Abstract One of the challenging tasks in quantum control is to manipulate quantum systems with high fidelity and as fast as possible. Simulated Raman shortcuts to adiabatic passage with invariant-based optimal control is an efficient technique accurately used to transfer population between two quantum states in three-level systems. This technique requires tuning parameters continuously which results in analog quantum control. However, a digital quantum controller design is of great importance in the era of digital quantum computing. Here, we use deep reinforcement learning to obtain digital Stokes and pump fields that can realize fast and accurate population transfer between states with the same parity in the three-level Λ configuration. We find that deep reinforcement learning follows exactly theshortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) based on dynamical invariant and leads to a robust population transfer against systematic errors and dephasing. This is a promising enhancement in digital quantum information processing.
Optimal control of quantum system is significant for information science and technology. Here, an efficient scheme is proposed for implementing fast population transfer in a spin qutrit of nitrogen-vacancy center via shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA) with simplified drivings. At two-photon resonance, a
Λ -configuration interaction between the spin qutrit and driving fields can be obtained effectively. By the invariant-based STA, the reversible population transfer can be realized using the Rabi pulses with sine and cosine waveforms. Compared with the superadiabatic transitionless driving, the present pulses in our strategy become simplified technically, contributing to reduce the error effect of control parameter deviations. Moreover, the high-fidelity quantum operations can be performed with the accessible decoherence rates. The protocol could offer an optimized avenue towards the STA-based quantum control of spin qutrit experimentally.
Abstract We propose a scheme to inverse engineer the Hamiltonian of any general driven three-level system by employing a SU(3) transformation. For special cases, the scheme is then introduced to explore nonadiabatic dynamic evolution of systems with two-photon resonance. We demonstrate that, by selecting the control parameters with explicit function forms, both the ideal process and the practical evolution driving with the truncation of pulses, systematic error and decaying can implement fast population transfer with high fidelity. Moreover, the nonadiabatic passages are not reconstructed by the superadiabatic approach.
