Abstract

Relay network assisted wireless terminal has an advantage for easily constructing wireless network but a disadvantage for information leak to the wireless terminal. For secure wireless communication, an encryption but the sharing of secrete key between information source and destination are required. A secure information sharing with artificial noise and mirroring null steering for avoiding the information leak to untrusted relay has been proposed. In this paper, for enhancing the security of this proposed secure information sharing, we consider two transmit controls, transmit power control (TPC) and the adaptive node selection of information source. We evaluate the secure capacity by computer simulation.

Secure information sharing with mirroring null steering through untrusted relay with two antennas

Noguchi Tetsuya, Osamu Takyu, Takeo Fujii +3 more

This paper proposes the novel secure information sharing among wireless nodes by the physical layer security based on multi-antenna null steering. For secure wireless communication, the secure information like the common key of cypher should be shared among nodes before data transmission. However, in wireless adhoc network, the untrusted relay node may steal the data under relay process. In the proposed sharing, a source node and two sink nodes send the information conveying signal and the artificial noises to relay station, simultaneously for avoiding decoding the information in the untrusted relay. After amplifying and forwarding relay, the two nodes do not decode the information from the received signal without removing artificial noises. The untrusted relay constructs the null steering with two antennas for removing the artificial noise. Since the channel transfer functions through which the two artificial noises are passed are common, the null points to two sink nodes can be constructed. As a result, the two nodes can remove the artificial noises. This null steering is mirroring null steering. The computer simulation shows the effect of proposed information sharing in terms of secure capacity.

Performance Evaluation of Information-Sharing Scheme Among Multiple Destinations with Mirroring Null Steering in Single Antenna Networks

T. Noguchi, Osamu Takyu, Takeo Fujii +1 more

This paper clarifies the secure capacity in a secure information sharing among multiple destinations by using artificial noise and mirroring null steering (MNS) constructed by cooperative relays in single antenna networks. The MNS can selectively pass the desired signal to all destinations and remove artificial noise. Because the destinations archive high-quality received signals and the other systems cannot, secure information sharing can be achieved from a physical layer security perspective.

Physical layer network coding with multiple untrusted relays for physical layer security

Yamaguchi Kazuma, Osamu Takyu, Tomoaki Otsuki Ohtsuki +2 more

We proposed the physical layer security (PLS) under the untrusted relay in the wireless communication with the physical layer network coding (PLNC). In PLNC, the two information source accesses the relay station, simultaneously and thus it is difficult for the relay station to demodulate each signal due to the masking-effect from the other signal. As a result, the leakage of information to the untrusted relay is avoidable. The transmit power control (TPC) for the balancing between the two received signal powers is powerful. The secure capacity is enlarged but has not been optimized for maximizing the secure capacity. In this paper, the quasi-optimization of TPC for enlarging secure capacity is derived in the wireless communication with the untrusted relay and PLNC.

Secure Transmission for Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer in AF Untrusted Relay Networks

Hui Shi, Weiwei Yang, Dechuan Chen +2 more

This paper investigates secure communications of energy harvesting untrusted relay networks, where the destination assists jamming signal to prevent the untrusted relay from eavesdropping and to improve the forwarding ability of the energy constrained relay. Firstly, the source and the destination transmit the signals to the relay with maximal ratio transmission (MRT) technique or transmit antenna selection (TAS) technique. Then, the destination utilizes maximal ratio combining (MRC) technique or receive antenna selection (RAS) technique to receive the forwarded information. Therefore, four transmission and reception schemes are considered. For each scheme, the closed-form expressions of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the connection outage probability (COP) are derived. Besides, the effective secrecy throughput (EST) metric is analyzed to achieve a good tradeoff between security and reliability. In addition, the asymptotic performance of EST is also considered at the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Finally, simulation results illustrate that: (1) the EST of the system with MRT and MRC scheme are superior to other schemes, however, in the high SNR regime, the EST of the system with MRT scheme is inferior to TAS; and (2) for the source node, there exists an optimal number of antennas to maximize the EST of the proposed schemes.

Adaptive Secure Transmission for RF-EH Untrusted Relaying with Alien Eavesdropping

Asma Mabrouk, Ahmed El Shafie, Kamel Tourki +1 more

An adaptive cooperative scheme is proposed to improve the security of a wireless-powered relay network. A source node sends data to a destination node in the presence of an amplify-and-forward untrusted relay node and an alien eavesdropper where both are assumed to attempt to decode the source’s information signal. The source uses a fraction of its transmit power to send a jamming signal to keep its information confidential. To save energy, the energy-harvesting relay node transmits with the minimum power level that ensures secure transmissions. We derive a closed-form upper bound on the system’s secrecy outage probability. The proposed cooperative scheme is more efficient than the conventional scheme, where once the relay has accumulated sufficient energy, it assists the source’s information transmission.

Beamforming for Secure Communication via Untrusted Relay Nodes Using Artificial Noise

Siddhartha Sarma

A two-phase beamforming solution for secure communication using untrusted relay nodes is presented. To thwart eavesdropping attempts of relay nodes, we deliberately introduce artificial noise in the source message. After pointing out the incongruity in evaluating secrecy rate in our model for certain scenarios, we provide an SNR based frame work for secure communication. We intend to bring down the SNR at each of the untrusted relay nodes below a certain predefined threshold, whereas, using beamforming we want to boost the SNR at the destination. With this motive optimal scaling vector is evaluated for beamforming phase which not only nullifies the artificial noise transmitted initially, but also maximizes the SNR at the destination. We discuss both the total and individual power constraint scenarios and provide analytical solution for both of them.
