Fourier Transform of Transfer Matrices of Plane Ising Models

Abstract

This work demonstrates the Fourier transform of the elementary transfer matrix of the generalized twodimensional Ising model with special boundary conditions with a shift (screw type) with the form of a Hamiltonian covering the classical Ising model with an external field, as well as models equivalent to models on a triangular lattice with a chessboard type Hamiltonian (the author plans to consider the general form of interaction in the following publication). Its limit representation is obtained in the form of a sum of integral operators with the size of the system tending to infinity. This allows the actual problem of finding the maximum eigenvalue of the limiting elementary transfer matrix (its Napierian logarithm is equal to the free energy of the system) to be brought to finding the maximum eigenvalue of the sum of integral operators of a fairly simple form. This approach can help solve the problems associated with the large size of the transfer matrices.

Disorder Solutions for Generalized Ising and Potts Models with Multispin Interaction

Pavel Khrapov

In this work, a special elementary transfer matrix is constructed for generalized Ising models and Potts models with the general form of a finite Hamiltonian with a multi-spin interaction in a space of arbitrary dimensionality, the Napierian logarithm of its maximum eigenvalue is equal to the free energy of the system. In some cases, it was possible to obtain an explicit form of the eigenvector corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of the elementary transfer matrix. On this basis we obtained systems of nonlinear equations for the interaction coefficients of the Hamiltonian for finding the exact value of the free energy on a set of disorder solutions. Using the Levenberg-Marquardt method, the existence of nontrivial solutions of the resulting systems of equations for plane and three-dimensional Ising models was shown. In some special cases (the 2D Ising model, the interaction potential, including the interaction of the next nearest neighbors and quadruple interactions; the 3D model with a special Hamiltonian symmetric relative to the change of all spin signs, for which it is possible to reduce the system of equations to the system for a planar model) three parameters are written in explicit form. The domain of existence of these solutions is described.

Spectral density for Ising Model on hypercube lattice

В., Leonid B. Litinskii

For the Hamiltonian of multidimensional Ising system we express the eigenvalues in terms of the spin-spin interaction constants and the well-known eigenvalues of the one-dimensional spin Hamiltonian. In the case of periodic boundary conditions, we can obtain exact analytic expressions for eigenvalues of the multidimensional Hamiltonian for an arbitrary long-range interaction.

Disorder Solutions for Generalized Ising Model with Multispin Interaction

Pavel Khrapov

This study demonstrates a development of convenient formulae for obtaining the value of the free energy in the thermodynamic limit on a set of exact disorder solutions depending on four parameters for a 2D generalized Ising model in an external magnetic field with the interaction of nearest neighbors, next nearest neighbors, all kinds of triple interactions and the four interactions for the planar model, and for the 3D generalized Ising model in an external magnetic field with all kinds of interactions in the tetrahedron formed by four spins: at the origin of the coordinates and the closest to it along three coordinate axes in the first coordinate octant. Lattice models are considered with boundary conditions with a shift (similar to helical ones), and a cyclic closure of the set of all points (in natural ordering). For both the planar model and the 3D model, elementary transfer matrices with nonnegative matrix elements are constructed, while the free energy in the thermodynamic limit is equal to the Napierian logarithm of the maximum eigenvalue of the transfer matrix. This maximum eigenvalue can be found for a special kind of eigenvector with positive components. The region of existence of these solutions is described. The examples show the existence of nontrivial solutions of the resulting systems of equations for plane and threedimensional generalized Ising models. The system of equations and the value of free energy in the thermodynamic limit will remain the same for plane and threedimensional models with Hamiltonians, in which the value of the maximum in the natural ordering of the spin is replaced by the value of the spin at almost any other point in the lattice, this significantly expands the set of models having disordered exact solutions. The high degree of symmetry and repeatability of the components of the found eigenvectors, disappearing when we go beyond the framework of the obtained set of exact solutions, are the reason for the search for phase transitions in the vicinity of this set of disordered solutions. Disorder solutions for generalized 2D Ising Model with multi-spin interaction

