Abstract

16=4 bits of classical information via quantum hyperdense coding scheme, which is the upper bound of the transmission capacity of the quantum hyperdense coding scheme based on 16 orthogonal hyperentangled Bell states. This complete analysis protocol has a potential to be experimentally realized and is useful for high-capacity quantum communication based on hyperentangled states.

Hyperentangled Bell-state analysis and hyperdense coding assisted by auxiliary entanglement

Xihan Li, Shohini Ghose

We present a technique for hyperentangled Bell-state analysis that only relies on linear optics and is assisted by auxiliary entangled states. This technique can be used to implement hyperdense coding with an experimentally realizable two-photon state hyperentangled in polarization and two longitudinal-momentum degrees of freedom. The 16 hyperentangled states in the first two degrees of freedom are classified into 12 groups with the help of the third degree of freedom. This allows the transmission of 3.58 bits/photon via our hyperdense coding scheme. We also generalize our technique to $n$-qubit hyperentangled Bell-state analysis assisted by additional auxiliary entangled states. We show that given $n$ degrees of freedom, the ${4}^{n}$ hyperentangled Bell states can be separated via linear optics into ${x}_{k}={2}^{n+k+1}\ensuremath{-}{2}^{2k}$ groups with the help of $k\phantom{\rule{4pt}{0ex}}(k\ensuremath{\le}n)$ ancillary entangled states. When $k=n$, all ${4}^{n}$ hyperentangled states can be distinguished. Our results are useful for quantum information processing based on hyperentanglement.

Hyperentanglement-assisted Bell-state analysis

Stephen Patrick Walborn, Sebastião Pádua, Carlos Henrique Monken

We propose a simple scheme for complete Bell-state measurement of photons using hyperentangled states---entangled in multiple degrees of freedom. In addition to hyperentanglement, our scheme requires only linear optics and single photon detectors, and is realizable with current technology. At the cost of additional classical communication, our Bell-state measurement can be implemented nonlocally. We discuss the possible application of these results to quantum dense coding and quantum teleportation.

Quantum Hyperdense Coding for Distributed Communications

Sándor Imre

Superdense coding proved that entanglement-assisted quantum communications can improve the data transmission rates compared to classical systems. It allows sending 2 classical bits between the parties in exchange of 1 quantum bit and a pre-shared entangled Bell pair. This paper introduces a new protocol which is intended for distributed communication. Using a pre-shared entangled Bell pair and 1 classical bit 2,5 classical bits can be transmitted in average. This means not only valuable increase in capacity but the two-way distributed operation opens new fields of investigation.

Complete hyperentangled Bell state analysis assisted by hyperentanglement

Zhi Zeng, Ka-Di Zhu

Abstract We present a simple scheme for the complete analysis of hyperentangled Bell states in polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedom (DOFs) assisted by time-bin–frequency hyperentanglement. In previous schemes of distinguishing the 16 hyperentangled Bell states, many non-linear interaction systems are widely used to construct a quantum gate, such as cross-Kerr non-linearity, quantum-dot spin in an optical microcavity and nitrogen-vacancy centers in a resonator. In our scheme, we utilize the time-bin and frequency DOFs of a photon system as the auxiliary DOFs to analyze polarization–spatial-mode hyperentangled Bell states, and the distinguishing principle is quite different from the former schemes that use the non-linear interactions. As the manipulation of time-bin and frequency DOFs of photons is efficient and feasible with current technology, this scheme will be useful for high-capacity quantum information processing based on hyperentanglement.

Complete hyperentangled-Bell-state analysis for photon systems assisted by quantum-dot spins in optical microcavities

Bao-Cang Ren, Hai-Rui Wei, Ming Hua +2 more

Bell-state analysis (BSA) is essential in quantum communication, but it is impossible to distinguish unambiguously the four Bell states in the polarization degree of freedom (DOF) of two-photon systems with only linear optical elements, except for the case in which the BSA is assisted with hyperentangled states, the simultaneous entanglement in more than one DOF. Here, we propose a scheme to distinguish completely the 16 hyperentangled Bell states in both the polarization and the spatial-mode DOFs of two-photon systems, by using the giant nonlinear optics in quantum dot-cavity systems. This scheme can be applied to increase the channel capacity of long-distance quantum communication based on hyperentanglement, such as entanglement swapping, teleportation, and superdense coding. We use hyperentanglement swapping as an example to show the application of this HBSA.

Self-assisted deterministic hyperentangled-Bell-state analysis for polarization and double longitudinal momentum degrees of freedom of photon system

Chang‐Qi Yu, Zheng Zhang, Ji Qi +1 more

Hyperentangled state analysis is an important module in high-capacity quantum communication. We present a self-assisted deterministic hyperentangled-Bell-state analysis (HBSA) scheme for photon system entangled in three degrees of freedom (DOFs), where 64 polarization-double longitudinal momentum hyperentangled Bell states are completely distinguished. In this HBSA scheme, the four first longitudinal momentum Bell states are distinguished determinately by nondestructive first longitudinal momentum Bell state analyzer, which is constructed with cross-Kerr nonlinearity medium. The 16 second longitudinal momentum-polarization hyperentangled Bell states are distinguished determinately by self-assisted second longitudinal momentum-polarization hyperentangled Bell state analyzer using linear optical elements, where the first longitudinal momentum Bell state and time-bin entangled state are used as auxiliary. Using this self-assisted method, the application of nonlinear optical resource in HBSA scheme has been largely reduced, which makes this self-assisted deterministic HBSA scheme has potential application prospects in high-capacity quantum communication.
