Abstract

Based on fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, we present a method for a rigorous analytic construction of the spectra of the one- and two-photon Jaynes-Cummings models in a Kerr medium. To obtain an idea of the method, we consider a first generalized Jaynes-Cummings model with a real, linear superpotential using techniques of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. The Hamiltonian of this model is written as a combination of operators generating the underlying superalgebra whose elements are defined as differential matrix operators. Based on the formalism of supersymmetric quantum mechanics and the properties of sets of common observables, we derive solutions of the one- and two-photon models expressed in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions. Finally, using numerical analysis, we study the influence of the Kerr effect on the energy spectra of the physical system.

Full Analytic Spectrum of Generalized Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonians

Adjimon Joseph Adanmitonde, Gabriel Y. H. Avossevou

We develop an analytic formalism using basic quantum mechanics techniques to successfully solve the multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings and the generalized Dicke Hamiltonians. For this, we split the Hamiltonians of these models into two operators that have the properties of constants of motion for these systems. We then use some well-known operator properties to obtain complete analytic spectra for the considered models.

The supersymmetric Jaynes–Cummings model and its solutions

Abdulaziz D Alhaidari

The super-algebraic structure of a generalized version of the Jaynes–Cummings model is investigated. We find that a Z 2 graded extension of the so (2,1) Lie algebra is the underlying symmetry of this model. It is isomorphic to the four-dimensional super-algebra u (1/1) with two odd and two even elements. Differential matrix operators are taken as realization of the elements of the superalgebra to which the model Hamiltonian belongs. Several examples with various choices of superpotentials are presented. The energy spectrum and corresponding wavefunctions are obtained analytically.

Supersymmetry as an Algebraic Approach to the Jaynes-Cumming Model with Stark Shift and Kerr-Like Medium

Rasha M. Farghly, Mohamed Abdal-Mubark, Sara Mohamed

Supersymmetry arguments are used to derive the wave function of a two-level atom interacts with a single mode cavity field through a multi-photon transition in the presence of a Kerr-like medium and Stark term. The supersymmetric operators related to the atomic system are introduced to diagonalize the Hamiltonian with a canonical transformation technique. Also, the eigenvalues spectrum and eigenvectors are exactly given.

Solving a Generalized Jaynes-Cummings Model by Supersymmetric Unitary Transformation

Lu Huai-Xin, Wang Xiao-Qin, Fan Hong-Yi

For the generalized Jaynes-Cummings model Hamiltonian which can describe two collectively radiation atoms, we find its supersymmetric structure. Based on supersymmetric quantum mechanics theory, we introduce a supersymmetric unitary transformation, in which the supersymmetric unitary transformation operator can be constructed by supersymmetric generators of the super-Lie algebra, to diagonalize the Hamiltonian. On doing so, its eigenvalue and eigenstates are obtained.

Biorthogonal quantum mechanics for non-Hermitian multimode and multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings models

Jean Vignon Vignon Hounguevou, F. A. Dossa, Gabriel Y. H. Avossevou

We develop a biorthogonal formalism for non-Hermitian multimode and multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings models. For these models, we define supersymmetric generators, which are especially convenient for diagonalizing the Hamiltonians. The Hamiltonian and its adjoint are expressed in terms of supersymmetric generators having the Lie superalgebra properties. The method consists in using a similarity dressing operator that maps onto spaces suitable for diagonalizing Hamiltonians even in an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space. We then successfully solve the eigenproblems related to the Hamiltonian and its adjoint. For each model, the eigenvalues are real, while the eigenstates do not form a set of orthogonal vectors. We then introduce the biorthogonality formalism to construct a consistent theory.

Fluorescence spectrum of a two-level atom interacting with a quantized field in a Kerr-like medium

Amitabh Joshi, S. V. Lawande

A generalized Jaynes-Cummings model when an ideal cavity is filled with a Kerr-like medium is considered. The fluorescence spectrum produced by such a system using the infinity of transitions among the dressed states of the Jaynes-Cummings model is analyzed. A large number of resonances in the spectra are observed that are sensitive to the initial field statistics as well as the nonlinearity of the medium. Also, the fine structure of the spectra gets considerably modified by increasing the nonlinearity of the Kerr-like medium.
