Modulational instability in a one-dimensional spin–orbit coupled Bose–Bose mixture

Abstract We establish the condition of modulational instability (MI) in one-dimensional effective one-component self-bound quantum droplets and Bose–Bose (BB) mixture, coupled through spin–orbit and Rabi couplings. For the self-bound quantum droplets of effective one-component BB mixture, MI occurs for the atom density: P < g 3 / 2 δ g 2 m 2 π 2 ℏ 2 , where δg = g + g 12 with g indicate intra-atomic and g 12 inter-atomic interaction strengths. The MI growth rate of BB mixture in the presence of spin–orbit and Rabi couplings shows distinct signatures of the couplings, in the form of multiple domains of instability. In particular, we demonstrate the explicit difference in MI, between the effective one-component self-bound quantum droplets and BB mixture.

Fluctuations and quantum self-bound droplets in a dipolar Bose-Bose mixture

Abdelâali Boudjemâa

We systematically investigate the properties of three-dimensional dipolar binary Bose mixture at low temperatures. A set of coupled self-consistent equations of motion are derived for the two condensates. In the homogeneous case, useful analytical formulas for the condensate depletion, the anomalous density, the ground-state energy, and the equation of state are obtained. The theory is extended to the inhomogeneous case and the importance of the inhomogeneity is highlighted. Our results open up an avenue for studying dipolar mixture droplets. Impacts of the dipole-dipole interaction on the stability, density profiles, and the size of the self-bound droplet are deeply discussed. The finite-temperature behavior of such a state is also examined.

Quantum phases of self-bound droplets of Bose-Bose mixtures

Junqiao Pan, Su Yi, Tao Shi

We systematically investigate the ground-state properties of self-bound droplets of quasi-two-dimensional binary Bose gases by using the Gaussian state theory. We find that quantum droplets consists of two macroscopic squeezed phases and a macroscopic coherent phase. We map out the phase diagram and determine all phase boundaries via both numerical and nearly analytical methods. In particular, we find three easily accessible signatures for the quantum phases and the stabilization mechanism of the self-bound droplets by precisely measuring their radial size. Our studies indicate that binary droplets represent an ideal platform for in-depth investigations of the quantum nature of the droplet state.
