Abstract

We consider the generation of single-photon states with orbital angular momentum in the process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion in a nonlinear crystal placed in a cavity. For creating optical beams with an orbital angular momentum, a ring resonator with a Dove prism is proposed to be used.

Methods for beam shaping with nonzero orbital angular momentum are studied using diffraction optical elements with the purpose of developing a source of single-photon states based on spontaneous parametric down-conversion of light in the LiNbO 3 crystal in the cavity resonator. The probability of the coincidence of the number of photocounts in detecting signal and idle fields under pumping by a beam with the orbital angular momentum is simulated.

The process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion is a dependable source of high-dimensional orbital angular momentum-entangled bi-photon states. We observe, analyze and maximize the number of orbital angular momentum modes produced by the down-conversion nonlinear crystal and detected by our measurement apparatus.
