Sudden Transition between Quantum Correlation and Classical Correlation: the Effect of Interaction between Subsystems

Abstract

We study the quantum discord dynamics of a bipartite composite system in the presence of a dissipative environment and investigate the effect of the interaction between the two subsystems. The results show that the interaction can influence the sudden transition between the quantum correlation and the classical correlation and for the maximally mixed marginals initial states, the sudden transition regime will always exist. The entanglements are also discussed in comparison to the quantum discord in describing the quantum correlations.

Sudden Transition between Classical and Quantum Decoherence

L. Mazzola, Jyrki Piilo, Sabrina Maniscalco

We study the dynamics of quantum and classical correlations in the presence of nondissipative decoherence. We discover a class of initial states for which the quantum correlations, quantified by the quantum discord, are not destroyed by decoherence for times t<[symbol: see text]. In this initial time interval classical correlations decay. For t>[symbol: see text], on the other hand, classical correlations do not change in time and only quantum correlations are lost due to the interaction with the environment. Therefore, at the transition time [symbol: see text] the open system dynamics exhibits a sudden transition from classical to quantum decoherence regime.

Dissipative Dynamics of Quantum and Classical Correlations for Two-Qubit Under Two-Side and One-Side Decoherence

X. Li, Mao-Fa Fang, Chengzhi Wang +1 more

The dissipative dynamics of classical correlation(CC), quantum discord(QD) and entanglement (QE) of two qubits in two-side and one-side decoherence models are inves- tigated under Markovian environments. We find the sudden change QD as well as CC and sudden death of entanglement (ESD). The results show that QD and QE decay faster with the increasing of squeezing parameter r; the dipole-dipole interaction W under two-side decoherence leads to the oscillation of quantum discord and concurrence for initial non- eigenstates; while in all cases when entanglement suddenly disappears, quantum discord keeps nonzero under same conditions.

Role of mixedness in the evolution of classical and quantum correlations under Markovian decoherence

Prasenjit Deb, Manik Banik

Quantum correlation lies at the very heart of almost all the non-classical phenomena exhibited by quantum systems composed of more than one subsystem. In the recent days it has been pointed out that there exists quantum correlation, namely discord which is more general than entanglement. Some authors have investigated that for certain initial states the quantum correlations as well as classical correlation exhibit sudden change under simple Markovian noise. We show that, this dynamical behavior of the both types of correlations can be explained using the idea of complementary correlations introduced in [arXiv:1408.6851]. We also show that though certain class of mixed entangled states can resist the monotonic decay of quantum correlations,it is not true for all mixed states. Moreover, pure entangled states of two qubits will never exhibit such sudden change.

Non-classical Correlations and Quantum Coherence in Mixed Environments

Zheng-Da Hu, Mei-Song Wei, Jicheng Wang +2 more

We investigate non-classical correlations (entanglement and quantum discord) and quantum coherence for an open two-qubit system each independently coupled to a bosonic environment and a spin environment, respectively. The modulating effects of spin environment and bosonic environment are respectively explored. A relation among the quantum coherence, quantum discord and classical correlation is found during the sudden transition phenomenon. We also compare the case of mixed environments with that of the same environments, showing that the dynamics is dramatically changed.

The transfer dynamics of quantum correlation between systems and reservoirs

Zhong‐Xiao Man, Yun‐Jie Xia, Nguyen Ba An

In this work, we study the dynamics of quantum correlation (QC) in terms of quantum discord and its transfer for multiqubit systems in dissipative environments. At first, we investigate the dynamics of bipartite QC contained in a three-qubit system that are initially prepared in an extended W-like state with each qubit coupled to an independent reservoir. Subsequently, we study a realistic quantum network of several remote nodes each of which contains two qubits in contact with a common reservoir. For the simplest case of two nodes, we study the dynamics of QC and its transfer from the initially correlated system to the reservoirs and other degrees of freedom. In both models, we pay particular attention to the independent evolution and transfer of QC without the participation of entanglement when the systems of interest are initially prepared in unentangled states. We also observe the occurrence of sudden changes of quantum discord when the systems are initially in mixed states.
