Abstract

Matters involved with security are those fatal matters in wireless communication field. In this paper, the security problem of SISOMR (single input single output with multiple relay-nodes) wireless channel is analyzed and solved in detail. The SISOMR wireless channel with artificial noise is designed to prevent eavesdropping. However, the artificial noise may be invalid probably due to the inherent security weakness. The SISOMR scheme is not safe through our matrix analysis. Therefore, a Relay-nodes Transmission Parameter Optimization (RTPO) scheme is proposed to fix the design flow in order to enhance the original one. Finally, the secrecy capacity of RTPO-SISOMR is introduced.

Security is an important issue in the field of wireless communication. In this paper, the security problem of Single-input Single-output Multiple-helpers (SISOMH) wireless channel is considered. The SISOMH wireless channel, where artificial noise is utilized, is designed to prevent eavesdropping. But the artificial noise may be invalid due to the inherent security weakness. We point out that the SISOMH scheme is not safe through by matrix analysis. Then, a Helper Transmission Parameter Optimization (HTPO) scheme is proposed to fix the flow.

Research on the Security of MISO Wireless Channel with Artificial Noise

Xiao Chen, Fangbiao Li, Zhi Xue +4 more

Security is an important issue in the field of wireless communication. In this paper, the security problem of Multiple-inputs Single-output (MISO) wireless channel is considered. To ensure the security of communication, the transmitter utilizes some of the available power to produce 'artificial noise' that only degrades the eavesdropper's channel. But the artificial noise may be invalid possibly due to the inherent security weakness. We research the vulnerability of the MISO wireless channel with artificial noise (MISOAN) through vector analysis. Then a Blind Space Elimination (BSE) scheme is proposed and proved to fix the design flaw in order to strengthen the original one.

The Secrecy Capacity Optimization Artificial Noise: A New Type of Artificial Noise for Secure Communication in MIMO System

Yebo Gu, Zhilu Wu, Zhendong Yin +1 more

In multiple-input multiple-output wireless communication system, artificial noise (AN) is designed to be aligned into the null space of the legitimate channel so that it has no effect on the legitimate channel. Meanwhile, AN will reduce the secrecy capacity of the eavesdropping channel so that AN increase the secrecy capacity of the wireless communication system. Nevertheless, AN technology only pays attention to the CSI of the legitimate channel but does not pay attention to the CSI of the eavesdropping channel so that the secrecy capacity of the system can be further improved. In this paper, we analyze the performance of traditional AN. A secrecy capacity optimization artificial noise for the whole communication system to further improve the system's secrecy capacity is proposed. The secrecy capacity optimization artificial noise is considered as a kind of artificial noise which is disadvantageous to the legitimate receiver but more disadvantageous to the eavesdropper. Furthermore, we further analyzed the technical details of AN technology and found the key factor affecting the secrecy capacity. Meanwhile, the secrecy capacity optimization artificial noise is effectively designed by applying these conclusions and the key factors of secrecy capacity optimization artificial noise affecting the secrecy capacity of the wireless communication system are described. The analysis and simulation results in practical environments show that the proposed method has a good performance on improving the secrecy capacity.

Secure Transmission with Artificial Noise of MIMO Systems: Secrecy Rate and BER Performance

Zhiyue Zhao, Fuyuan Liu, Xin Gou +2 more

At present, there has been a large amount of research on secrecy rate optimization. However, the reliability analysis of secure transmission is equally important although relatively less attention has been dedicated to. Therefore, this paper proposes a secure transmission method with artificial noise for the physical layer security issues in the transmission process of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) wireless communication systems. Firstly, we establish an artificial noise assisted MIMO systems model. Then, the channel state information (CSI) matrix is subjected to singular value decomposition to obtain the reasonable precoding and artificial noise matrices. Finally, the impact of artificial noise on the bit error rate performance of potential eavesdropper is analyzed, and based on the analysis, the problem of maximizing the system secrecy rate is established. The concave-convex procedure (CCCP) method is used to obtain the optimal power allocation, which significantly improves the security of MIMO systems. The simulation results show that using the null space of CSI matrix and artificial noise for signal encryption effectively improves the bit error rate of potential eavesdropping nodes. In addition, the secrecy rate obtained by the CCCP algorithm is consistent with the performance obtained by the particle swarm optimization algorithm, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Security protection over wireless fading channels by exploiting frequency selectivity

Mukhtar Hussain, Qinghe Du, Li Sun +1 more

Secure wireless communication has always been a hot research topic due to the vulnerabilities associated with wireless channel. Physical layer aspects to secure wireless communication, based on the information-theoretic security and signal processing methods have gained much recognition over the last decade. Specifically, artificial noise (AN) methods are assumed to be good means for providing security against potential eavesdroppers in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems and/or relay systems. However, there are still a large number of nodes which do not have multi-antennas or support sophisticated protocols in wireless networks. In this paper, a novel AN-aided method is proposed to secure wireless communications between the legitimate users (not equipped with multiple antennas) in the presence of an eavesdropper. In this proposed method frequency selective property of wireless channel is exploited. The basic principle is same in which transmitter generate random AN signal utilizing some of the transmission power to confuse eavesdropper. However artificial noise is generated in such a way that it appears to be zero at the sampling time, only for the legitimate receiver while degrading eavesdropper's channel. Artificial noise is specified using the channel state information (CSI) of the legitimate users' link. However, the secrecy of proposed scheme doesn't depend on the secrecy of CSI. Extensive simulation suggests that the proposed scheme can effectively utilized for securing wireless transmissions.
