Abstract

Abstract We introduce a functional version of the Kato one-parameter regularization for constructing a dynamical semigroup generator of a relative bound-one perturbation. As an example of an application, we consider a regularization based on a boson-number cutoff.

ON DYNAMICS OF AN OPEN BOSON SYSTEM

Valentin Anatol'evich Zagrebnov

The core property of generator and the trace-preserving property of a minimal dynamical semigroup constructed by regularisation à la Kato are scrutinised for a simple boson model in the framework of the Gorini-Kossakowski-Lindblad-Davies approach to the open systems.

On Singular Perturbations of Quantum Dynamical Semigroups

A. S. Holevo

We consider two examples of quantum dynamical semigroups obtained by singular perturbations of a standard generator which are special case of unbounded completely positive perturbations studied in detail in [11]. In Sec. 2, we propose a generalization of an example in [15] aimed to give a positive answer to a conjecture of Arveson. In Sec. 3 we consider in greater detail an improved and simplified construction of a nonstandard dynamical semigroup outlined in our short communication [12].

Instantaneous Sobolev Regularization for Dissipative Bosonic Dynamics

Pablo Costa Rico, Paul Gondolf, Tim Möbus

We investigate quantum Markov semigroups on bosonic Fock space and identify a broad class of infinite-dimensional dissipative evolutions that exhibit instantaneous Sobolev regularization. Motivated by stability problems in quantum computation, we show that for certain Lindblad operators that are polynomials of creation and annihilation operators, the resulting dynamics immediately transform any initial state into one with finite expectation in all powers of the number operator. A key application is in the bosonic cat code, where we obtain explicit estimates in the trace norm for the speed of convergence. These estimates sharpen existing perturbative bounds at both short and long times, offering new analytic tools for assessing stability and error suppression in bosonic quantum information processing. For example, we improve the strong exponential convergence of the (shifted) $2$-photon dissipation to its asymptotic channel to the uniform topology. For multi-mode systems, a generation theorem in concentrated single-sandwich norms supplies the domain properties required for the regularization argument.

Unbounded Generators of Dynamical Semigroups

I. Siemon, Alexander Semenovich Holevo, Reinhard F. Werner

Dynamical semigroups have become the key structure for describing open system dynamics in all of physics. Bounded generators are known to be of a standard form, due to Gorini, Kossakowski, Sudarshan and Lindblad. This form is often used also in the unbounded case, but rather little is known about the general form of unbounded generators. In this paper we first give a precise description of the standard form in the unbounded case, emphasizing intuition, and collecting and even proving the basic results around it. We also give a cautionary example showing that the standard form must not be read too naively. Further examples are given of semigroups, which appear to be probability preserving to first order, but are not for finite times. Based on these, we construct examples of generators which are not of standard form.

Nonlinear semigroups with unbounded generators under Carleman linearization

Sitanshu Gakkhar, Ala Shayeghi, David C. Del Rey Fernández

We treat the convergence of Carleman linearization of nonlinear evolutionary equations through the approximation theory of strongly continuous semigroups, by Carleman embedding the underlying nonlinear semigroups as linear semigroups. Linear semigroup theory then lets one replace the norm constraint on the convergence of Carleman linearization in the form used by quantum algorithms for a class of semi-discretized evolution equations by a dissipativity constraint, simplifying arguments for convergence. Applying Trotter-Kato approximation theorem to the linearized semigroup realizes the semigroup as a limit finite dimensional operator exponentials, reducing the question of convergence rate of Carleman linearization to that of the Trotter-Kato approximation. We then examine convergence of the Carleman linearization as the operators become unbounded, treating the hyperviscuous Burger's equation as an example. Next we consider the perturbation theory of the Carleman semigroup and obtain conditions when polynomial nonlinearities correspond to the Carleman linearized semigroup being a $1$-integrated semigroup, so convergence is implied by variants of Trotter-Kato approximation for integrated semigroups.

Weak-Coupling Limit. II On the Quantum Fokker-Planck Equation

David Taj

In a recent work we have found a contraction semigroup able to correctly approximate a projected and perturbed one-parameter group of isometries in a generic Banach space, in the limit of weak-coupling. Here we study its generator by specializing to $W^*$-algebras: after defining a Physical Subsystem in terms of a completely positive projecting conditional expectation, we find that it generates a Quantum Dynamical Semigroup. As a consequence of uniqueness and strong generality (well defined dynamics, irrespective of the Physical Subsystem spectral properties or dimensions), its generator deserves to be referred as "the" Quantum Fokker-Planck Equation. We then provide important examples of the limit dynamics, one of which constitutes a new Quantum generalization of the celebrated Fermi Golden Rule.
