Abstract

This paper introduces DFTs-OFDM to the QAM-based quantum noise stream cipher (QNSC) transmission system. Results show that applying DFTs-OFDM can help the QAM-based QNSC to improve the transmission signal quality.

Quantum Noise Stream Cipher Scheme Based on 3-Channel-QAM With 3D Mapping and DFTs-OFDM

Mingrui Zhang, Yajie Li, Shuang Wei +4 more

In this letter, we conduct an experiment of quantum noise stream cipher scheme based on 3-channel-QAM mapping and DFTs-OFDM in optical back-to-back and 160km standard single mode fiber. The fusion of 3D mapping and DFTs-OFDM offers sufficient security for QAM/QNSC within the dual polarization I/Q modulator system. Notably, the proposed 3D-mapping approach demonstrates improved minimum Euclidean distance and bit error rate performance compared to conventional 2D mapping. Experimental results confirm that our 3-channel-QAM/QNSC system achieves better transmission and higher security performance at the same base length than conventional QAM/QNSC.

Long Distance IM/DD Transmission with OFDM-QAM based Quantum Noise Stream Cipher

Wenyan Mao, Guanjun Gao, Cheng Xu +4 more

We propose a QAM-based quantum noise stream cipher (QNSC) scheme for IM/DD transmission employing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation. Secure transmission of 2.5 Gbit/s IMDD-OFDM signal is demonstrated over 1000 km distance. The experimental results show that Q penalty using IMDD-OFDM based QNSC is only 1.6 dB compared to QPSK without encryption in the cases of back-to-back condition and 1000 km transmission.

Basis Precoding Based on Probabilistic Constellation Shaping in QAM/QNSC

Shuang Wei, Sheng Liu, Chao Lei +8 more

Quantum noise stream cipher (QNSC) is a physical-layer encryption approach for optical communications, and its security barrier is the "basis" that is used as the secret-key for symbol encryption. Regarding the fact that the basis is actually transmitted through the fiber, we propose a basis precoding scheme based on probabilistic constellation shaping, to better conceal the basis into the noise for security enhancement. Experimental results show our scheme can improve the security of the QAM/QNSC system in terms of Eve’s symbol error ratio.

Analysis of the encryption penalty in a QAM-based quantum noise stream dcipher

Yuang Li, Yajie Li, Kongni Zhu +3 more

Quantum noise stream cipher based on quadrature-amplitude-modulation (QAM/QNSC) is a kind of physical layer encryption technology. However, the additional encryption penalty will significantly affect the practical deployment of QNSC, especially in the high capacity and long-haul transmission system. With our research, the encryption process of QAM/QNSC degrades the transmission performance of plaintext information. In this paper, we quantitatively analyze the encryption penalty of QAM/QNSC based on the proposed concept of effective minimum Euclidean distance. We calculate the theoretical signal-to-noise ratio sensitivity and encryption penalty of QAM/QNSC signals. A modified feedforward pilot-aided two-stage carrier phase recovery scheme is used to reduce the effect of laser phase noise and the encryption penalty. Experimental results achieve single-channel 205.9 Gbit/s 640km transmission with single carrier polarization-diversity-multiplexing 16-QAM/QNSC signal.
