Recovery of maximally entangled quantum states by weak-measurement reversal

Abstract

Abstract Maximal quantum entanglement provided by N00N states is a unique resource in the quest for the ultimate precision in physical measurements. Such states, however, are fragile and prone to decoherence. Even in weak-measurement schemes, as we demonstrate in this work, the phase super-resolution provided by N00N states is achieved at a cost of an N -fold enhancement of amplitude damping. Still, as the analysis presented here shows, a partial collapse of N00N states induced by weak measurements can be reversed, despite the dramatic, N -fold enhancement of amplitude damping, through appropriate reversal operations on the post-measurement state, enabling a full restoration of the Heisenberg-limit phase super-resolution of N00N states.

Entanglement recovery by weak measurement reversal in tripartite systems

Munsif Jan, Niaz Ali Khan

Entanglement protection from noisy environments is an essential task in practical quantum information and communication. In this paper, we investigate the entanglement recovery of an amplitude-damped tripartite GHZ state by a weak-measurement reversal procedure. In particular, we emphasize the key importance of the inequivalency of probability amplitudes of the tripartite system under the recovery technique. We explore the maximal and non-maximal tripartite entangled state scenarios under amplitude damping noise in the absence and presence of weak measurement reversal procedures. Importantly, the non-maximal entangled state turns out to be a good choice for the entanglement recovery via weak-measurement reversal procedure.

Environment-assisted qubit–qutrit entanglement restoration via weak measurement reversal

Yang Leng

Abstract Based on the quantum technique of environment-assisted measurement and reversal (EMR), we propose a scheme to restore the entanglement from amplitude damping decoherence. In particular, we examine two typical families of initially entangled qubit–qutrit states and derive the exact analytical expressions of the optimal final restoration, showing explicitly that the EMR does indeed can recovery qubit–qutrit entanglement. This sheds new light on the protection of high-dimensional quantum entanglement in complex quantum environment.

Improving metrological limit via weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal

Lijun Liu, Bo Qi, Shuming Cheng +1 more

Quantum parameter estimation is of fundamental importance in physics. Quantum resources, involving for instance entangled probes, offer a significant improvement in estimation precision over classical strategies for closed quantum systems. However, when noises such as decoherence are taken into account, the quantum gain may be jeopardized. In this paper, we show how the amplitude-damping decoherence degrades the estimation precision from the Heisenberg limit to the standard limit with the initial Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state being employed and demonstrate that the method of weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal can recover this estimation precision to the Heisenberg limit, even though at the price of a very low success probability.

Reversing entanglement change by a weak measurement

Qingqing Sun, M. Al-Amri, L. Davidovich +1 more

Entanglement of a system changes due to interactions with the environment. A typical type of interaction is amplitude damping. If we add a detector to monitor the environment and only select the no-damping outcome, this amplitude damping is modified into a weak measurement. Here we show that the entanglement change of a two-qubit state due to amplitude damping or weak measurement can be probabilistically reversed. For the amplitude-damping case, the entanglement partially recovers under most conditions. For the weak-measurement case, the recovery of the initial entangled state is exact. The reversal procedure involves another weak measurement, preceded and followed by bit flips applied to both qubits. We propose a linear optics scheme for the experimental demonstration of these procedures.

Protecting high-dimensional entanglement from decoherence via quantum weak measurement and reversal

Kun-Hong Feng, Yu‐Chi Chen, Ping Zhou

High-dimensional quantum communication plays an important role in long-distance quantum communication. It is shown that two-qubit quantum entanglement can be protected from amplitude damping decoherence. We study the effect of amplitude damping decoherence on two-qubit high-dimensional quantum entanglement. The negativity for high-dimensional quantum entanglement with or without quantum weak measurement and the reversal in amplitude damping decoherence are presented. We found that nonmaximally entangled state may have better performance than maximally entangled state in amplitude damping decoherence. Moreover, we show that arbitrary high-dimensional quantum entanglement can be protected from amplitude damping decoherence by weak measurement and the reversal. The results of our protocol are in agreement with previous analysis for the case of qubits and qutrits.

Environment-assisted high-dimensional quantum entanglement restoration via weak measurement reversal

Qiong Wang, Lan Xu, Wenjuan Li +1 more

Abstract Based on the quantum technique of environment-assisted measurement and reversal (EMR), we propose a scheme to restore the qutrit–qutrit entanglement from amplitude-phase damping decoherence. By solving the master equation, we get the exact analytical or numerical simulation expressions of the optimal final restoration, showing explicitly that the EMR does indeed restore the qutrit-qutrit entanglement to the original value. This sheds new light on the protection of high-dimensional quantum entanglement in a complex quantum environment.
