Abstract

In this paper, we study the secrecy outage probability (SOP)and the strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC)of cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)system with a single antenna over Rayleigh fading channel in which there are a source, a relay node, two destinations and one eavesdropper. The relay adopts amplify-and-forward (AF)and decode-and-forward (DF)relaying schemes. The SOP and SPSC performance are analyzed to evaluate the level of security granted to legitimate users for both AF and DF protocols. The effects of the optimal power allocation value on system performance are also discussed and provided through numerical results.

Secrecy Performance Analysis of Multi-Antenna NOMA System with AF/DF relaying under External and Internal Eavesdropping Scenarios

Nesrine Zaghdoud, Adel Ben Mnaouer, Wided Hadj Alouane +2 more

Due to the successive interference cancellation (SIC) technique, Non orthogonal multiple Access (NOMA) users have the capability of decoding the other paired users sharing the same resource bloc. As a result, NOMA technique is not only exposed to external eavesdropping, but also to internal eavesdropping which raises security risks regarding NOMA users' privacy. Therefore, this research aims to analyse a Multi-antenna cooperative NOMA system where both Decode and Forward (DF) and Amplify and Forward (AF) strategies are studied. In this context, we investigate the secrecy performance of our system with both internal and external eavesdropping scenarios. Closed-form expressions of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) metrics are derived. Numerical results are given to illustrate the validity of the obtained theoretical results.

Physical Layer Security for Cooperative NOMA Systems

Jianchao Chen, Liang Yang, Mohamed‐Slim Alouini

In this correspondence, we investigate the physical layer security for cooperative nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems, where both amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) protocols are considered. More specifically, some analytical expressions are derived for secrecy outage probability (SOP) and strictly positive secrecy capacity. Results show that AF and DF almost achieve the same secrecy performance. Moreover, asymptotic results demonstrate that the SOP tends to a constant at high signal-to-noise ratio. Finally, our results show that the secrecy performance of considered NOMA systems is independent of the channel conditions between the relay and the poor user.

Secrecy outage probability and strictly positive secrecy capacity of UAV assisted cooperative NOMA system with two untrusted destinations

Mohd Javed Khan, Saif Ahmad, Indrasen Singh +1 more

The volume of confidential information transmitted over 5G networks has increased rapidly due to the widespread adoption of large machine-type communication and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Secrecy outage probability (SOP) and strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) parameters are crucial parameters used in evaluating the security of wireless systems, particularly in situations where maintaining secrecy is essential. Also, Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has the potential to improve the performance of wireless communication systems due to its higher spectral efficiency, improved fairness in resource allocation, and enhanced coverage and connectivity. In this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) assisted cooperative NOMA system with a half duplex protocol based amplify and forward relay over the Rayleigh fading channel in presence of two eavesdroppers for downlink communication. We derive SOP and SPSC of the proposed system model and analyze its performance in terms of the illegal SNR of eavesdroppers, power allocation coefficient, information rates and Rayleigh channel parameters. Simulation results demonstrate that SOP decreases with a higher value of power allocation coefficient and lower values of the illegal SNR of eavesdropper and lower information rates. SPSC increases with high values of power allocation coefficient of far destination and decreases with lower values of illegal SNR of eavesdroppers and Rayleigh channel parameters. Analytical simulations are verified using Monte Carlo simulations.

Physical layer security for cooperative NOMA networks via Nakagami-m fading channels

Wided Hadj Alouane

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the physical layer security in cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks over Nakagamim fading channels. Both amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) protocols are studied. More particularly, closed-form exact and asymptotic expressions for strictly positive secrecy capacity are provided considering NOMA-AF and NOMA-DF relaying systems. Numerical results are presented to justify the accuracy of the obtained theoretical analysis. These results show that NOMA-AF and NOMA-DF relaying networks have a similar secrecy performance.

Evaluating secrecy performance of cooperative NOMA networks under existence of relay link and direct link

Minh‐Sang Van Nguyen, Dinh‐Thuan Do

Summary The secrecy performance of a nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is examined in this study by employment of a dual‐hop decode‐and‐forward (DF) relay under existence of eavesdropper. Due to the fact that the relay is trusted or untrusted device and thus eavesdropper may wiretap information from the base station or the relay. In this regard, three scenarios related to trusted and untrusted relays are proposed, with different assumptions on the information overhearing ability of the eavesdropper; ie, the first scenario is that an eavesdropper overhears signal from the relay while the BS is overheard by eavesdropper in the second scenarios. More specifically, we derive closed‐form expressions for the secure probability metrics when the direct and relay links experience independent Rayleigh fading. There metrics include strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) and the secure outage probability (SOP). Furthermore, secure performance of traditional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) is also provided as further comparison with NOMA counterpart. We analyze the influence of main coefficients such as the target rates and the transmit SNR factors on the secrecy performance. Our results specify that for reasonable selection of such parameters, secrecy performance can be enhanced remarkably. Numerical results are delivered to corroborate the derived results.

Secrecy performance of an uplink-downlink cooperative PD-NOMA DF network in PLS

Thi Anh Le, H. Y. KONG

In this paper, we investigate the secrecy performance of an uplink-downlink power domain non-orthogonal multiple access (PD-NOMA) system with imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC) in physical layer security (PLS). In the proposed system, two source users (SUs) communicate with two destination users (DUs) with the help of a cluster of multi-relay nodes using the decode-and-forward (DF) protocol in the presence of multi-eavesdroppers. These eavesdroppers try to overhear the wireless signal around the DUs. In our system, the selected DF-relay node also works as a jammer to improve security and protect confidential information from multi-eavesdroppers. In this role, the DF-relay node generates a jamming signal, creating artificial interference to reduce the quality of the eavesdropping channels. To evaluate the secrecy performance of the system, we derived the analytical expressions of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) for both DUs using three relay selection strategies over Rayleigh fading channels and used Monte Carlo simulations to confirm the accuracy of our calculations. Furthermore, we examined the effects of system parameters such as the number of eavesdroppers and DF relaying nodes, the power allocation, SIC performance, the position of eavesdropper on the SOP of the two DUs. We compared the performance of our proposed NOMA system with those of conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) schemes.
