Abstract

Abstract Based on the quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation (QMA-EUR), we study the quantum phase transition (QPT) of a spin-1/2 frustrated Heisenberg chain and show that QMA entropy can be a useful tool to detect QPT. For the six-site case, we choose the reduced two-site as the detecting system and obtain the analytical result of QMA entropy and its bound. We find that the QMA entropy of the ground state is discontinuous at the first-order QPT point. Meanwhile for the excited state, the catastrophe point of QMA entropy approaches the infinite-order QPT point, which is confirmed by the numerical results in the 8-, 10- and 12-site cases. Moreover, we study the behavior of QMA entropy undergoing the dephasing process. Interestingly, two-site QMA entropy can still indicate the QPT point when the state degenerates into a mixed state. In this sense, QMA entropy is more effective than quantum correlation in reflecting the quantum criticality.

Quantum memory assisted entropic uncertainty relation as a signature of quantum phase transition in the spin XXZ model

Cheng‐Cheng Liu, Ze-Wei Sun, Xiao‐Gang Fan +4 more

Uncertainty principle establishes a remarkable lower bound to predict the measured outcome of two non-commuting observables. In this paper, based on the quantum renormalization-group method, we study the relation between quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation (QMA-EUR) and quantum phase transition (QPT) in the spin XXZ model. The results shows that the entropic uncertainty and the lower bound have similar traits. In addition, we propose two schemes, one is based on quantum discord and classical correlation, the other Holevo quantity and mutual information, both can tighten the bound of EUR in the presence of quantum memory. The tighter the entropy uncertainty relationship is, the higher the accuracy of the predicted results will be. Moreover, we can obtain the optimal lower bound with the help of Holevo quantity and mutual information, which have the best optimization effect in this model. Additionally, we study QPT by virtue of EUR and after a certain number of iterations, finding that the value of QMA-EUR of the whole block-block state can form two saturated values, which are related to two different phases: spin-fluid phase and Néel phase. Afterwards, we discover that the QMA-EUR of the block-block state obeys the nonanalytic and scaling properties with entropic uncertainty relation exponent associated with correlation length. Our findings show that QMA-EUR deserves to be used as an effective tool in reflecting quantum criticality for more quantum many-body systems and may also shed light on many applications in quantum physics including the quantum key distribution, the detection of QPT and the evaluation of the capacity of quantum computation in critical systems.

Reduced State Stabilizer Rényi Entropy as a Probe of Quantum Phase Transitions in Frustrated J_1-J_2 Spin Models

George Biswas, Santanu Sarkar, Jun-Yi Wu +1 more

We investigate whether the second-order purity-corrected stabilizer Rényi entropy (SRE) of reduced two-qubit density matrices can serve as a reliable local indicator of quantum phase transitions (QPTs) in frustrated quantum spin systems. We consider the one-dimensional isotropic \(J_1-J_2\) Heisenberg model, the one-dimensional XXZ \(J_1-J_2\) model, and the two-dimensional \(J_1-J_2\) Heisenberg model on a \(4\times4\) square lattice. Unlike several previously studied quantum information measures, which fail to detect QPTs in the ground state of these frustrated systems, the reduced ground-state purity-corrected SRE successfully identifies most transitions. For the remaining cases, we consider a low temperature subjacent state, modeled as a statistical mixture of the ground and first excited states with a Maxwell--Boltzmann-type occupation probability. For the 1D isotropic model, the subjacent-state SRE shows a discontinuity at the critical point, yielding \(α_c(\infty)=0.24116\), in excellent agreement with established values; the ground-state SRE shows a point of inflection, yielding \(α_c(\infty)=0.2681\). For the 1D XXZ model, the subjacent-state SRE reproduces the full anisotropy dependent phase diagram, while the ground-state SRE captures transitions only at low anisotropy. For the 2D model, the subjacent-state SRE detects two transitions, at \(α_c(4\times4)=0.40781\) and \(0.6208\), while the ground-state SRE identifies the second at \(0.6230\). Compared with conventional two-qubit entanglement, purity-corrected SRE shows a clear advantage in revealing otherwise-invisible phase transitions, establishing it as a robust, efficient, local probe of frustrated quantum criticality.

