Abstract

We investigate non-classical correlations (entanglement and quantum discord) and quantum coherence for an open two-qubit system each independently coupled to a bosonic environment and a spin environment, respectively. The modulating effects of spin environment and bosonic environment are respectively explored. A relation among the quantum coherence, quantum discord and classical correlation is found during the sudden transition phenomenon. We also compare the case of mixed environments with that of the same environments, showing that the dynamics is dramatically changed.

Decoherence for a two-qubit system in a spin-chain environment

Yang Yang, An Min Wang, Lian-Zhen Cao +2 more

The quantum coherence and correlation dynamics for a two-qubit system in the Ising spin-chain environment are studied. A sudden change of coherence is found near the critical point, which provides us with an effective way to detect the quantum phase transition. By studying the relationship between quantum discord and coherence, we find that coherence displays the behavior of classical correlation for t < t 0 , and of quantum discord for t > t 0 , where t 0 is the time-point of a sudden transition between classical and quantum decoherence.

DYNAMICS OF QUANTUM CORRELATIONS IN TWO-QUBIT SYSTEMS WITHIN NON-MARKOVIAN ENVIRONMENTS

Rosario Lo Franco, Bruno Bellomo, Sabrina Maniscalco +1 more

Knowledge of the dynamical behavior of correlations with no classical counterpart, like entanglement, nonlocal correlations and quantum discord, in open quantum systems is of primary interest because of the possibility to exploit these correlations for quantum information tasks. Here we review some of the most recent results on the dynamics of correlations in bipartite systems embedded in non-Markovian environments that, with their memory effects, influence in a relevant way the system dynamics and appear to be more fundamental than the Markovian ones for practical purposes. Firstly, we review the phenomenon of entanglement revivals in a two-qubit system for both independent environments and a common environment. We then consider the dynamics of quantum discord in non-Markovian dephasing channel and briefly discuss the occurrence of revivals of quantum correlations in classical environments.

Sudden Transition between Quantum Correlation and Classical Correlation: the Effect of Interaction between Subsystems

Jun-Yan Yan, Lincheng Wang, X. X. Yi

We study the quantum discord dynamics of a bipartite composite system in the presence of a dissipative environment and investigate the effect of the interaction between the two subsystems. The results show that the interaction can influence the sudden transition between the quantum correlation and the classical correlation and for the maximally mixed marginals initial states, the sudden transition regime will always exist. The entanglements are also discussed in comparison to the quantum discord in describing the quantum correlations.

Quantum coherence and correlation dynamics of two-qubit system in spin bath environment*

Hao Yang, Li‐Guo Qin, Li-Jun Tian +1 more

The quantum entanglement, discord, and coherence dynamics of two spins in the model of a spin coupled to a spin bath through an intermediate spin are studied. The effects of the important physical parameters including the coupling strength of two spins, the interaction strength between the intermediate spin and the spin bath, the number of bath spins and the temperature of the system on quantum coherence and correlation dynamics are discussed in different cases. The frozen quantum discord can be observed whereas coherence does not when the initial state is the Bell-diagonal state. At finite temperature, we find that coherence is more robust than quantum discord, which is better than entanglement, in terms of resisting the influence of environment. Therefore, quantum coherence is more tenacious than quantum correlation as an important resource.

Quantum correlations and coherence dynamics in qutrit–qutrit systems under mixed classical environmental noises

Arthur Tsamouo Tsokeng, Tchoffo Martin, Lukong Cornelius Fai

We investigate the dynamics of entanglement, quantum discord (QD) and state coherence in a bipartite and noninteracting spin-qutrits system under mixed classical noises. Specifically, the collective effects of static noise (SN) and random telegraphic noise (RTN) each being coupled with a marginal system, are analyzed. While the static noise models a non-Markovian environment, the dynamic noise can model both a Markovian or a non-Markovian environment, and both dynamics are studied. We show that quantum correlations and coherence may survive the noise degrading effects at sufficiently long time when the Markovian regime of the RTN is considered. Meanwhile, the opposite is found in the non-Markovian regime, wherein the nonmonotonic dynamics of quantum features avoid sudden death phenomena. However, the static noise is more fatal to the survival of quantum correlations and quantum state coherence as compared to the RTN.

QUANTUM DISCORD UNDER SYSTEM–ENVIRONMENT COUPLING: THE TWO-QUBIT CASE

Jin‐Shi Xu, Chuan‐Feng Li

Open quantum systems have attracted great attention, since inevitable coupling between quantum systems and their environment greatly affects the features of interest of these systems. Quantum discord, is a measure of the total nonclassical correlation in a quantum system that includes, but is not exclusive to, the distinct property of quantum entanglement. Quantum discord can exist in separated quantum states and plays an important role in many fundamental physics problems and practical quantum information tasks. There have been numerous investigations on quantum discord and its counterpart classical correlation. This short review focuses on highlighting the system–environment dynamics of two-qubit quantum discord and the influence of initial system–environment correlations on the dynamics of open quantum systems. The external control effect on the dynamics of open quantum systems are involved. Several related experimental works are discussed.
