Quantum Computation for Big Information Processing

Tawseef Ayoub Shaikh, Rashid Ali

Big data is a hot buzzword that has impacted every field nowadays. Big data applies to applications that are beyond storage, processing and analyzing capabilities of traditional processes and tools. Big data is the gold mine of data piled up and to mine it for useful insights, brands it both opportunistic and challenging at one go. The healthcare sector is the best example of big data, where data is not only produced in huge quantities but is very complex and diverse because of the varied formats of the data. In such a scenario, quantum computing offers promises of rescue by providing new features in information processing systems, particularly in big data analytics. In this study, we have proposed a framework of how the power of quantum computing can be used for solving the big data problem particularly focusing it on healthcare data sector. A brief review of quantum computing techniques is also carried in the form of literature review. The challenges, promises, future directions, and techniques of quantum computing in big data analytics are also highlighted.

Big data and quantum computation

Shuhao Wang, GuiLu LONG

With the explosion of big data, higher requirements for computational efficiency have emerged. Compared with classical computing, quantum computing possesses quantum parallelism due to the unique nature of quantum systems. It has been found that many classical algorithms can be accelerated using quantum computing. In addition to factorizing a large integer, quantum computers can be used for data processing and analysis. In recent years, two frontiers, i.e., big data and quantum computing have begun to merge. Though practical quantum computers have not yet been built, theoretical studies have made some important progress. In this review, we introduce the basic principles of quantum computing. As a representative example, we describe the Grover search algorithm and its important generalizations. Quantum machine learning is the entry point for the integration of big data with quantum computation. We review in detail, the applications of quantum computation in data mining, the main application of machine learning. Other aspects of quantum computing in big data are also briefly summarized.

PQ key-a novel key generation algorithm for processing big data using quantum computing

K.G. Kumar

This paper proposes combining the concepts of quantum computing and big data. The idea of using the concept of quantum computing for processing the big data is suggested. Quantum computing is the advanced computing technology where we think ahead of our conventional binary bits. This is based on the quantum physics which states that a material can be at more than one place at a time. This concept, when used in our conventional computing systems, will have the third bit called the superimposed bit that can be in two states at a time. The term big data is used to refer to the huge amounts of data collected. The data being collected is increasing exponentially. According to a study conducted by McKinsey Global Institute, the data volume is growing 40% every year; and with the increasing number of users and research areas, one can expect much more growth in the data volume. With this kind of growing data, the need arises for faster processing and analysis methods giving better performance to the end users and the analytics. In this paper, a new algorithm, named as PQ-Key, is proposed for processing the big data using quantum computing.
