Electron concentration and on-site interaction effects for the spin and charge excitation spectra in the two-dimensional Hubbard model

Taiichirou Saikawa, A. Ferraz

Electron concentration and on-site interaction effects for spin and charge excitations in the two-dimensional Hubbard model are investigated. Using the auxiliary boson approach, which takes into account the spin and charge fluctuation effects, we derive an effective model which reproduces qualitatively well electronic states for the weak- and intermediate-coupling Hubbard models. The spin response function shows drastic changes as a function of the interaction and of the electron concentration. For the intermediate coupling regime, the Stoner enhancement around $\mathbf{q}=(\ensuremath{\pi},\ensuremath{\pi})$ and the spin-density-wave-like collective mode are obtained. In contrast, the charge response function does not have any specific structure for this interaction range. Finally, the electron concentration dependence of the zero sound velocity is discussed for the weak-coupling regime. The zero sound mode is shown to have a specific doping dependence that is associated with the existence of a hopping in the lattice.

Phase diagrams of the two-dimensional extended Hubbard model: a comprehensive functional renormalization group study

Arooj Aslam, Yuan-Yuan Xiang, Cheng-Wei Li +2 more

Abstract Using the singular-mode functional renormalization group method, we studied the doping-dependent phase diagram of the two-dimensional extended Hubbard model on square lattice. At half-filling, a variety of states strongly compete, including spin-density wave, charge-density wave, phase separation, as well as d -wave and s -wave superconductivity (SC). Upon electron doping, the system exhibits a strong preference for superconducting states. At slight dopings, the spin-density wave phase is strongly suppressed, and d -wave SC region expands into positive U , V region. At moderate dopings, a region of degenerated p -wave superconductivities emerge for positive U and negative V . Our results demonstrate how doping tunes the dominant fluctuations, suppressing density waves and stabilizing unconventional superconducting states in two dimensions.

Pseudogap and Spin Fluctuations in the Normal State of the Electron-Doped Cuprates

Bumsoo Kyung, V. Hankevych, A.-M. Daré +1 more

We present reliable many-body calculations for the $t\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{t}^{\ensuremath{'}}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}{t}^{\ensuremath{'}\ensuremath{'}}\mathrm{\text{\ensuremath{-}}}U$ Hubbard model that explain in detail the results of recent angle-resolved photoemission experiments on electron-doped high-temperature superconductors. The origin of the pseudogap is traced to two-dimensional antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations whose calculated temperature-dependent correlation length also agrees with recent neutron scattering measurements. We make specific predictions for photoemission, for neutron scattering, and for the phase diagram.
