Heisenberg uncertainty principle and its analogues in higher dimension: via Wigdersons' method

Yiyu Tang

The following question was proposed by Avi Wigderson and Yuval Wigderson: Is it possible to use the method in their paper(The uncertainty principle: variations on a theme) to prove Heisenberg uncertainty principle in higher dimension R^d, and get the correct dependence of the constant on d? We answer this question affirmatively, and also prove some generalizations of Heisenberg uncertainty principle in R^d via Wigdersons' method.

Modified entropies as the origin of generalized uncertainty principles

Nana Cabo Bizet, Octavio Obregón, Wilfredo Yupanqui

The Heisenberg uncertainty principle is known to be connected to the entropic uncertainty principle. This correspondence is obtained employing a Gaussian probability distribution for wave functions associated to the Shannon entropy. Independently, due to quantum gravity effects the Heisenberg uncertainty principle has been extended to a Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). In this work, we show that GUP has been derived from considering non-extensive entropies, proposed by one of us. We found that the deformation parameters associated with S+ and S− entropies are negative and positive respectively. This allows us to explore various possibilities in the search of physical implications. We conclude that non-extensive statistics constitutes a signature of quantum gravity.

Anti Heisenberg—The End of Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle

Ilija Barukčić

In contrast to many other physical theories, quantum mechanics is generally regarded as above any theory we have ever had and perhaps the best candidate for a universal and fundamental description of objective realty as such. Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle is not the only aspect of the conceptual difference between quantum and classical physics but is certainly one of the most important and famous aspects of quantum mechanics. As we will see, quantum mechanics as a theory and especially Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle challenges not only our imagination but violates some fundamental principles of classical logic as such. Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle is refuted.