Pavel Khrapov

For generalized 2D Ising model in an external magnetic field with the interaction of nearest neighbors, next nearest neighbors, all kinds of triple interactions and the quadruple interaction the formulas for finding free energy per lattice site in the thermodynamic limit were derived on a certain set of exact disordered solutions depending on seven parameters. Lattice models are considered with boundary conditions with a shift (similar to helical ones), and with cyclic closure of the set of all points in natural ordering. The elementary transfer matrix with nonnegative matrix elements are constructed. On the set of disorder solutions the largest eigenvalue of the transfer matrix is constant for every size of considering planar lattice, and, in particular, in the thermodynamic limit. Free energy per lattice site in the thermodynamic limit is expressed through the natural logarithm of the largest eigenvalue of transfer matrix. This largest eigenvalue can be found for a special form of eigenvector with positive components. The numerical example show the existence of nontrivial solutions of the resulting systems of equations. The system of equations and the value of free energy in the thermodynamic limit will remain the same for 2D generalized Ising models with Hamiltonians, in which the values of two (out of four) neighboring maximal spins in the natural ordering are replaced by the values of the spins at any other two lattice points adjacent in the natural ordering, this significantly expands the set of models having disordered exact solutions. The high degree of symmetry and inductive construction of the components of the eigenvectors, which disappear when going beyond the framework of the obtained set of exact solutions, is an occasion to search for phase transitions in the vicinity of this set of disordered solutions.

Integrability and non-integrability in the Ising model

Michael Assis

The Ising model at magnetic field H=0 is one of the most important exactly solved models in statistical mechanics, solved on the square lattice in 1944 by Onsager, and later by others on the triangular lattice; its magnetic susceptibility at H=0 continues to be an unsolved aspect of the model, however. The susceptibility can either be viewed as a sum over all correlation functions of the integrable model at H=0, or else as a second derivative of the free energy of the non-integrable Ising model in a field. Therefore, its analytic properties, though derived from the non-integrable model, can be studied through series expansion of the integrable correlation functions. We begin this process by analyzing the first four terms in the form factor expansion of the diagonal correlation functions, and after summing over the diagonal form factor expansion, the first four terms of the diagonal susceptibility expansion. We have been able to reduce the form factor and susceptibility expansion terms, given as multi-dimensional integrals, to closed-form functions in all cases. Under the limit of H going to infinity with the interaction energy E going to minus infinity, the isotropic Ising model becomes a hard particle lattice gas model, with exclusion of nearest neighbor lattice sites. In this limit, the triangular lattice Ising model becomes the exactly solved hard hexagon model, while the square lattice becomes the non-integrable hard squares model. We study in detail these models for finite lattice sizes in order to understand the differences between integrable and non-integrable models. We consider the partition functions zeros and their density for different boundary conditions, and find notable differences in the density which is attributed to an extra factorization in the transfer matrices of hard hexagons which is absent in hard squares. We also study the special point at fugacity z=-1 of hard squares where all eigenvalues of the transfer matrix are equimodular and where the grand partition function's value depends on boundary conditions. | 300 pages

Finite-lattice form factors in free-fermion models

N. Z. Iorgov, O. Lisovyy

We consider the general -symmetric free-fermion model on the finite periodic lattice, which includes as special cases the Ising model on the square and triangular lattices and the -symmetric BBS τ (2) -model with n = 2. Translating Kaufman's fermionic approach to diagonalization of Ising-like transfer matrices into the language of Grassmann integrals, we determine the transfer matrix eigenvectors and observe that they coincide with the eigenvectors of a square lattice Ising transfer matrix. This allows us to find exact finite-lattice form factors of spin operators for the statistical model and the associated finite-length quantum chains, of which the most general is equivalent to the XY chain in a transverse field.
