Abstract

We propose an atom-assisted cavity optomechanical system consisting of a single $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}$-type three-level atom, a mechanical resonator, and a sideband-driven cavity. The analytic expression of the system's evolution is constructed under the consideration of sideband-driven fields, then steady-state solution of electromagnetically and optomechanically induced transparency and amplification is presented. In the resolved red sideband case, we demonstrate the appearance of electromagnetically and optomechanically induced transparency when the two sets of two-photon resonances are satisfied. Moreover, we set up the eigenstate structure for this atom-assisted cavity optomechanical system, which gives an explicit explanation for the mechanism of the transparency. In the resolved blue sideband case, we can achieve the controllable amplification of the probe light, which is induced by the constructive interactions of photon, atom, and phonon. The proposed scheme offers insight for the tripartite coherent interaction among photons, atoms, and phonons, which will provide great flexibility for phonon storage and motivate the development of quantum information processing.

Enhanced multipartite entanglement via quantum coherence with an atom-assisted optomechanical system

Xihua Yang, Jiaqi Liu, Xiaona Yan +1 more

Abstract We present a scheme to significantly enhance multipartite entanglement with an atom-assisted single-cavity optomechanical system. By embedding an ensemble of Λ-type three-level atoms into the cavity, the stationary tripartite entanglement among two longitudinal cavity modes and a mirror oscillation mode can be greatly enhanced due to quantum coherence induced between the two lower atomic states when one (another) cavity mode is driven at the red (blue) mechanical sideband, and both cavity modes are blue-detuned by the mechanical frequency to the respective atomic resonant transitions; moreover, strong light–light–atom–mirror quadripartite entanglement can also be obtained. The present hybrid system can serve as a promising platform for realizing various quantum protocols, and may find potential applications in quantum information processing and quantum networks.

Optomechanically induced transparency in a multi-cavity system subjected to two-level atomic ensemble interference

Gongtao Yu, Guixia Pan

Abstract We investigate a hybrid multi-cavity optomechanical system with interference from a two-level atomic ensemble. The system is composed of three optical cavities and two nanomechanical resonators. A two-level atomic ensemble is filled into the middle optical cavity. The optical cavity located in the middle has two interaction forces with the two outermost optical cavities. What is more, the system also includes various types of interaction relations, which are the couplings of optical cavities with mechanical resonators and the coupling of optical cavity with two-level atomic ensemble. In order to study the optical response of optomechanically induced transparency, we modulate the interaction intensity within the system to obtain different eletromagnetic induced transparent phenomena. It has been found that under the influence of different parameters, the number of transparent windows and the width of transparent windows increase with an increase in the coupling of the optical cavities with atomic ensemble. In addition, as the system parameters change, the transparency points also move. The position of the two outermost transparent points becomes farther apart when the coupling of optical cavity with mechanical resonators increases. Our approach provides a great flexibility for controlling electromagnetically induced transparency. It will have the great potential applications for quantum information processing.

Optical-response properties in an atom-assisted optomechanical system with a mechanical pump

Xuejian Sun, Hao Chen, Wenxiao Liu +1 more

Abstract We investigate the optical-response properties of a coherent-mechanical pumped optomechanical system (OMS) coupled to a Λ-type three-level atomic ensemble. Due to the optomechanical and the cavity-atom couplings, the optomechanically induced transparency (OMIT) and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) phenomena could both be observed from our proposal. In the presence of a coherent mechanical pump, we show that the OMIT behavior of the probe field exhibits a phase-dependent effect, leading to the switch from OMIT to optomechanically induced absorption or amplification, while the feature of EIT remains unchanged. The distinctly different effects of the mechanical pump on OMIT and EIT behavior assure us that the absorption (amplification) and transparency of the output probe field can be simultaneously observed. Moreover, a tunable switch from slow to fast light can also be realized by tuning the phase and amplitude of the mechanical pump. In particular, the presence of the atomic ensemble can further adjust the group delay, providing additional flexibility for achieving the tunable switch.

Multiple optomechanically induced transparency and slow/fast light in a multicavity system with two-level atoms

Tianyu Zhou, Guixia Pan

Abstract We investigate the phenomenon of optomechanically induced transparency assisted by a hybrid two-cavity optomechanical system. The system consists of two optical cavities and four mechanical resonators, and each optical cavity is filled with two-level atomic ensembles. Our study demonstrates that the characteristics of optomechanically induced transparency vary with different coupling parameters. Specifically, the number of transparent windows increases with the introduction of atomic ensembles and Coulomb interaction. Furthermore, the positions of the transparent points can be manipulated by the coupling parameters. It is found that increasing the Coulomb coupling between mechanical oscillators shifts the transparent points further apart. Furthermore, we also explore the slow/fast light effect by analyzing the phase and group delay of the probe field. Our approach enables the control of multiple optomechanically induced transparency and provides potential applications in quantum information processing.

Modulation of Second-Order Sideband Efficiency in an Atom-Assisted Optomechanical System

Liang-Xuan Fan, Tao Shui, Ling Li +1 more

We propose an efficient scheme to enhance the generation of optical second-order sidebands (OSSs) in an atom-assisted optomechanical system. The cavity field is coupled with a strong driving field and a weak probe field, and a control field is applied to the atom. We use the steady-state method to analyze the nonlinear interaction in the system, which is different from the traditional linear analysis method. The existence of an auxiliary three-level atom driven by the control field significantly enhances the generation of an OSS. It is found that the efficiency of the OSS can be effectively modulated by adjusting the Rabi frequency of the control field, optomechanical cooperativity and atomic coupling strength. Our scheme provides a promising solution for controlling light propagation and has potential application in quantum optical devices and quantum information networks.

Enhancement of tripartite entanglement via periodically modulated fields with an atom-assisted optomechanical system

Jiaxin Wen, Yi Lu, Zhenghong Li +1 more

Abstract We propose a model for controlling and enhancing the entanglement between the two cavity fields and mirror with a hybrid optomechanical system consisting of Λ-type three-level 85Rb atomic ensembles driven by two externally modulated laser fields. When one (another) cavity mode is driven at the red (blue) mechanical sideband and both cavity modes are blue-detuned by the mechanical frequency to the respective atomic resonant transitions, the dynamic coupling control of the cavity field and mirror can be realized by periodically modulating the amplitudes of the two incident laser fields. Compared to the unmodulated case, the periodic modulation of the laser fields in a cavity-optomechanical system embedded with a small number of atoms has the capability to enhance the entanglement between the two cavity fields and mirror. This scheme provides a new approach to the generation and control of entanglement in cavity-optomechanical systems.
