Atom-Lifetime of a Three-Level Atom in a StrongCircularly Polarized Electromagnetic field

Xiong Zhi-bin, Zeng Gao-jian

The energy level decay terms are introduced into the Schrdinger equation of a three-level atom in an electromagnetic field of circular polarization. By means of modulating frequency of a circularly polarized electromagnetic field and approximation of a strong laser, three special states of three kinds of three-level atom are discovered. Based on these special states, we further study the atom-lifetime of three-level atom in a circularly polarized electromagnetic field.

Atomic stabilization of electromagnetic field-strength and the gas-cell atomic clock

James C. Camparo

For nearly fifty years atomic resonances have been employed to stabilize electromagnetic field frequency. Here, an atom's dynamical "Rabi-resonance" is used to stabilize electromagnetic field-strength. Though the method is demonstrated with microwave fields, the technique could also be employed to stabilize optical fields via Rabi-resonances associated with electronic transitions in atoms or molecules.

Two-level Atom in a σ~+-σ~- Electromagnetic Field

Kalin Su

The system of an atom interacting with an electromagnetic field is very complicated. In this paper, we studied the system of a two-level atom interacting with a σ +-σ - electromagnetic field, and worked out the wave functions, the energy values and the center-of-mass momentum values of the atoms.[WT5HZ]