Quantum discord and quantum phase transition in spin-1/2 frustrated Heisenberg chain

Chu-Hui Fan, Heng-Na Xiong, Yixiao Huang +1 more

By using the concept of the quantum discord (QD), we study the spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with next-nearest-neighbor interaction. Due to the $SU(2)$ symmetry and $Z_{2}$ symmetry in this system, we obtain the analytical result of the QD and its geometric measure (GMQD), which is determined by the two-site correlators. For the 4-site and 6-site cases, the connection between GMQD (QD) and the eigenenergies was revealed. From the analytical and numerical results, we find GMQD (QD) is an effective tool in detecting the both the first-order and the infinite-order quantum-phase-transition points for the finite-size systems. Moreover, by using the entanglement excitation energy and a universal frustration measure we consider the frustration properties of the system and find a nonlinear dependence of the GMQD on the frustration.

Uncertainty Relation and Quantum Phase Transition in the Two-Dimensional Ising Model

Yu‐Yan Fang, Tian‐Yi Jiang, Xinye Xu +1 more

By using quantum renormalization group (QRG) approach, we first derive the effective Hamiltonian and QRG equations of the two-dimensional (2D) Ising models with two different time-dependent transverse magnetic fields analytically. Then we examine the nonanalytic and scaling behaviors of the linear-entropy-based uncertainty relation and quantum entanglement of the models near the critical point through numerical analysis. Moreover, we investigate the relation between the quantum critical point and the external magnetic field. Our results show that both the uncertainty relation and the quantum entanglement are feasible to detect the quantum phase transition (QPT), and the uncertainty relation may be a better indicator of QPT than quantum entanglement. Our findings could shed new light on the observable of the QPTs of the solid-state system with the uncertainty relation.

Quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation in a Heisenberg XYZ chain with an inhomogeneous magnetic field

Dong Wang, Ai-Jun Huang, Fei Ming +4 more

Abstract The uncertainty principle provides a nontrivial bound to expose the precision for the outcome of the measurement on a pair of incompatible observables in a quantum system. Therefore, it is of essential importance for quantum precision measurement in the area of quantum information processing. Herein, we investigate quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation (QMA-EUR) in a two-qubit Heisenberg X Y Z spin chain. Specifically, we observe the dynamics of QMA-EUR in a realistic model there are two correlated sites linked by a thermal entanglement in the spin chain with an inhomogeneous magnetic field. It turns out that the temperature, the external inhomogeneous magnetic field and the field inhomogeneity can lift the uncertainty of the measurement due to the reduction of the thermal entanglement, and explicitly higher temperature, stronger magnetic field or larger inhomogeneity of the field can result in inflation of the uncertainty. Besides, it is found that there exists distinct dynamical behaviors of the uncertainty for ferromagnetism ( J < 0 ) and antiferromagnetism ( J > 0 ) chains. Moreover, we also verify that the measuring uncertainty is dramatically anti-correlated with the purity of the bipartite spin system, the greater purity can result in the reduction of the measuring uncertainty, vice versa. Therefore, our observations might provide a better understanding of the dynamics of the entropic uncertainty in the Heisenberg spin chain, and thus shed light on quantum precision measurement in the framework of versatile systems, particularly solid states.

Reduced fidelity and quantum phase transitions in spin-1/2 frustrated Heisenberg chains

Heng-Na Xiong, Jian Ma, Yan Wang +1 more

We use reduced fidelity to characterize quantum phase transitions in the one-dimensional spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with frustration. For the ground state and the low-lying excited states, explicit results of the reduced fidelities between the nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor spins are given in both the even-size and odd-size cases. We find the reduced fidelity is an effective tool in detecting the quantum phase transitions associated with level crossings for the finite-size systems. Interestingly, the reduced fidelity between next-nearest-neighbor spins is evidently more sensitive at the quantum phase transition points than the nearest-neighbor case. Moreover, the reduced fidelity of the low-lying excited states is a good indicator both for the first-order and infinite-order quantum phase transitions of the system.
