Abstract

The interaction between solitons, propagating in a magnetic chain, with a qubit is studied. The spin chain is described by the Heisenberg model in a nearest-neighbour approximation with anisotropy. The quantum bit (qubit) is modeled by a two level quantum system. The equation for the evolution of the qubit is obtained. The role of the parameters of the soliton for the quantum bit dynamics is investigated. The results are analyzed using a geometrical representation for the qubit as a Bloch sphere.

Control of a qubit state by a soliton propagating through a Heisenberg spin chain

S. Varbev, I. Boradjiev, R. Kamburova +1 more

We demonstrate that nonlinear magnetic solitary excitations (solitons) traveling through a Heisenberg spin chain may be used as a robust tool capable of coherent control of the qubit's state. The physical problem is described by a Hamiltonian involving the interaction between the soliton and the qubit. We show that under certain conditions the generic Hamiltonian may be mapped on that of a qubit two-level system with matrix elements depending on the soliton parameters. We considered the action of a bright and a dark soliton depending on the driving nonlinear wave function. We considered a local interaction restricted the closest to the qubit spin in the chain. We computed the expressions of the physical quantities of interest for all cases and analyzed their behavior in some special limits.

Quench dynamics of entanglement in an open anisotropic spin- 12 Heisenberg chain

Jie Ren, Shiqun Zhu

The quantum entanglement dynamics of a one-dimensional spin-$1/2$ anisotropic $\mathit{XXZ}$ model is studied using the method of the adaptive time-dependent density-matrix renormalization group when two cases of quenches are performed in the system. An anisotropic interaction quench and the maximum number of domain walls of a staggered magnetization quench are considered. The dynamics of the pairwise entanglement between the nearest two qubits in the spin chain is investigated. The entanglement of the two spin qubits can be created and oscillates in both cases of the quench. The anisotropic interaction has a strong influence on the oscillation frequency of the entanglement.

Time evolution of entanglement in a four-qubit Heisenberg chain

Hassan Pakarzadeh, Zahra Norouzi, Javad Vahedi

The phenomenon of quantum entanglement has a very important role in quantum mechanics. Particularly, the quantum spin chain provides a platform for theoretical and experimental investigation of many-body entanglement. In this paper, we investigate time evolution of entanglement in a four-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg XXZ chain with nearest neighboring (NN), the next nearest neighboring (NNN), and the Dzialoshinskii-Moriya (DM) interactions. Calculations of the entanglement evolution of the Werner state carried out in terms of concurrence for selected ranges of control parameters such as DM interaction, frustration, etc. The results show that for the Werner state, DM interaction and the frustration parameters play important roles. Furthermore, results show that the time evolution of the Werner state entanglement may be useful to capture the quantum phase transitions in quantum magnetic systems.

Quantum gates controlled by spin chain soliton excitations

Alessandro Cuccoli, Davide Nuzzi, Ruggero Vaia +1 more

Propagation of soliton-like excitations along spin chains has been proposed as a possible way for transmitting both classical and quantum information between two distant parties with negligible dispersion and dissipation. In this work, a somewhat different use of solitons is considered. Solitons propagating along a spin chain realize an effective magnetic field, well localized in space and time, which can be exploited as a means to manipulate the state of an external spin (i.e., a qubit) that is weakly coupled to the chain. We have investigated different couplings between the qubit and the chain, as well as different soliton shapes, according to a Heisenberg chain model. It is found that symmetry properties strongly affect the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, and the most suitable setups for implementing single qubit quantum gates are singled out.

Effects of Anisotropy on Pair-wise Entanglement of a Four-Qubit Heisenberg XXZ Chain

Cao Min, Zhu Shi-Qun

The pair-wise thermal entanglement in a four-qubit Heisenberg XXZ chain is investigated to study the role of anisotropy when an external magnetic field is included. It is found that pair-wise entanglement is absent between nearest- and next-nearest neighbouring qubits with anisotropic parameter Δ⩽−1. For two nearest-neighbouring qubits, increasing the parameter can not only induce the entanglement, but also extend the entanglement region in terms of magnetic field B and temperature T . For two next-nearest-neighbouring qubits, increasing anisotropic parameter can shift the location of the entanglement and control the extent of the entanglement in terms of magnetic field at a finite temperature.
