Many Body Quantum Chaos

Sandro Wimberger

The field of chaos in many-body quantum systems has a long history, going back to Wigner's simple models for heavy nuclei. Quantum chaos is being investigated in a broad variety of experimental platforms such as heavy nuclei, driven (few-electron) atoms, ultracold quantum gases, and photonic or microwave realizations. Quantum chaos plays a new and important role in many branches of physics, from condensed matter problems of many-body localization, including thermalization studies in closed and open quantum systems, and the question of dynamical stability relevant for quantum information and quantum simulation. This Special Issue and its related book address theories and experiments, methods from classical chaos, semiclassics, and random matrix theory, as well as many-body condensed matter physics. It is dedicated to Prof. Shmuel Fishman, who was one of the major representatives of the field over almost four decades, who passed away in 2019.

Детерминизм и вероятность как фундаментальные основы природы

М. Б. Челноков

The present state of the problem of determinism and causality in quantum mechanics and various points of view on the nature of microparticles are discussed. A classification of microparticles by sizes of their region of existence is carried out. The analogy is considered between the disintegration and stability of a neutron, on the one hand, and radioactive and stable nuclei, on the other hand. The idea on possibility of radioactive nuclei stabilization for solving the problems of disposal of radioactive wastes and elimination of consequences of nuclear disasters is stated.

Abstract The spherical limit of a single particle in the field of three nuclei is shown to exhibit a variety of phenomena associated with the stability of the various extrema involved. Some consequences with respect to the general problem of detecting broken symmetry solutions of variational problems are pointed out.
