Abstract

Multipath fading as well as shadowing is liable for the leakage of confidential information from the wireless channels. In this paper a solution to this information leakage is proposed, where a source transmits signal through a α-µ/α-µ composite fading channel considering an eavesdropper is present in the system. Secrecy enhancement is investigated with the help of two fading parameters α and µ. To mitigate the impacts of shadowing a α-µ distribution is considered whose mean is another α-µ distribution which helps to moderate the effects multipath fading. The mathematical expressions of some secrecy matrices such as the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and the secure outage probability are obtained in closed-form to analyze security of the wireless channel in light of the channel parameters. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are provided to justify the correctness of the derived expressions.

Secrecy Performance Analysis over Inverse Gamma Composite Multicast Fading Channels

Abdulkarim Al Hanif, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Md. Shakhawat Hossen +2 more

Secrecy performance of realistic wireless multicast scenarios are significantly deteriorated by simultaneous occurrence of multipath and shadowing which are modeled using composite fading channels. To resolve this security threat, in this paper a framework is proposed where a source transmits private multicast messages to multiple receivers over η - μ / inverse gamma composite fading channels. A group of eavesdroppers are trying to overhear this secret communication. Perfect secrecy is obtained if eavesdropper can not decode any information from the multicast links. Secrecy analysis is carried out deriving closed-form expressions of two well-known secrecy measures i.e. probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability for multicasting. The impacts of multipath, shadowing and other system parameters on the outage performance of the proposed scenario are quantified using the derived expressions. A generic nature of η - μ / inverse gamma distribution is obtained by showing Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Nakagami-q, η - μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special case of this distribution. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the derived expressions.

On the Enhancement of Secrecy Multicast Capacity over Κ - μ/IG Composite Fading Channel

Md. Shakhawat Hossen, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Abu Hanif +3 more

The confidentiality of wireless multicast network is notably compromised by the concurrent existence of shadowing and fading. To overcome this security threat, mathematical modeling of a multicast scenario is proposed in this paper over κ-μ/ inverse gamma (IG) composite fading channel where transmitted confidential information from source is under malicious attack of multiple eavesdroppers. The well-known physical layer security approach is adopted to analyze the impact of system parameters on secrecy performance in terms of novel expressions of secure outage probability for multicasting, probability of nonzero secrecy multicast capacity and ergodic secrecy multicast capacity. The generalization of security analysis is achieved by demonstrating Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m, κ-μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special scenarios of κ-μ/IG distribution. At the end, analytical results are justified by performing Monte-Carlo Simulations.

Enhancement of Secrecy Multicast Capacity over k - µ Shadowed Fading Channel

A. S. M. Badrudduza, S. M. S. Shahriyer, Milton Kumar Kundu +1 more

This paper illustrates a secure multicast scenario over k- μ shadowed fading channel in the appearance of multiple eavesdroppers. In order to achieve perfect secrecy, it must be ensured that no eavesdropper can decipher any transmitted information from the multicast channels. The secrecy analysis incorporates deriving mathematical expressions for two secrecy matrices such as the ergodic secrecy multicast capacity and the secure outage probability for multicasting. It is observed that proposed k - μ shadowed model unifies secrecy analysis of some well-known classical fading models and the derived expressions can help to quantify the significant impact of shadowing as-well-as other system parameters on secrecy performance. Finally, a close match between the analytical and Monte-Carlo simulation results is shown which validates the correctness of the derived expressions.

Secure Wireless Multicasting over α-η-µ Fading Channel

Shanmuga Priya, Milton Kumar Kundu, Zerin Nusrat +2 more

As the variation of the fading signal can be modeled at a very small scale using α-η-μ fading channel, this paper concentrates on the security performance analysis over the α-η-μ fading multicast channel considering the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. The performance metrics of probability of nonzero secrecy multicast capacity (PNSMC) and secure outage probability for multicasting (SOPM)) for this channel has been analyzed in this work. The effect of the number of receivers, eavesdroppers and total amount of atmospheric fading on the secrecy performance have also been presented by the authors. The results show tremendous improvement in secrecy performance for higher values of fading parameter and smaller number of receivers, and eavesdropper. Finally, verification of the derived closed form expressions (CFEs) for PNSMC and SOPM has been done through Monte-Carlo simulations.

Enhancing Security in Wireless Multicasting over k - µ Fading Channel

A. S. M. Badrudduza, Milton Kumar Kundu

In this paper, a secure wireless multicast network over k - μ fading channel is considered, where a source transmits secret information to a group of receivers. A group of eavesdroppers are also present in the network which are responsible for wiretapping the transmitted information. A perfect secrecy can be obtained if the eavesdroppers are not able to decode any information from the source. In order to investigate the secrecy capacity of the multicast network, at first a novel expression for Ergodic secrecy multicast capacity is derived in closed-form. The outage performance of the proposed network is analyzed obtaining the closed-form expressions of secure outage probability for multicasting. The effects of fading is determined and a beneficent insight is provided into investigating the secrecy performance of some other common fading scenarios such as Rician, Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Gaussian etc. using the derived novel expressions of this paper. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to validate the derived analytical expressions.

Secrecy Performance of α − κ − μ Shadowed Fading Channel

A. S. M. Badrudduza, Sheikh Habibul Islam, Milton Kumar Kundu +1 more

In this paper, the physical layer security aspects of a wireless framework over α−κ−μ shadowed (AKMS) fading channel are examined by acquiring closed-form novel expressions of average secrecy capacity, secure outage probability (SOP), and strictly positive secrecy capacity. The lower bound of SOP is derived along with the asymptotic expression of SOP at the high signal-to-noise ratio regime in order to achieve secrecy diversity gain. Capitalizing on these expressions, the consequences due to the simultaneous occurrence of fading and shadowing are quantified. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are demonstrated to assess the correctness of the expressions.
