Abstract

This paper clarifies the secure capacity in a secure information sharing among multiple destinations by using artificial noise and mirroring null steering (MNS) constructed by cooperative relays in single antenna networks. The MNS can selectively pass the desired signal to all destinations and remove artificial noise. Because the destinations archive high-quality received signals and the other systems cannot, secure information sharing can be achieved from a physical layer security perspective.

Secure information sharing with mirroring null steering through untrusted relay with two antennas

This paper proposes the novel secure information sharing among wireless nodes by the physical layer security based on multi-antenna null steering. For secure wireless communication, the secure information like the common key of cypher should be shared among nodes before data transmission. However, in wireless adhoc network, the untrusted relay node may steal the data under relay process. In the proposed sharing, a source node and two sink nodes send the information conveying signal and the artificial noises to relay station, simultaneously for avoiding decoding the information in the untrusted relay. After amplifying and forwarding relay, the two nodes do not decode the information from the received signal without removing artificial noises. The untrusted relay constructs the null steering with two antennas for removing the artificial noise. Since the channel transfer functions through which the two artificial noises are passed are common, the null points to two sink nodes can be constructed. As a result, the two nodes can remove the artificial noises. This null steering is mirroring null steering. The computer simulation shows the effect of proposed information sharing in terms of secure capacity.

Transmit control for secure information sharing in untrusted relay with two antennas

Noguchi Tetsuya, Osamu Takyu, Fumihito Sasamori +3 more

Relay network assisted wireless terminal has an advantage for easily constructing wireless network but a disadvantage for information leak to the wireless terminal. For secure wireless communication, an encryption but the sharing of secrete key between information source and destination are required. A secure information sharing with artificial noise and mirroring null steering for avoiding the information leak to untrusted relay has been proposed. In this paper, for enhancing the security of this proposed secure information sharing, we consider two transmit controls, transmit power control (TPC) and the adaptive node selection of information source. We evaluate the secure capacity by computer simulation.

Performance evaluation of the physical layer security using artificial noise and relay station

Kabeya Junichi, Osamu Takyu, Tomoaki Otsuki Ohtsuki +2 more

In the physical layer security (PLS), the beam forming with multiple antennas enhances the received signal power at the legitimate user but suppresses it at the other users. The other users hardly demodulate the information without the bit error. However, if the channel state between the legitimate user and the other one is highly correlated, it is possible for the other users to demodulate the information signal. This paper proposes the novel secure communication system with utilizing the artificial noise and the relay station. When the legitimate user emits the artificial noise, the relay station receives the information bearing signal and the artificial noise. The other users cannot demodulate the information due to the interference of artificial noise. After the relay forwards the combined signal between the information bearing signal and the artificial noise to the legitimate user, the artificial noise is removed from the forwarded signal by the legitimate user. As a result, the legitimate user can demodulate the information. Therefore, the secure wireless communication can be constructed. This paper evaluates the secure capacity for the various location of eavesdropper and clarifies the validity of proposed system.

Cooperative Relay Transmission under Physical Layer Security for Non-Orthogonal Networks

Mohammed Ahmed Salem, Azlan Abd Aziz, Mohamad Yusoff Alias

In this paper, the secrecy performance for a downlink cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communication system is studied under two cases. In the first case, the presence of an untrusted user is studied. While, the presence of an eavesdropper node is considered in the second case. The base station transmits superimposed information signals to the half-duplex two-way relay node. The relay amplifies-and-forwards the received signal towards the users. This paper studies the effectiveness of two factors on the secrecy performance in terms of secrecy capacity. these factors are the power allocated for each user, and the distance between the untrusted user and the cooperative relay node with respect to the strong user. Moreover, this paper proposes the shared jamming signal strategy in order to enhance the physical layer security of the cooperative NOMA in the presence of an eavesdropper node. Furthermore, simulations of the secrecy capacity are presented and compared with a conventional scheme based on null-steering jamming scheme. Based on the result the proposed technique outperforms the conventional technique in terms the of secrecy capacity.

Physical layer security with uncoordinated helpers implementing cooperative jamming

Shuangyu Luo, Jiangyuan Li, Athina P. Petropulu

1A wireless communication network is considered, consisting of a source, a destination and an eavesdropper, each equipped with a single antenna. The communication is assisted by multiple multi-antenna helpers, which independently transmit jamming noise to confound the eavesdropper. The optimal structure of the jamming noise that maximizes the secrecy rate is derived. A suboptimal solution that results in nulling at the legitimate receiver is also considered. Unlike the optimal solution, which requires global channel information, the suboptimal solution requires local channel information only, i.e., each helper needs to know only its own channel to the destination. Although the nulling solution results in lower secrecy rate as compared to the optimal solution, simulations show that the difference is rather small, with the inexpensive and easy to implement nulling scheme performing near optimal.
