Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the security capability of single-input multiple-output wireless transmission systems over k-μ shadowed fading channels in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. Our security analysis relies on an important standard, i.e., average secrecy capacity which is more difficult and suitable for analyzing active eavesdropping scenario than secure outage probability and probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity. The novel expression of average secrecy capacity over k-μ shadowed fading channels with multiple eavesdroppers is deduced. The results of Monte Carlo simulation fully prove the correctness of our theoretical derivation. Through the obtained results, we observe that large antenna quantity in the highest signal-to-noise ratio regime, small number of the eavesdroppers, and small signal-to-noise-ratio of eavesdropping link will enhance confidentiality of the system under consideration.

Secrecy Performance Analysis of SIMO Systems Over Correlated $\kappa$ –$\mu$ Shadowed Fading Channels

Jiangfeng Sun, Hongxia Bie, Xingwang Li +3 more

In this paper, the secrecy performance of single-input-multiple-output systems over correlated κ-μ shadowed fading channels is investigated. In particular, based on the classic Wyner's wiretap model, we derive analytical expressions for secure outage probability (SOP) and the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) over correlated κ-μ shadowed fading channels. In order to further study the impact of channel parameters on the secrecy performance, novel SOP and the probability of SPSC over independent and identically distributed κ-μ shadowed fading channels are also obtained. In addition, we discuss the asymptotic expressions of the SOP and the SPSC. The match between the analytical results and simulations is excellent for all parameters under considerations. It is interesting to find that the results show that when the signal-to-noise ratio of the main channel is lower than that of the eavesdropping channel, the larger value of correlation coefficient is helpful to improve the secrecy performance and vice versa.

Secrecy performance analysis of single-input multiple-output generalized-K fading channels

Hongjiang Lei, Imran Shafique Ansari, Chao Gao +3 more

In this paper, the transmission of confidential messages through single-input multiple-output (SIMO) independent and identically generalized- K ( K G ) fading channels is considered, where the eavesdropper overhears the transmission from the transmitter to the receiver. Both the receiver and the eavesdropper are equipped with multiple antennas, and both active and passive eavesdroppings are considered where the channel state information of the eavesdropper’s channel is or is not available at the transmitter. The secrecy performance of SIMO K G systems is investigated. Analytical expressions for secrecy outage probability and average secrecy capacity of SIMO systems are derived via two different methods, in which K G distribution is approximated by the Gamma and mixture Gamma distributions, respectively. Numerical results are presented and verified via the Monte-Carlo simulation.

In this paper, we consider the transmission of confidential message through single-input-multiple-output (SIMO) identically and independent generalized-K fading channels in the presence of an eavesdropper. We derive the analytical expressions for the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC), secure outage probability (SOP), and average secrecy capacity (ASC) of SIMO systems. Numerical results are presented and verified via Monte Carlo simulation.

Impact of Correlation on the Security in Multicasting through κ - µ Shadowed Fading Channels

Md. Najib Ibrahim, M. Z. I. Sarkar, A. S. M. Badrudduza +2 more

This paper focuse on the secrecy performance analysis over correlated κ - μ shadowed fading multicast channels considering a single input multiple output (SIMO) scenario. The proposed network consists of a single antenna source, and multiple receivers and eavesdroppers which are equipped with multiple antennas. The security analysis has been performed by developing a mathematical model and deriving the novel closed-form expressions(CFEs)of the performance matrices such as probability of non-zero secrecy multicast capacity (PNSMC) and secure outage probability for multicasting (SOPM). The secrecy capacity and outage characteristics of the multicast network has been investigated for the simultaneous presence of correlation and shadowing and it is observed that impact of each system parameter can be evaluated perfectly using the derived expressions. Finally, the analytical results has been verified by Monte-Carlo Simulations.

Physical Layer Security of TAS/MRC Over κ-μ Shadowed Fading Channel.

José David Vega Sánchez, Diana Pamela Moya Osorio, F. Javier López‐Martínez +2 more

This paper investigates the impact on the achievable secrecy performance of multiple-input multiple-output systems by dealing with realistic propagation conditions. Specifically, we focus on the $\kappa$-$\mu$ shadowing fading model, which has proven to be more accurate in characterizing mm-wave scenarios than traditional Rice and Rayleigh ones. By considering transmit antenna selection and maximal ratio combining at the receiver ends, we study two different scenarios, namely: (i) the transmitter has knowledge of the channel state information (CSI) of the eavesdropper link, and (ii) the transmitter does not know eavesdropper's CSI. Based on these assumptions, we derive novel analytical expressions for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the average secrecy capacity (ASC) to assess the secrecy performance in passive and active eavesdropping scenarios, respectively. Moreover, we develop analytical asymptotic expressions of the SOP and ASC at high signal-to-noise ratio regime. Some useful insights on how to obtain noticeable improvements in the secrecy performance are also provided.

Secrecy Mutual Information of the Independent and Identically Distributed Nakagami-q Fading SIMO Channel

Md. Sohidul Islam, Mohammad Rakibul Islam

In this paper, we consider an independent and identically distributed Nakagami-q fading single-input multiple-output (SIMO) channel, where the transmitter sends some confidential message to the legitimate receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper. Both the receiver and the eavesdropper have multiple antennas. We formulated the probability of non-zero secrecy mutual information, secure outage probability, and ergodic secrecy mutual information for the SIMO wireless communication system. The calculations have been carried out using small limit argument approximation on zeroth-order modified Bessel function of first kind. This approximation provides decent results in the low signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) regime. In the low-SNR regime, either the transmission power is small or the bandwidth is large. In either case, it is difficult for an eavesdropper to detect the signals in this regime. We present that in the presence of fading, positive secrecy mutual information is achievable even when the eavesdropper has better SNR than the main channel. We also found in our work that at low-SNR regime, the effect of number of eavesdropper's channel on average secrecy mutual information is almost negligible.
