Tailor-made Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing processes and their applications to optical devices

Chiaki Ohae, Junpeng Zheng, Masaru Suzuki +2 more

We theoretically and experimentally show the tailor-made Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing process. We also demonstrate an attractive application of this tailored nonlinear frequency mixing as an optical device, namely, nonlinear Mach-Zehnder interferometer in the frequency domain.

Arbitrary dual-frequency generation in Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing process

Jian Zheng, M. Katsuragawa

Arbitrary phase control leads to freely designable optical-frequency-conversion. As an example, we discuss arbitrarily-designable dual-frequency generation in a Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing process.

Nonlinear optical processes are strongly dominated by phase relationships among electromagnetic fields involved. In this paper, we theoretically and experimentally show that in a Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing process, the first anti-Stokes and Stokes generations can be tailored in a variety of ways by manipulating the phase relationships among the relevant electromagnetic fields.

Tailored nonlinear optical process by manipulating the relative phases among the relevant electromagnetic fields

Chiaki Ohae, Junpeng Zheng, K. Ito +3 more

We describe tailoring nonlinear optical process by manipulating the spectral phases among the relevant electromagnetic fields. We demonstrate, as a typical example, an efficient generation of Stokes or anti-Stokes component in the Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing process.

We experimentally realized a nonlinear interferometer which has a visibility close to 1 and can result in an enhancement of phase sensitivity with a factor of 2G2 compared to the linear interferometer.
