Pair coherent state evolutions through parametric frequency conversion and the realization of quantized vortex states

Abstract

The pair coherent state evolution during a parametric frequency conversion is analyzed. And the wavefunction of the evolving pair coherent state in configuration space is obtained. It is found that the state may become a modified Bessel-Gaussian vortex state with topological charge index q which is a new non-Gaussian state. In coherent state representation such a modified Bessel-Gaussian vortex state is an eigenstate of sum of squared two-mode annihilation operators a2 + b2. The result obtained in this paper provides a new scheme for generating quantized vortex states in experiment with currently available technology.

Two-mode superposition coherent states with spatial vortex structure for the quantized radiation field

Kaicheng Zhu, Shaoxin Li, Xiaojuan Zheng +1 more

Through superposing M two-mode coherent state a two-mode superposition coherent state with a spatial vortex structure in configuration space is constructed. Such quantum vortex state is an eigenstate of sum of squared two-mode annihilation operators and is always entangled. In the limiting condition of large M the quantum vortex state has a modified Bessel–Gaussian vortex structure with topological charge index n. Experimentally, such two-mode vortex states may be prepared by virtue of a multimode coherent state with currently available technology.

Non-Gaussian state with vortex structure of quantized radiation field

Kaicheng Zhu, Shaoxin Li, Xiaojuan Zheng +1 more

A new kind of quantum non-Gaussian state with vortex structure termed as a modified Bessel–Gaussian vortex state is constructed, and it is an eigenstate of sum of squared annihilation operator a2+b2. The quantum vortex state exhibits a rich variety of nonclassical signatures and is always entangled. The dependence of its statistical properties on state parameters is analyzed, and the non-Gaussianity is investigated in detail. It is found that, for sufficient small values of α, the properties clearly depend on the topological charge index n. Moreover, a scheme for generating such quantized vortex states is proposed.

Interaction of a pair coherent state with a three-level Λ-type atom and generation of a modified Bessel—Gaussian state with a vortex structure

Huiqin Tang, Shaoxin Li, Ying Tang +2 more

The evolution of a system state is derived based on the nonresonant interaction of a three-level “Λ" type atom with two cavity modes at a pair coherent state and two classic fields, and a cavity field state is analyzed in detail under conditional detecting. It is found that the quantized modified Bessel—Gaussian states as well as the superposition states consisting of the quantized vortex states with different weighted coefficients may be prepared through carefully preparing an initial atomic state and appropriately adjusting the interaction time. The scheme provides an additional choice to realize the two-mode quantized vortex state within the context of cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED).

Entanglement by linearSU(2) transformations: generation and evolution of quantum vortex states

G. S. Agarwal, J Banerji

We consider the evolution of a two-mode system of bosons under the action of a Hamiltonian that generates linear SU (2) transformations. The Hamiltonian is generic in that it represents a host of entanglement mechanisms, which can thus be treated in a unified way. We start by solving the quantum dynamics analytically when the system is initially in a Fock state. We show how the two modes get entangled by evolution to produce a coherent superposition of vortex states in general, and a single vortex state under certain conditions. The degree of entanglement between the modes is measured by finding the explicit analytical dependence of the Von Neumann entropy on the system parameters. The reduced state of each mode is analysed by means of its correlation function and spatial coherence function. Remarkably, our analysis is shown to be equally as valid for a variety of initial states that can be prepared from a two-mode Fock state via a unitary transformation and for which the results can be obtained by mere inspection of the corresponding results for an initial Fock state. As an example, we consider a quantum vortex as the initial state and also find conditions for its revival and charge conjugation. While studying the evolution of the initial vortex state, we have encountered and explained an interesting situation in which the entropy of the system does not evolve whereas its wavefunction does. Although the modal concept has been used throughout the paper, it is important to note that the theory is equally applicable for a two-particle system in which each particle is represented by its bosonic creation and annihilation operators.
