Abstract

Abstract Adiabatic state conversion in optomechanical systems requires the evolution process to be very slow, which limits its application in quantum information processing. In this paper, we explicitly show that speeding up adiabatic state conversion in optomechanical systems can be implemented. For the case that each cavity is driven far from the red-detuned mechanical sideband, the high-efficiency population transfer between cavity modes is achieved via an additional Hamiltonian  a ( t ) , whereas the population of the mechanical resonator can be effectively inhibited. In the meanwhile, in the case of each cavity driven near the red-detuned mechanical sideband, the population transfers can be realized by varying the modified optomechanical couplings without an additional Hamiltonian. Numerical simulation demonstrates that the transfer is robust to the system decays.

Optimal Control for Robust Photon State Transfer in Optomechanical Systems

Yan Wang, Jin‐Lei Wu, Yu‐Kun Feng +4 more

Abstract Cavity optomechanical systems converting quantum state between photons facilitate the development of scalable quantum information processors. The control of state transfer in such systems require producing fast and robust transfer to the target state with high fidelity. Shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) has recently been proved a powerful method for performing fast quantum state conversion in optomechanical systems, which is, however, not robust enough against deviations in control parameters. Here a scheme to realize robust photon state transfer in a universal cavity optomechanical system by combining STA with optimal control technique (OCT) is proposed. Minimizing systematic error sensitivities with adjustable optimization parameters allows to control simultaneously the transfer speed, fidelity, and robustness against errors. Numerical results show that the optimized scheme is insensitive to deviations in optomechanical coupling and frequency detuning over a broad range. The effects of dissipation on the transfer fidelity are also examined for practical implementation of the scheme in realistic scenarios.

Quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems via shortcut to adiabaticity

Xiao Ming Zhou, Bao-Jie Liu, L-B Shao +2 more

Abstract Adiabatic processes have found many important applications in modern physics, the distinct merit of which is that accurate control over process timing is not required. However, such processes are slow, which limits their application in quantum computation, due to the limited coherent times of typical quantum systems. Here, we propose a scheme to implement quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems via a shortcut to adiabaticity, where the process can be greatly speeded up while precise timing control is still not necessary. In our scheme, by modifying only the coupling strength, we can achieve fast quantum state conversion with high fidelity, where the adiabatic condition does not need to be met. In addition, the population of the unwanted intermediate state can be further suppressed. Therefore, our protocol presents an important step towards practical state conversion between optical and microwave photons, and thus may find many important applications in hybrid quantum information processing.

Adiabatic State Conversion and Pulse Transmission in Optomechanical Systems

Lin Tian

Optomechanical systems with strong coupling can be a powerful medium for quantum state engineering of the cavity modes. Here, we show that quantum state conversion between cavity modes of distinctively different wavelengths can be realized with high fidelity by adiabatically varying the effective optomechanical couplings. The conversion fidelity for gaussian states is derived by solving the Langevin equation in the adiabatic limit. Meanwhile, we also show that traveling photon pulses can be transmitted between different input and output channels with high fidelity and the output pulse can be engineered via the optomechanical couplings.

Speeding up adiabatic state conversion in optomechanical system

Feng‐Yang Zhang, Wenlin Li, Yan Xia

Speeding up adiabatic method has attracted much attention with the wide applications in quantum information processing. In this paper, two kinds of methods, Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant-based inverse engineering and transitionless quantum driving are applied to implement speeding up adiabatic state conversion in optomechanical system. The perfect population transfer can be achieved within a short time. At last, the energetic cost is analysed for the transitionless quantum driving.

Frequency upconversion of infrared signals via molecular optomechanical cavities

Fen Zou, Shu-Xian Quan, Yong Li +1 more

Molecular optomechanical cavities have recently emerged as a promising platform for frequency upconversion, enabling the quantum coherent conversion of infrared signal into the visible range. In a recent work [F. Zou et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 132, 153602 (2024)], we proposed an amplification mechanism that can enhance the intensity of the upconverted infrared signals by a factor of 1000 or more within such a cavity under the ideal case without any noise. In this work, we employ the power spectrum method to investigate the noise added to the upconverted signal in a molecular optomechanical cavity along with the conversion efficiency from infrared signal into visible range. In the red-detuned regime, the anti-Stokes sideband achieves superior conversion efficiency relative to the Stokes sideband. Conversely, the Stokes sideband dominates under the blue-detuned condition, which amplifies the infrared signal. We further demonstrate the dependence of the added noise on the coupling strength and decay rates of the system. In particular, we find that when the infrared signal is amplified, the added noise approaches the quantum limit of one quantum.

Superadiabatic quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems

Xiao Ming Zhou, Bao-Jie Liu, L. B. Shao +2 more

Adiabatic process has found many important applications in modern physics, the distinct merit of which is that it does not need accurate control over the timing of the process. However, it is a slow process so that unwanted transitions will appear, which limits the application in quantum computation, due to the limited coherent times of quantum systems. Here, we propose a scheme to implement superadiabatic quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems, where the process can be greatly speeded up while the precise timing control is still not necessary. In our scheme, only by modifying the coupling strength, we can achieve near perfect and fast quantum state conversion, where the adiabatic condition does not need to be met. In addition, the population of intermediate unwanted state can be further suppressed. Therefore, our protocol presents an important step towards practical state conversion between optical and microwave photons, and thus may find many important applications in hybrid quantum information processing.
