effective uniform qubit–qubit interaction Hamiltonian can be obtained. Since microwave control is conventional nowadays, our proposal can be directly tested experimentally, which makes previous multipartite entangled states generation schemes more efficient.

Efficient preparation of high-dimensional hybrid entangled states in circuit quantum electrodynamics

Wang-Chu Lv, Wentao Zhao, Yu Wang +6 more

High-dimensional quantum systems, known as qudits with dimension $d>2$, possess the capability to encode and process more information than traditional two-dimensional qubits. Entangled states serve as crucial resources for both quantum computation and quantum communication. On the basis of circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED) systems, we introduce an efficient scheme to deterministically generate high-dimensional multipartite entangled states of hybrid qutrits ($d=3$). Assuming a simple initial state has already been prepared with the use of local operations, our method requires only a single step to produce hybrid Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled states among circuit QED systems consisting of superconducting qutrits and a superconducting cavity. Remarkably, the number of steps and the operational time remain constant as the number of qutrits increases, highlighting the efficiency and scalability of our approach. Using numerical simulations for a three-dimensional hybrid GHZ state of seven qutrits, we demonstrate the feasibility of our scheme and study the effects of various parameters on the fidelity. The importance of this research is in directing the experimental creation of multipartite, high-dimensional, and hybrid GHZ states, which can then be used to enhance quantum communication protocols and computational processes.

Entangling superconducting qubits in a multi-cavity system

Chui-Ping Yang, Qi-Ping Su, Shi‐Biao Zheng +1 more

Important tasks in cavity quantum electrodynamics include the generation and control of quantum states of spatially separated particles distributed in different cavities. An interesting question in this context is how to prepare entanglement among particles located in different cavities, which are important for large-scale quantum information processing. We here consider a multi-cavity system where cavities are coupled to a superconducting (SC) qubit and each cavity hosts many SC qubits. We show that all intra-cavity SC qubits plus the coupler SC qubit can be prepared in an entangled Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state, by using a single operation and without the need of measurements. The GHZ state is created without exciting the cavity modes; thus greatly suppressing the decoherence caused by the cavity-photon decay and the effect of unwanted inter-cavity crosstalk on the operation. We also introduce two simple methods for entangling the intra-cavity SC qubits in a GHZ state. As an example, our numerical simulations show that it is feasible, with current circuit-QED technology, to prepare high-fidelity GHZ states, for up to nine SC qubits by using SC qubits distributed in two cavities. This proposal can in principle be used to implement a GHZ state for an arbitrary number of SC qubits distributed in multiple cavities. The proposal is quite general and can be applied to a wide range of physical systems, with the intra-cavity qubits being either atoms, NV centers, quantum dots, or various SC qubits.

Generation of a GHZ-type optical entangled coherent state without measurements

Tong Liu, Y. H. Zhou, Qi‐Cheng Wu +1 more

Typically, multipartite entangled coherent states are difficult to be extended and produced without measurement. We here propose a way to deterministically generate a GHZ (Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger)-type entangled coherent state of cavities, utilizing a system consisting of a single superconducting qutrit (i.e., a three-level quantum system) and multiple microwave cavities. Due to the use of only a coupler qutrit, the architecture of the circuit system is quite simple. More importantly, our proposal does not require measurement on the state of qutrit compared with the previous proposals. Since the qutrit's third energy level is not populated during the operation, decoherence from the higher energy level is greatly minimized. Furthermore, the entire operation time is independent of the number of microwave cavities. As an example, our numerical simulations show that high-fidelity generation of a three-cavity GHZ-type entangled coherent state is feasible with present circuit quantum electrodynamics technology. This proposal is universal and can be applied to other physical systems, such as microwave or optical cavities, which are coupled to a single natural or artificial three-level atom.

Generation of hybrid Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger entangled states of particlelike and wavelike optical qubits in circuit QED

Yu Zhang, Tong Liu, Jun‐Long Zhao +2 more

Hybrid entanglement between particlelike and wavelike optical qubits has drawn increasing attention because such hybrid entanglement is a key resource in establishing hybrid quantum networks and connecting quantum processors with different encoding qubits. For convenience, we define ``particlelike optical qubits'' as PO qubits and ``wavelike optical qubits'' as WO qubits. In this work, we propose a method to create a hybrid Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled state of $n$ PO qubits and $n$ WO qubits, by using $2n$ microwave cavities coupled to a superconducting flux qutrit. The two logic states of a PO qubit here are represented by the vacuum state and the single-photon state of a cavity (or represented by the rotated states of the vacuum state and the single-photon state), while the two logic states of a WO qubit are indicated by the two coherent states of a cavity. The procedure for preparing the GHZ state consists of only a few basic operations, and the circuit resources are significantly reduced because of using only one flux qutrit as the coupler. The GHZ-state preparation time does not depend on the number of qubits, and the GHZ state is deterministically generated since no measurement is made. In addition, the intermediate higher-energy level of the qutrit during the entire operation is virtually excited and thus decoherence from this level is greatly suppressed. This proposal is quite general and can be extended to create the proposed hybrid GHZ state, by using a $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}$-type natural or artificial atom coupled to $2n$ microwave or optical cavities. As an example, our numerical simulation demonstrates that within current circuit-QED technology, the hybrid GHZ state of two PO qubits and two WO qubits can be prepared with a high fidelity.
