Abstract

Abstract We propose a scheme whereby we optimized the driven pulses applied on qubits to realize fast and robust population of quantum state transfer and entanglement generation between four superconducting flux qubits based on adiabatic passage. The quantum state was transferred from one qubit to another directly with high fidelity through applying an inverted set of pulses. Moreover, the resident time of the quantum state populated on the qubits could be controlled by adjusting the time delay between the driven pulses during the transfer process. Analysis of the dynamics demonstrates that the scheme is insensitive to inhomogeneous qubit–resonator coupling, and even for large detuning regimes of the qubit–resonator interaction, high-fidelity quantum state transfer and entanglement generation can be obtained. Our results also show that the effect of decoherence due to resonator decay and qubit relaxation could be negligible with currently existing technology.

Controllable high-fidelity quantum state transfer and entanglement generation in circuit QED

We propose a scheme to realize controllable quantum state transfer and entanglement generation among transmon qubits in the typical circuit QED setup based on adiabatic passage. Through designing the time-dependent driven pulses applied on the transmon qubits, we find that fast quantum sate transfer can be achieved between arbitrary two qubits and quantum entanglement among the qubits also can also be engineered. Furthermore, we numerically analyzed the influence of the decoherence on our scheme with the current experimental accessible systematical parameters. The result shows that our scheme is very robust against both the cavity decay and qubit relaxation, the fidelities of the state transfer and entanglement preparation process could be very high. In addition, our scheme is also shown to be insensitive to the inhomogeneous of qubit-resonator coupling strengths.

Microwave-activated quantum state transfer and entanglement generation among five to seven qubits

Zi-Han Qi, Zhi-Hang Sun, Peng Xu

Abstract We propose a scheme for the rapid and high-fidelity transmission of quantum states and the generation of entanglement among at least five qubits in a circuit quantum electrodynamics system, based on optimized microwave-driven pulses. By designing appropriate microwave pulses applied to the qubits, quantum state transfer among five or more qubits can be realized, enabling bidirectional transfer and control over the residence time of quantum states on any arbitrary qubit by adjusting the parameters of the driving pulses. Furthermore, by optimizing the microwave pulse parameters, the scheme facilitates the creation of entangled states involving five or more qubits in a time-efficient manner. Additionally, we evaluate the fidelity of the transferred quantum state and the generated entanglement, taking into account the effects of decoherence. The results demonstrate that the proposed scheme enables high-fidelity quantum state transfer and entanglement generation with minimal photon leakage from the cavity and energy relaxation of the qubits.

Coherent state transfer between superconducting qubits via stimulated Raman adiabatic passage

Danyu Li, Wen Zheng, Ji Chu +11 more

Coherent quantum state transfer is a vital step in quantum information processing. Based on the stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP), we realize robust quantum state transfer between two superconducting qubits, mediated by a tunable coupler. Utilizing parametric coupling techniques, we construct the STIRAP Hamiltonian by modulating the coupler frequency. A population transfer fidelity of 95.1 (±2.0)% is achieved and is consistent with the numerical simulation result of 95.4%. By preparing the initial state in the maximal superposition state of one qubit, we research how the phase of the transferred state is related to the modulation pulses. We also find that the transfer process is robust against the fluctuation of modulation frequency. Numerical simulation confirms that our state transfer scheme is more robust than non-adiabatic protocols.

REALIZATION OF FAST QUANTUM INFORMATION TRANSFER AND ENTANGLEMENT WITH SUPERCONDUCTING FLUX QUBITS COUPLED TO A RESONATOR

Yawei Wang, Shaoyan Gao, Aiping Fang +2 more

We propose a scheme of realization of fast quantum information transfer and two-qubit entangled state with two different superconducting flux qubits coupled to a single-mode resonator. In this approach, the two lowest levels of each Λ-type flux qubit serve as the logical states and a higher-energy intermediate level is used as the gate manipulation. This proposal does not require equal device parameters for the two flux qubits that is extremely difficult to achieve experimentally. In addition, neither a second-order detuning nor auxiliary qubits are required in this scheme. Moreover, there is no need to change the Rabi frequencies to satisfy the adiabatic passage. Therefore, the operation time can be shortened to 20–30 ns, which is faster by one order of magnitude compared to the schemes employing the second-order detuning technique.

Speeding up the Generation of Entangled State between a Superconducting Qubit and Cavity Photons via Counterdiabatic Driving

Run‐Ying Yan, Zhi‐Bo Feng, Ming Li +2 more

Abstract Optimal generation of entangled states is of critical significance for robust quantum information processing. An effective scheme is presented for speeding up the generation of an entangled state between a superconducting qubit and microwave photons via counterdiabatic driving. At a magic bias point, the first three levels of a charge‐phase quantum circuit constitute an effective qutrit. An entangled state based on adiabatic population transfer is first achieved. By the technique of shortcuts to adiabaticity, a counterdiabatic driving is applied to the qutrit, which then accelerates the entanglement generation significantly. Moreover, with the accessible decoherence rates, the rapid operations in a shortcut way are highly robust when compared with adiabatic manipulations. The scheme could offer a promising approach toward optimal preparation of entangled states with superconducting artificial atoms in circuit quantum electrodynamics, experimentally.

Error-insensitive preparation of entangled states between a Josephson qubit and microwave photons via invariant-based shortcuts

Run‐Ying Yan, Xiao-Jing Lu, Ming Li +3 more

Optimal preparation of quantum entanglement is of significance to information processing and state engineering. In this paper, an efficient scheme is proposed to implement error-insensitive generation of entangled states between a Josephson qubit and microwave photons by the technique of invariant-based shortcuts to adiabaticity. A superconducting qubit is dispersively coupled to a quantized cavity field of one-dimensional transmission line resonator. Within a considered subspace spanned by three composite states, we deal with an effective interaction of the composite system with two classical drivings. A maximally entangled qubit-photon state can be deterministically induced using a splitting-like quantum state transfer. To nullify the deviation errors of Rabi coupling and frequency detuning, we optimize the driving parameters and then make the entanglement creation insusceptible to these control imperfections. Thanks to the mitigation of deviation effects, robustness against the residual noisy environment could be obtained numerically. The proposed strategy could provide a promising avenue towards fast and robust information processing with superconducting circuit quantum electrodynamics.
