Abstract

It is demonstrated that the Lorentz force acting on the electron particle in the Bohr's hydrogen atom, as well as the classical radiation energy of that atom, tends to be zero on condition both the electric and magnetic fields in the atom are considered in a definite quantum state. The ratio of the mentioned fields becomes of importance for discussion of the occurence of the electron spin.

New hydrogen atom model and radiation absorption mechanism

Xiao En Wang

Abstract Only Coulomb force is considered in Bohr model. It is found that electron in ground state hydrogen atom is also affected by Lorentz force of the same magnitude. Under the combined action of Coulomb force and Lorentz force, the radius of hydrogen atom is twice that of Bohr, and the rotation frequency of electron is half that of Bohr. The "half frequency" problem of Bohr's theory is solved, and the quantization result of the energy level of hydrogen atom is obtained by using the standing wave condition of quantum mechanics. The mechanism and details of photon absorption by hydrogen atom are analyzed and explained, and the physical meaning of Planck constant is explained.

Magnetic Field Applied to the Classical Hydrogen Atom Treated in Classical Electrodynamics with Classical Zero-Point Radiation

Timothy H. Boyer

An external magnetic field is applied to the classical hydrogen atom treated in classical electromagnetic theory including classical electromagnetic zero-point radiation. In an earlier article, it was shown that the average value of each of the electron's action variables appears as a discrete value, corresponding to a representation of the rotation group, because of resonance between the periodic orbit of the electron and the random classical zero-point radiation. Here it is shown that, in the presence of a magnetic field and because of resonance, the classical orbital motion of the electron is in resonance with random classical zero-point radiation only for orientations of the orbit which take integer values for the angle made with the direction of the magnetic field, but excluding the m=0 orientation where the magnetic field is parallel to the orbital plane of the electron. Classical electromagnetic explanations are given for the Stern-Gerlach result, and for the Zeeman effect.

A Rydberg-Bohr-de Broglie Algebraic Model of Hydrogen Atoms

Xiao En Wang

Bohr ignored the electromagnetic interaction of moving charges in atoms and only considered Coulomb forces, thus encountering half frequency difficulties. This article considers the Lorentz force to make the classical Bohr model consistent with modern quantum theory, uses de Broglie's standing wave principle instead of Bohr's quantization assumption, derives the energy level formula for hydrogen atoms, and explains the radiation mechanism of hydrogen atomic spectra. The hydrogen atom in a spectral tube emits a photon wave train during one free path, and the wavelength of the photon is the eigen wavelength of its wave train. The head wavelength of the wave train is four thirds of its eigen wavelength, and the tail wavelength of the wave train is two-thirds of its eigen wavelength.

Spin-Orbit Radiation Interference: The Classical Nature of Stationary Non-Radiation, Quantized Orbits, and Wave-Particle Duality in the Hydrogen Atom — —Also on the Nature of Photons and the Essence of the Electromagnetic Field: Revelation of the Cosmic Background Photon Field

Fan Xie

The classical electrodynamic conclusion that an accelerating point charge mustradiate has long been regarded as an iron law, yet the electron in the hydrogen atom does notradiate and fall into the nucleus. This paper points out that the root of this contradiction is not inclassical electromagnetic theory itself, but in the untested hidden assumption that “the electronis a point particle”. Compton scattering experiments have already shown that the electron, whencolliding with a photon, behaves as a particle with a finite size, and its intrinsic geometric radius isgiven by the reduced Compton wavelength: re = ℏ/(mec) . Based on this physical fact, andconsidering that while the electron revolves around the nucleus (orbital motion) it also has anintrinsic spin, the electron itself generates two homologous electromagnetic radiation fields:orbital radiation and spin radiation. These two real electromagnetic waves always superpose andinterfere in space. Under specific conditions (frequencies forming an integer ratio, oppositephases, and matching amplitudes), the two waves completely interfere destructively, resulting inzero net external radiation and forming a stable standing wave inside the system– this is thestationary state of the hydrogen atom. The destructive interference condition naturally leads toωs = nΩ (n integer) and re/R = α/n2 , where α is the fine-structure constant. Combined withthe Coulomb force (centripetal force) equation, one uniquely obtains the quantized orbital radiiRn = n2a0 (a0 is the Bohr radius) and the angular momentum quantization Ln = nℏ . Thefine-structure constant thus acquires a geometric meaning: α = re/a0 .This paper further reveals the classical nature of wave-particle duality: the electron is always aparticle (with a definite trajectory), and its wave-like behavior comes from the superposition andinterference of the electromagnetic waves of spin and orbital radiation. The “particle-like”behavior observed in experiments is essentially the point-like signal produced when the photonradiated by the electron is absorbed, while the wave-particle duality of the photon itself is an1intrinsic property of it being an electromagnetic wave packet. Based on this picture, the paperprovides a classical causal explanation for the electron double-slit experiment– the electron asa particle barely passes through the slits; the interference fringes originate from theself-interference of the radiation wave packet (photon) generated by the electron interactingwith the slit plate, and the bright spots on the screen come from the discrete absorption eventsof photons, with the accumulation of many events forming the fringes. Observation inevitablydisturbs the electron because any measurement disrupts the destructive interference condition, thereby eliminating the mystery of “wavefunction collapse”.The paper also systematically expounds the electromagnetic nature of the photon: the photon isan electromagnetic wave packet radiated when the electron transitions between stationarystates due to the imbalance of interference; its energy E = hλ is determined solely by thefrequency, with constant amplitude; the photon is born at the speed of light because it originatesfrom a pre-existing electromagnetic wave. Finally, the paper discusses the essence of theelectromagnetic field: the electromagnetic field is not matter but energy; the vacuum is theground state electromagnetic field (filled with photons), and the cosmic microwave backgroundradiation is its observational evidence. Macroscopic electromagnetic fields (such as radio waves, visible light) are perturbations superimposed on the ground state field, acting as carriers ofenergy and information. The paper also links the background photon field to the cosmicmicrowave background radiation, providing a new causal picture for the interaction mechanismof charged particles and the inverse-square law of forces. This model is completely based on classical electromagnetism and the physical fact that theelectron has a finite size, providing a causally clear and physically intuitive unified picture for thestability of the hydrogen atom, quantized orbits, wave-particle duality, the nature of the photon, the double-slit experiment, the measurement problem, and the energy origin of theelectromagnetic field. The model further suggests that the proton may also be a similar self-sustaining electromagneticbound state, and the origin of cosmic matter can be attributed to the process of energy lockingby the condensation of electrons and positrons, offering a unified perspective for physicalphenomena from the atom tothe cosmos.

Derivation of a Relativistic Quantum Condition Deeper Than the Classical Bohr Quantum Condition

Koshun Suto

Bohr assumed a quantum condition when deriving the energy levels of a hydrogen atom. However, this quantum condition was not a logically derived formula. The support of the de Broglie’s condition was necessary to give physical meaning to Bohr’s quantum condition. However, contemporary physics denies the existence of the waves which de Broglie thought actually existed. Since the theory of relativity are not taken into account in Bohr’s theory, the derived energy levels do not have the correct values. Thus, the author has previously proposed , a quantum condition superior to Bohr’s quantum condition. However, although this quantum condition was mathematically valid, it could not provide physical meaning. This paper has improved that point. When the ratio of the momentum vector of an electron moving inside a hydrogen atom and the momentum vector of the photon possessed by the electron satisfy a certain condition, the two are orthogonal. The condition for these two vectors to be orthogonal is the quantum condition derived in this paper. It is thought that the state where these two vectors are orthogonal is stable, and this state becomes the steady state of the hydrogen atom.
