Abstract Adiabatic processes have found many important applications in modern physics, the distinct merit of which is that accurate control over process timing is not required. However, such processes are slow, which limits their application in quantum computation, due to the limited coherent times of typical quantum systems. Here, we propose a scheme to implement quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems via a shortcut to adiabaticity, where the process can be greatly speeded up while precise timing control is still not necessary. In our scheme, by modifying only the coupling strength, we can achieve fast quantum state conversion with high fidelity, where the adiabatic condition does not need to be met. In addition, the population of the unwanted intermediate state can be further suppressed. Therefore, our protocol presents an important step towards practical state conversion between optical and microwave photons, and thus may find many important applications in hybrid quantum information processing.

However, it is a slow process so that unwanted transitions will appear, which limits the application in quantum computation, due to the limited coherent times of quantum systems. Here, we propose a scheme to implement superadiabatic quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems, where the process can be greatly speeded up while the precise timing control is still not necessary. In our scheme, only by modifying the coupling strength, we can achieve near perfect and fast quantum state conversion, where the adiabatic condition does not need to be met. In addition, the population of intermediate unwanted state can be further suppressed. Therefore, our protocol presents an important step towards practical state conversion between optical and microwave photons, and thus may find many important applications in hybrid quantum information processing.
Based on the characteristics of superposition, entanglement, non-locality and non-clonality of quantum mechanics, quantum information science can break through the physical limits of classical information and open up a new information processing function different from classical electromagnetic application methods. Due to the advantages of high-energy single photon in practical applications, the research and application of optical quantum information technology dominates the development of current quantum information technology. However, the free-space transmission of light waves is greatly affected by weather conditions and atmospheric particles. Comparing with other wave bands, classical microwave signal shows good penetration ability when transmitting in free space. By introducing quantum mechanics, microwave signal also exhibits non-classical merits. As quantum microwave signal inherits both classical transmission performance and quantum non-classical features, it can be utilized as a significant signal source for diverse applications in microwave domain, such as quantum communication, quantum navigation and quantum radar, which are based on quantum technologies in large scale and dynamic free space transmission. There are three main experimental platforms on which quantum microwave is studied and produced. They are cavity quantum electrodynamics(C-QED) system, circuit quantum electrodynamics(c-QED) system, and cavity electro-opto-mechanical(EOM) system, involving with several nonlinear effects such as Kerr effect, Casimir effect, three-wave mixing, etc. In this paper, the setups of these platforms and the preparation principles are introduced. Meanwhile, the preparation principles and methods of microwave single photon, entangled microwave photons, squeezed microwave fields and entangled microwave fields are summarized and analyzed in detail from three aspects. The present status of experimental progress in the relevant fields are summarized and listed as well. Besides, key problems in the application of quantum navigation in free space utilizing quantum microwave are probed. Among them, the most pressing ones are preparation ability, decoherence in transmission and detection of entangled quantum microwave signals, which are also discussed and analyzed in this paper. Finally, we look forward to the future development of quantum microwave technology. It mainly consists of manufacturing microwave detectors with high efficiency, designing thermal photon filters, and developing suitable antennas. We hope that this study can provide useful reference for scholars who are engaged in or interested in research related to quantum microwave technologies.
We study tunable double-channel microwave-optical (M-O) entanglement and coherent conversion by controlling the quantum interference effect. This is realized in a two-mechanical-mode electro-opto-mechanical (EOM) system, in which two mechanical resonators (MRs) are coupled with each other by phase-dependent phonon-phonon interaction, and link the interaction between the microwave and optical cavity. It's demonstrated that the mechanical coupling between two MRs leads to the interference of two pathways of electro-opto-mechanical interaction, which can generate the tunable double-channel phenomena in comparison with a typical three-mode EOM system. In particular, by tuning of phonon-phonon interaction and couplings between cavities with MRs, we can not only steer the switch from the M-O interaction with a single channel to that of the double-channel, but also modulate the entanglement and conversion characteristics in each channel. Moreover, our scheme can be extended to an N-mechanical-mode EOM system, in which N discrete channels will be observed and controlled. This study opens up prospects for quantum information transduction and storage with a wide bandwidth and multichannel quantum interface.
In order to transfer two-mode quantum state from optical input to microwave output, we propose a scheme based on double cavity electro-opto-mechanical converters. Principles and operation modes of cavity electro-opto-mechanical converter are introduced in detail, and theoretical model of transferring Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen state via our scheme is built. The dynamics and corresponding scattering matrixes of our scheme are analyzed carefully. Meanwhile, Ulhmann fidelity is utilized to quantify the similarity of initial state and final state, which also stands for the performance of our scheme. Influences of coupling rates and optical input bandwidth on fidelity are well discussed, and some significant factors are also taken into consideration, such as transmission spectrum, interaction rates and decoherence rates. Furthermore, Wigner distributions of initial state and final state as well as the von Neumann entropy are obtained to verify the performance of our scheme. The results show that our scheme could transfer the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen state from optical input to microwave output with high fidelity (0.74), and the entropy ratio between initial and final states is about 0.78, which is quite close with the fidelity. Besides, Wigner distributions also show that initial state and final state are slightly different in phase structures. In case of strong coupling rates, ultralow temperature and narrow input bandwidth, the performance of our scheme could be further enhanced.
Abstract In this paper, the use of optical parametric amplifier to effectively improve the detection performance of nonlinear opto-mechanical system is studied theoretically. At the same time, it is found that by adjusting the nonlinear gain of the optical parametric amplifier and the effective detuning between the input light field and the cavity field, the quantum noise of about 14dB in the squeezed quadrature can be reduced, and the sensitivity of weak force detection can be increased by more than 2 times. On the other hand, the phenomenon of reaction noise cancellation caused by nonlinear cavity combined with homodyne measurement is analyzed and the method of quantum non-destructive measurement is realized, which provides technical reference for weak force detection of nonlinear opto-mechanical system.
