Abstract

The security problem of Gaussian MIMO (multipleinputs multiple-outputs) channel is considered where a transmitter is communicating to a receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper. All the nodes are equipped with multiple antennas.Through utilizing some of the available power to produce 'artificial noise' that only degrades the eavesdropper's channel, the transmitter ensures the security of communication. However, the artificial noise could be void possibly due to the inherent security weakness. In this paper, the vulnerability of the MIMO wireless channel with artificial noise (MIMOAN) through matrix analysis is researched. Then a Matrix Blind Space Elimination (MBSE) scheme is proposed and proved to fix the design flaw in order to strengthen the original one.

Security in MIMO wireless hybrid channel with artificial noise

Security is an important issue in the field of wireless channel. In this paper, the security problem of Gaussian MIMO wireless hybrid channel is considered where a transmitter with multiple antennas sends information to an intended receiver with one antenna in the presence of an eavesdropper with multiple antennas. Through utilizing some of the power to produce `artificial noise', the transmitter can only degrade the eavesdropper's channel to ensure the security of the communication. But there is an inherent weakness in this scheme. Then a Hybrid Blind Space Elimination (HBSE) scheme is proposed and proved to fix the design flaw in order to strengthen the original scheme.

Research on the Security of MISO Wireless Channel with Artificial Noise

Xiao Chen, Fangbiao Li, Zhi Xue +4 more

Security is an important issue in the field of wireless communication. In this paper, the security problem of Multiple-inputs Single-output (MISO) wireless channel is considered. To ensure the security of communication, the transmitter utilizes some of the available power to produce 'artificial noise' that only degrades the eavesdropper's channel. But the artificial noise may be invalid possibly due to the inherent security weakness. We research the vulnerability of the MISO wireless channel with artificial noise (MISOAN) through vector analysis. Then a Blind Space Elimination (BSE) scheme is proposed and proved to fix the design flaw in order to strengthen the original one.

MIMOME channel secrecy capacity

Mohammad Rakibul Islam, Jinsang Kim, Md Shamsul Arefin

Although conventional cryptographic security mechanisms are essential to the overall problem of security, the openness of wireless medium poses both threats and opportunities for securing transmission. Information theoretic security is attracting researchers for its robust nature. In this paper, a Gaussian multiple input multiple output multiple eavesdropper (MIMOME) channel is considered where a transmitter is communicating to a receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper. The transmitter is equipped with multiple antennas, while the receiver and the eavesdropper also contains multiple antennas. We present a technique for determining the secrecy capacity of the MIMO channel under Gaussian noise. To do so, we transform the channel into multiple single input multiple output (SIMO) Gaussian wiretap channel and then use scalar approach using standard techniques of communications theory. Then we consider the effect of fading and found out the limiting values of the secrecy capacity.

Secret communication in wireless sensor network with perfect channel state information

Mohammad Rakibul Islam

Information theoretic security attracts researchers for its robust nature and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel in the presence of multiple eavesdropper offers an unveiled research area. In this paper, a Gaussian multiple input multiple output multiple eavesdropper (MIMOME) channel is considered where a transmitter communicates to a receiver in the presence of an eavesdropper. We present a technique for determining the secrecy capacity of the MIMO channel under Gaussian noise. We transform the degraded MIMOME channel into multiple single input multiple output (SIMO) Gaussian wiretap channels and then use scalar approach to convert it into two equivalent multiple input single output (MISO) channels. The secrecy capacity model is then developed for the condition where the transmitter has both the main and eavesdropper channel state information (CSI).

Performance Analysis of MIMO Based WLAN Security Using Artificial Noise

K. Ilanchezhian, Ramalingam Gunasundari

Security is one of the major issues in wireless communication system. In a wireless communication system as the transmission of information signal is over the air, eavesdroppers may have easy access to the transmitted data. The conventional network security mainly depends on cryptographic schemes. But as the security level increases, computational complexity will be high and cause complex key management problems. In this paper, the problem of secret communication between two nodes in the presence of a passive eavesdropper is considered. In general, nodes with multiple transmit antenna elements can ensure secure communication using directional antenna. In this paper, MIMO channel with multiple transmit antenna elements utilize fraction of the available power to produce „artificial noise‟ for the improvement of secure communication. The artificial noise is generated by the transmitter in such away that it degrades only the eavesdropper‟s channel. The various performance metrics such as bit error rate, channel capacity, optimal power allocation and secrecy rate were analyzed in the presence of non-colluding and colluding eavesdroppers. The obtained simulation results are compared with the existing work that does not use artificial noise. It is inferred from the results that the proposed work achieves improved secrecy rate than the existing work.
