Abstract

Collaborative communication and physical layer information security are two valuable aspects in the field of modern wireless communication. Combining the characteristics of the two, the physical layer security model based on cooperative communication is studied, and the amplification and forwarding strategy and cooperation among them in this paper, the best security capacity of congestion strategy is analyzed. In the light of the fact that related researches do not involve the analysis of performance scenarios, the comparison of security capacity performance under different scenarios is carried out for amplification forwarding strategy and collaborative congestion strategy. Simulation studies show that the amplification and forwarding strategy is more stable and less susceptible to scenario changes than the cooperative congestion strategy. In addition, the performance improvement caused by the increased number of relay antennas is also equivalent to increasing the number of trunks.

Research on Physical Layer Security Schemes Based on Cooperative Wireless Communication

Song Wenbo

The significant concepts in the area of wireless communication are cooperative communication and physical layer security. Since current related research does not involve detailed performance analysis in different scenarios, the performance in different scenarios between amplify-and-forward scheme and cooperative-jamming scheme is compared. In combination with the characteristics of the both concepts, the physical layer security model based on cooperative communication, and the optimal secrecy capacity on amplify-and-forward scheme and cooperative-jamming scheme is analyzed. The number increase of antennas for relays can improve the secrecy performance, just like the number increase of relays. Simulation results show that amplify-and-forward scheme is more difficult to be effected by the scenarios and is more stable than cooperative-jamming scheme.

The Physical Layer Security Experiments of Cooperative Communication System with Different Relay Behaviors

Yishan Su, Guangyao Han, Xiaomei Fu +2 more

Physical layer security is an attractive security mechanism, which exploits the randomness characteristics of wireless transmission channel to achieve security. However, it is hampered by the limitation of the channel condition that the main channel must be better than the eavesdropper channel. To alleviate the limitation, cooperative communication is introduced. Few studies have investigated the physical layer security of the relay transmission model. In this paper, we performed some experiments to evaluate the physical layer security of a cooperative communication system, with a relay operating in decode-and-forward (DF) cooperative mode, selfish and malicious behavior in real non-ideal transmission environment. Security performance is evaluated in terms of the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity. Experiments showed some different results compared to theoretical simulation: (1) to achieve the maximum secrecy capacity, the optimal relay power according to the experiments result is larger than that of ideal theoretical results under both cooperative and selfish behavior relay; (2) the relay in malicious behavior who forwards noise to deteriorate the main channel may deteriorate the eavesdropper channel more seriously than the main channel; (3) the optimal relay positions under cooperative and selfish behavior relay cases are both located near the destination because of non-ideal transmission.

Enhancing Physical Layer Security Through Cooperation in Wireless Networks

Jovana Božović, Enis Kočan

Physical Layer Security (PLS) provides a promising complementary approach to cryptographic methods for protecting wireless communications from eavesdropping. This paper investigates secrecy enhancement through cooperative relaying and jamming in a wireless network with two legitimate users, one eavesdropper, and five potential relay nodes operating in amplify-and-forward mode. Three relay–jammer selection strategies are considered: random relay and jammer selection, best-SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) relay with random jammer selection, and best-SNR relay with a jammer chosen based on the strongest channel toward the eavesdropper. The secrecy performance of these strategies are evaluated in terms of secrecy rate and secrecy outage probability. The results demonstrate that intelligent relay and jammer selection can significantly improve PLS compared to random selection, highlighting the benefits of cooperation in secure wireless systems.

Physical Layer Security Analysis of Cooperative Mobile Communication Systems with Eavesdropper Employing MRC

Semiha Koşu, Serdar Özgür Ata, Lütfiye Durak-Ata

In this paper, physical layer security (PLS) analysis of a cooperative wireless communication system in which the source and destination nodes communicate via a relay employing decode-and-forward protocol is performed for double Rayleigh fading channel model. For the system where the source, relay and target have single antenna, an eavesdropper with multiantenna listens the source and relay together by using maximum-ratio-combining, secrecy outage and positive secrecy capacity possibilities are obtained in closed-form. The theoretical results are verified by Monte-Carlo simulations. From the results, it is observed that as the number of antennas of the eavesdropper is increased, the PLS performance of the system worsens.

Research on Physical Layer Security of MIMO Two-way Relay System

Zhiqiang Li, Shuai Han

MIMO system makes full use of the space dimension, in the era of increasingly tense spectrum resources, which greatly improves the spectrum efficiency and is one of the future communication support technologies. At the same time, considering the high cost of direct communication between the two parties in a long distance, the relay communication mode has been paid more and more attention. In relay communication network, each node connected by relay has different security levels. In order to forward the information of all nodes, the relay node has the lowest security permission level. Therefore, it is meaningful to study the physical layer security problem in MIMO two-way relay system with relay as the eavesdropper. In view of the above situation, this paper proposes the physical layer security model of MIMO two-way relay cooperative communication network, designs a communication matching grouping algorithm with low complexity and a two-step carrier allocation optimization algorithm, which improves the total security capacity of the system. At the same time, theoretical analysis and simulation verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

A Coalitional Formation Game for Physical Layer Security of Cooperative Compressive Sensing Multi-Relay Networks

Jialun Li, Shuai Chang, Xiaomei Fu +3 more

Cooperative relaying is an effective technology to improve the capacity of physical-layer security, in which the relay helps forward the received signal to the destination. In this paper, a cooperative compressive sensing and amplify-and-forward (CCS-AF) scheme, which combines the compressive sensing theory and amplify-and-forward strategy, is proposed to increase the secrecy capacity. To optimize the secrecy performance, a coalition formation algorithm based on coalitional game theory of optimal relay selection is proposed to maximize the secrecy capacity. Different to maximizing the individual utility based on the traditional pareto order, the max-coalition order rule is newly defined to guide the coalitional formation. Simulation results indicate that with the proposed algorithm, part of the relays could form a coalition to forward the information and the proposed algorithm could significantly improve the secrecy capacity of cooperative multi-relay networks.
