Strong photon blockade with intracavity electromagnetically induced transparency in a blockaded Rydberg ensemble

Guang Lin, Yihong Qi, Xiu‐Min Lin +2 more

We consider the dynamics of intracavity electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in an ensemble of strongly interacting Rydberg atoms. By combining the advantage of variable cavity lifetimes with intracavity EIT and strongly interacting Rydberg dark-state polaritons, we show that such an intracavity EIT system could exhibit a very strong photon blockade effect.

Electromagnetic field induced strong two photon blockade with hyperradiant behavior

W. Li, Chengjie Zhu, Yaping Yang

We theoretically study the electromagnetic field controlled photon correlation and radiation properties in a two-atom-cavity quantum electrodynamic (QED) system with different atom-cavity coupling strengths. When two three-level atoms are coherently driven by a probe field and a strong control field, forming a ladder type electromagnetically induced transparency configuration, there exist four different excitation pathways via the two photon processes, yielding four different frequencies for realizing two photon blockades. Carefully choosing the intensity of the control field, resonant single-photon and two-photon excitation can be achieved at the same probe field frequency. Thus, two photon blockade phenomenon can be significantly improved and the collective radiation behavior becomes superradiance or even hyperradiance. Our system presented here can be considered to be a converter of a weak coherent light to two correlated photons.

Electromagnetic control of the collective radiations with three-photon blockade

Yufeng Han, Chengjie Zhu, Jingping Xu +1 more

We study properties of collective radiations of coherently driven two three-level ladder-type atoms trapped in a single-mode cavity. Using the electromagnetically induced transparency technique, we show that the three-photon blockade effect can be observed and the properties of collective radiations are strongly dependent on the phase between two atoms. In the case of in-phase radiations, the frequency range to realize the three-photon blockade can be broadened as the control field increases. However, in the regime of the three-photon blockade, the property of collective radiations changes from hyperradiance to subradiance. In the case of out-of-phase radiations, hyperradiance accompanied with the three-photon blockade can be observed. The results presented in this paper show that our scheme is an attractive candidate to generate antibunched photon pairs and control the properties of collective radiations.
