Secrecy outage probability and strictly positive secrecy capacity of UAV assisted cooperative NOMA system with two untrusted destinations

Mohd Javed Khan, Saif Ahmad, Indrasen Singh +1 more

The volume of confidential information transmitted over 5G networks has increased rapidly due to the widespread adoption of large machine-type communication and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Secrecy outage probability (SOP) and strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) parameters are crucial parameters used in evaluating the security of wireless systems, particularly in situations where maintaining secrecy is essential. Also, Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has the potential to improve the performance of wireless communication systems due to its higher spectral efficiency, improved fairness in resource allocation, and enhanced coverage and connectivity. In this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) assisted cooperative NOMA system with a half duplex protocol based amplify and forward relay over the Rayleigh fading channel in presence of two eavesdroppers for downlink communication. We derive SOP and SPSC of the proposed system model and analyze its performance in terms of the illegal SNR of eavesdroppers, power allocation coefficient, information rates and Rayleigh channel parameters. Simulation results demonstrate that SOP decreases with a higher value of power allocation coefficient and lower values of the illegal SNR of eavesdropper and lower information rates. SPSC increases with high values of power allocation coefficient of far destination and decreases with lower values of illegal SNR of eavesdroppers and Rayleigh channel parameters. Analytical simulations are verified using Monte Carlo simulations.

Physical-Layer Security for Untrusted UAV-Assisted Full-Duplex Wireless Networks

Theshani Nuradha, Kasun T. Hemachandra, Tharaka Samarasinghe +1 more

The paper considers physical layer security (PLS) of an untrusted unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network, where a multitude of UAVs communicate in full-duplex (FD) mode. A source-based jamming (SBJ) scheme is exploited for secure communication without utilizing any external jammers. Firstly, the optimal power allocation between the confidential signal and the jamming signal is derived to maximize the secrecy rate of each link between the source and the destination. Then, the best UAV selection scheme is proposed to maximize the overall secrecy rate of the network. The corresponding secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the average secrecy rate (ASR) of the network are analyzed based on the proposed UAV selection and the optimal power allocation schemes. Asymptotic results are also obtained to derive the achievable diversity order. Results are validated through numerical evaluations while providing useful network design insights such as locations and altitudes of the UAVs.

Power Allocation for Secrecy Rate Maximization in Secure UAV-Cooperative Communications

Tao Wang, Wenjun Fan, Meng Li +1 more

Cooperative communications enabled by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can enlarge the transmission distance and coverage area. However, there is a serious issue of information security in UAV-cooperative wireless networks due to the broadcast feature of air-to-ground wireless channel. The framework of physical layer security provides an alternative technology to cope with this problem. Therefore, based on physical layer security, this paper focuses on maximizing the secrecy rate of a UAV-cooperative wireless networks by allocating the optimal power to the transmitter and the UAV. To deal with the difficulties of the resulting optimization problem, difference of convex (DC) programming is introduced to transform the primal problem into a series of convex subproblems which can be solved iteratively by some available convex optimization algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed optimal power allocation algorithm can achieve a higher secrecy rate than the maximum power allocation algorithm does.
