Optimal Power Allocation for Non-Linear EH Cooperative Network with Multiple Eavesdroppers

Siyang Xu, Xin Song, Lin Xia +3 more

In this paper, the secure information transmission of an energy harvesting (EH) cooperative network is considered, in which multiple eavesdroppers can overhear the forwarded relay signal. To prevent multiple eavesdroppers from decoding confidential signals, the destination transmits the jamming signal while the source transmits the confidential signal to the relay. Simultaneously, the relay can harvest more energy from source signals and destination jamming by the power splitting (PS) protocol, which is depicted as a non-linear EH process. Considering the imperfect self-interference cancellation (SIC) at the destination, secrecy rate maximization optimization is formulated to optimize the transmission power of source and destination. However, the formulated optimization is non-convex. To solve this problem, an iterative algorithm is proposed based on the difference of convex functions (DC) programming, which can transform non-convex optimization problems into successive approximate convex problems. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has a quick convergence rate, and the proposed scheme leads to a higher achievable secrecy rate.

Secrecy Rate-Optimum Energy Splitting for an Untrusted and Energy Harvesting Relay Network

Rugui Yao, Yanan Lu, Theodoros A. Tsiftsis +3 more

In this paper, a destination-assisted-jamming-based secure transmission is devised for an untrusted and energy harvesting relay network. In the proposed scheme, both source and destination split their energies into two parts for energy harvesting at the relay and transmissions of confidential and cooperative jamming signals, respectively. We formulate an optimization problem to maximize the achievable secrecy rate by jointly optimizing the energy splitting for the source and destination. The existence of the solution for the optimization is carefully analyzed. Due to high complexity of the joint optimization, an iterative optimization algorithm to obtain the near-optimal energy splitting policy is proposed. The numerical results validate that the optimized energy splitting policy leads to a higher achievable secrecy rate, and the iterative algorithm has a quick convergence rate.

AN-Aided Relay-Selection Scheme for Securing Untrusted RF-EH Relay Systems

Asma Mabrouk, Ahmed El Shafie, Kamel Tourki +1 more

Energy harvesting (EH) technology has imposed new constraints on the amount of time an energy-constrained relay node needs to use for EH and information forwarding. Moreover, EH techniques may increase vulnerability to eavesdropping, since a power receiver, as a potential eavesdropper, usually has a shorter access distance than an information receiver. Motivated by this issue, in this paper, we investigate a tradeoff between energy consumption and physical layer security in a wireless powered-untrusted cooperative communication (WPUCC) network consisting of one source-destination pair and multiple amplify-and-forward untrusted relays. To minimize the energy consumption of the network, we propose a secure adaptive relay-based cooperation approach. Moreover, a greedy battery-aware relay-selection scheme is proposed to minimize the power consumption in WPUCC systems. Using power-splitting-based energy accumulation, untrusted relays attempt to intercept the information intended to the legitimate destination while harvesting energy at the same time. To keep the information secure from potential eavesdropping, the source injects a jamming signal along with its data signal. By modeling the dynamic behavior of the relay battery as a finite-state Markov chain, we derive an analytical expression for the secrecy outage probability of our proposed secure adaptive harvest-use-store cooperative communication scheme and show that it is more secure than its direct transmission and pure two-hop transmission counterparts.
