Quantum master equation for a system of identical particles

Boris Volodumurovich Bondarev

We consider an open quantum many-particle system in which there are dissipative processes. The evolution of this system is described by a kinetic equation for the density matrix. From the equation describing a random Markov process in this system, we obtain an equation for the single-particle statistical operator. This equation describes the evolution of a system of identical particles in a mean-field approximation. The equation for interacting particles in thermodynamic equilibrium was obtained. The distribution function of a system of interacting electrons in metals has multivalence in a certain region of wave vectors. Among many solutions one is isotropic. Other solutions have the anisotropy of the electron distribution over the wave vectors. The anisotropy arises as a result of repulsion and attraction between electrons.

General algebraic theory of identical particle scattering

G. Bencze, Edward F. Redish

We consider the nonrelativistic N-body scattering problem for a system of particles in which some subsets of the particles are identical. We demonstrate how the particle identity can be included in a general class of linear integral equations for scattering operators or components of scattering operators. The Yakubovskii, Yakubovskii–Narodestkii, Rosenberg, and Bencze–Redish–Sloan equations are included in this class. Algebraic methods are used which rely on the properties of the symmetry group of the system. Operators depending only on physically distinguishable labels are introduced and linear integral equations for them are derived. This procedure maximally reduces the number of coupled equations while retaining the connectivity properties of the original equations.

Phase-space quantum mechanics study of two identical particles in an external oscillatory potential

Luis Miguel Nieto, Manuel Gadella

This simple example is used to show how the formalism of Moyal works when it is applied to systems of identical particles. The symmetric and antisymmetric Moyal propagators are evaluated for this case; from them, the correct energy levels of energy are obtained, as well as the Wigner functions for the symmetric and antisymmetric states of the two identical particle system. Finally, the solution of the Bloch equation is straightforwardly obtained from the expressions of the Moyal propagators.
