Abstract

Abstract Quantum information processing requires information or entanglement that can be transferred or distributed from one location to another with high fidelity. Here, a scheme for faithful quantum state transfer and entanglement generation based on the hybrid opto‐electro‐mechanical (OEM) systems in a fast and deterministic way is proposed. By applying invariant‐based inverse engineering to the interaction Hamiltonian, the couplings in the OEM system can be controlled by asynchronized driving fields, which is convenient to be realized in practice. Taking the systematic decoherence into consideration, the numerical simulation shows that the scheme can be implemented with less time and high fidelity. Therefore, the scheme provides a promising way for robust on‐chip converting of low‐frequency electrical signal into much higher‐frequency optical signal, and thus enabling large‐scale quantum information networks to grow in size and complexity.

Quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems via shortcut to adiabaticity

Xiao Ming Zhou, Bao-Jie Liu, L-B Shao +2 more

Abstract Adiabatic processes have found many important applications in modern physics, the distinct merit of which is that accurate control over process timing is not required. However, such processes are slow, which limits their application in quantum computation, due to the limited coherent times of typical quantum systems. Here, we propose a scheme to implement quantum state conversion in opto-electro-mechanical systems via a shortcut to adiabaticity, where the process can be greatly speeded up while precise timing control is still not necessary. In our scheme, by modifying only the coupling strength, we can achieve fast quantum state conversion with high fidelity, where the adiabatic condition does not need to be met. In addition, the population of the unwanted intermediate state can be further suppressed. Therefore, our protocol presents an important step towards practical state conversion between optical and microwave photons, and thus may find many important applications in hybrid quantum information processing.

Controllable high-fidelity quantum state transfer and entanglement generation in circuit QED

Peng Xu, Xu-Chen Yang, Feng Mei +1 more

We propose a scheme to realize controllable quantum state transfer and entanglement generation among transmon qubits in the typical circuit QED setup based on adiabatic passage. Through designing the time-dependent driven pulses applied on the transmon qubits, we find that fast quantum sate transfer can be achieved between arbitrary two qubits and quantum entanglement among the qubits also can also be engineered. Furthermore, we numerically analyzed the influence of the decoherence on our scheme with the current experimental accessible systematical parameters. The result shows that our scheme is very robust against both the cavity decay and qubit relaxation, the fidelities of the state transfer and entanglement preparation process could be very high. In addition, our scheme is also shown to be insensitive to the inhomogeneous of qubit-resonator coupling strengths.

Efficient Photon Transfer in a Three‐Mode System via Periodic Modulation of an Intermediate Mode

Huanli Yuan, Chenxi Zhou, Hongda Yin

ABSTRACT Efficient and robust quantum state transfer between distinct optical modes is a cornerstone for on‐chip quantum networks and integrated quantum information processing. Here, we propose a protocol for fast photon transfer in a three‐mode system consisting of two optical cavities and an intermediate bosonic mode that is subjected to a periodic frequency modulation. In contrast to conventional adiabatic methods that require time‐varying coupling strengths, our scheme only modulates the frequency of the intermediate mode, significantly reducing experimental complexity. By mapping the dynamics onto a Landau–Zener–Stückelberg–Majorana (LZSM) interference model, we show that the bright normal mode accumulates a phase, enabling complete photon transfer from one cavity to the other. We systematically analyze the weak‐, strong‐, and intermediate‐driving regimes and demonstrate that the intermediate regime yields both high speed and prolonged target‐mode occupation, making the transfer resilient to timing errors. The protocol naturally extends to multi‐photon Fock states. Furthermore, we map the model onto a practical cavity optomechanical system with a mechanical oscillator as the intermediate mode, where numerical simulations based on realistic parameters confirm a transfer fidelity superior to recent two‐photon LZSM schemes. Our results provide a practical route toward fast, low‐complexity photon transfers in integrated optomechanical and microcavity systems.

An effective shortcut to adiabatic passage for fast quantum state transfer in a cavity quantum electronic dynamics system

Mei Lu, Yan Xia, Li-Tuo Shen +1 more

We propose an alternative scheme for constructing a shortcut to implement the quantum state transfer between two three-level atoms founded on the invariant-based inverse engineering in a cavity quantum electronic dynamics (QED) system. Quantum information can be quickly transferred between atoms by taking advantage of the cavity field as a medium. Through our design of the time-dependent laser pulse and atom–cavity coupling, we send atoms through the cavity within a short time interval, which involves the two processes of the invariant dynamics between each atom and the cavity field simultaneously. We redesign a reasonable Gaussian-type wave form in the atom–cavity coupling for a realistic experimental operation. Numerical simulation shows that the target state can be quickly populated with a high fidelity which is robust against both the parameter fluctuations and the dissipation.

Fast population transfer and entanglement preparation among four superconducting flux qubits

Peng Xu, Shengmei Zhao

Abstract We propose a scheme whereby we optimized the driven pulses applied on qubits to realize fast and robust population of quantum state transfer and entanglement generation between four superconducting flux qubits based on adiabatic passage. The quantum state was transferred from one qubit to another directly with high fidelity through applying an inverted set of pulses. Moreover, the resident time of the quantum state populated on the qubits could be controlled by adjusting the time delay between the driven pulses during the transfer process. Analysis of the dynamics demonstrates that the scheme is insensitive to inhomogeneous qubit–resonator coupling, and even for large detuning regimes of the qubit–resonator interaction, high-fidelity quantum state transfer and entanglement generation can be obtained. Our results also show that the effect of decoherence due to resonator decay and qubit relaxation could be negligible with currently existing technology.

Generation of an Enhanced Multi‐Mode Optomechanical‐Like Quantum System and Its Application in Creating Hybrid Entangled States

Qi‐Cheng Wu, Y. H. Zhou, Biao‐Liang Ye +4 more

Abstract Realizing strong optomechanical interaction at a few‐photon level is one of the most significant tasks in optomechanical physics. In this paper, an efficient approach to realize an enhanced optomechanical‐like coupling in a cross‐Kerr‐type coupled three‐mode optical cavity system via a driving field is presented. It is shown that the optomechanical‐like coupling can be strongly enhanced to enter the ultrastrong‐coupling regime, and the effects of cavity field damping can be effectively restrained by adjusting the driving field and the cavity frequencies. In addition, as an application of the enhanced multimode optomechanical‐like quantum system, a scheme is propsed to deterministically generate a hybrid Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger state. Numerical simulation reveals that the scheme is reliable and robust against various dissipation effects and the fluctuations of control parameters in current technology. This work has potential applications in quantum information processing and paves the way for the study of multimode optomechanical systems.
