Abstract

In this paper, we have investigated the Half-Duplex (HD) Energy Harvesting (EH) Cooperative Relaying Networks with one source node, one destination node, one intermediate relay and in the presence of the Jammer Against Eavesdropper. We have analyzed the system performance in terms of the integral form expression of secrecy outage probability. In addition, we have investigated the effect of source rate, time switching factor, energy coefficient, and the ratio Ps/N0 on the system performance. Finally, all the mathematical, analytical expressions are verified by Monte Carlo simulation, and the analytical results match well with the simulation ones to convince the correctness of the analytical expression.

Exact outage and intercept analysis of physical layer security in half-duplex energy harvesting relay systems

The-Anh Ngo, Xuan-Truong Tran, Viet-Thanh Le +2 more

This paper investigates physical layer security (PLS) in a half duplex (HD) relay network with radio frequency energy harvesting (EH). We consider an amplify and forward (AF) protocol in which both the source and the relay harvest energy from a dedicated power beacon, while a passive eavesdropper attempts to intercept the confidential message. Unlike prior studies that rely on asymptotic analysis or numerical integration, we derive exact closed form expressions for the outage probability (OP) and the intercept probability (IP). The proposed expressions characterize the reliability and secrecy trade-off in energy limited cooperative relaying and enable efficient performance evaluation. Monte Carlo simulations validate the analysis and match the theoretical results. Moreover, the closed form results reveal how channel conditions and harvesting duration jointly shape outage and interception behaviors. We further quantify the impacts of normalized transmit power, the time allocation factor between harvesting and information transmission, and the EH efficiency. The results provide practical guidance for selecting system parameters to meet target reliability and secrecy levels, and they show that the time allocation factor must be carefully chosen to balance harvested energy and transmission time.

Secrecy Outage Performance Analysis for Energy Harvesting Sensor Networks With a Jammer Using Relay Selection Strategy

Van Nhan Vo, Tri Gia Nguyen, Chakchai So–In +2 more

In this paper, we study radio frequency energy harvesting (EH) in a wireless sensor network in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers (EAVs). Specifically, the sensor source and multiple sensor relays harvest energy from multiple power transfer stations (PTSs), and then, the source uses this harvested energy to transmit information to the base station (BS) with the help of the relays. During the transmission of information, the BS typically faces a risk of losing information due to the EAVs. Thus, to enhance the secrecy of the considered system, one of the relays acts as a jammer, using harvested energy to generate interference with the EAVs. We propose a best-relay-and-best-jammer scheme for this purpose and compare this scheme with other previous schemes. The exact closed-form expression for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) is obtained and is validated through Monte Carlo simulations. A near-optimal EH time algorithm is also proposed. In addition, the effects on the SOP of key system parameters such as the EH efficiency coefficient, the EH time, the distance between the relay and BS, the number of PTSs, the number of relays, and the number of EAVs are investigated. The results indicate that the proposed scheme generally outperforms both the best-relay-and-random-jammer scheme and the random-relay-and-best-jammer scheme in terms of the secrecy capacity.

Physical Layer Secrecy by Power Splitting and Jamming in Cooperative Multiple Relay Based on Energy Harvesting in Full-Duplex Network

Nabila Sehito, Shouyi Yang, Esraa Mousa Ali +7 more

In this article, we investigated the secrecy performance of a three-hop relay network system with Power Splitting (PS) and Energy Harvesting (EH). In the presence of one eavesdropper, a signal is transferred from source to destination with the help of a relay. The source signal transmits in full-duplex (FD) mood, jamming the relay transfer signals to the destination. The relay and source employ Time Switching (TS) and Energy Harvesting (EH) techniques to obtain the power from the power beacon. In this study, we compared the Secrecy Rate of two Cooperative Schemes, Amplify and Forward (AF) and Decode and Forward (DF), for both designed systems with the established EH and PS system. The Secrecy Rate was improved by 50.5% in the AF scheme and by 44.2% in the DF scheme between the relay and eavesdropper at 40 m apart for the proposed system in EH and PS. This simulation was performed using the Monto Carlo method in MATLAB.

Physical Layer Security in wireless sensors networks with friendly jammer: Secrecy Outage Probability Analysis

Bùi Vũ Minh, N.H.K. NHAN, Thu-Ha Thi Pham +2 more

In this paper, we addressed improving the physical layer security (PLS) of an energy harvest- ing (EH)-based wireless network composed of a source node, which is operated by the harvested energy from the power beacon and sends secure information to a destination in the presence of an eavesdropper and a cooperative jammer (CJ). In particular, we provided an explicit transmit design for minimizing the secrecy outage probability (SOP), subject to a minimum secrecy rate constraint. The results show that support from a friendly jammer can significantly improve the reliabil- ity and security performance of the system. Addition- ally, we described the effects of particular factors on the optimal possible temporal distribution between informa- tion transmission and energy harvesting. As a result, when considering the SOP, we concluded that there ex- ists an optimal value of the time switching factor for the system to function well. The analytical formulas were verified by Monte Carlo simulation.

Physical Layer Security in Cooperative Energy Harvesting Networks With a Friendly Jammer

Tiep Minh Hoang, Trung Q. Duong, Nguyen‐Son Vo +1 more

In this letter, we consider a cooperative wireless network consisting of a source, multiple intermediate energy harvesting nodes, and a destination, in the presence of a passive eavesdropper. First, the intermediate nodes use the time switching-based relaying protocol to harvest energy from the source signal. Then, a pair out of intermediate nodes are selected as a relay and a jammer to transmit confidential and jamming signals to the destination and eavesdropper. Under these assumptions, we evaluate the system performance in terms of secrecy outage probability.

Analysis of SWIPT-Enabled Relay Networks with Full-Duplex Destination-Aided Jamming

Jinglan Ou, Hangchuan Shi, Liubin Wang +2 more

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is a major breakthrough in the field of low-power wireless information transmissions. In this paper, the secrecy performance of the SWIPT-enabled relay network with full-duplex destination-aided jamming is assessed, where both the power-splitting (PS) and time-switching (TS) schemes at the relay are considered with the linear and nonlinear energy harvesting models. The relay harvests energy from the confidential signal and artificial noise sent by the source and destination, respectively, and forwards the amplified signal to the destination, in the presence of an eavesdropper. The analytical closed-form expressions of the connection outage probability (COP), secrecy outage probability (SOP), and transmission outage probability (TOP) for PS- and TS-based schemes are derived, and the closed-form expression of the lower bound of ergodic secrecy capacity (ESC) is calculated. The asymptotic-form expressions of the COP, SOP, TOP, and ESC are further analyzed to capture the valuable information in the high SNR regime. Numerical results verify the correctness of analytical results, reveal the effects of the PS/TS ratio, and transmit the signal-to-noise ratio on secrecy performance.
