We present experimental results on single-photon generation using compact chromatically-coupled resonators on an SOI platform. We measure a purity of 96%, beyond the 92% purity limitation of conventional structures, in agreement with our simulated model.

High spectro-temporal purity single-photons from silicon micro-racetrack resonators using a dual-pulse configuration

Ben M. Burridge, Imad I. Faruque, John G. Rarity +1 more

Single-photons with high spectro-temporal purity are an essential resource for quantum photonic technologies. The highest reported purity up until now from a conventional silicon photonic device is 92% without any spectral filtering. We have experimentally generated and observed single-photons with 98.0 ± 0.3 % spectro-temporal purity, an upper bound of the stimulated emission tomography, using a conventional micro-racetrack resonator and an engineered dual pump pulse.

High Spectro-temporal Purity Single-photons Using Pump Pulse Engineering in Silicon Micro-racetrack Resonators

Ben M. Burridge, Imad I. Faruque, John Rarity +1 more

Single photons with high spectro-temporal purity are critical for photonic quantum information processing. We engineer laser pulses driving a micro-racetrack resonator to obtain SFWM photons with 98.0±0.3% purity, surpassing traditional 92% purities.
