Nonclassical properties of asymmetric two two-level atoms interacting with multi-photon quantized field

Abdallah A. Nahla, M. M. A. Ahmed

A quantum model for the interaction between asymmetric two two-level atoms and an electromagnetic field is presented. The [Formula: see text]-photon processes and atom–atom interaction are considered in this quantum model. The wavefunction for asymmetric case of the proposed model is obtained analytically. While, the explicit analytical formula of the wavefunction for symmetric case was calculated in previous works. Initially, the electromagnetic field is in the coherent state and two two-level atoms are identical in the excited states. For the proposed model, some statistical aspects are obtained, such as the linear entropy, atomic population inversion, entropy squeezing, atomic variance and von Neumann entropy. The evaluations of these statistical properties are discussed for the variation in the detuning parameters. Moreover, the nonclassical effects for atom–atom interaction are observed.

Dynamics of Two-Level Atom with Moving Mass Center Considering the Multiphoton Transitions

Yi Xue-Xi

We study the effect of moving mass center on atomic dynamics for various initial conditions, and the two-level atom coupled locally in inhomogeneous cavity to a near-resonant single-mode quantized field and the atomic levels are coupled by the multiphoton transitions. Our study shows that, the Doppler effect exercised by the motion of atom can lead to the modified phenomenon of oscillation collapse and revival in the atomic population inversion at the beginning of evolution.

Negative spontaneous emission by a moving two-level atom

Sylvain Lannebère, Mário G. Silveirinha

Abstract In this paper we investigate how the dynamics of a two-level atom is affected by its interaction with the quantized near field of a plasmonic slab in relative motion. We demonstrate that for small separation distances and a relative velocity greater than a certain threshold, this interaction can lead to a population inversion, such that the probability of the excited state exceeds the probability of the ground state, corresponding to a negative spontaneous emission rate. It is shown that the developed theory is intimately related to a classical problem. The problem of quantum friction is analyzed and the differences with respect to the corresponding classical effect are highlighted.
