Abstract

We propose a new ensemble of binary low-density parity-check codes with paritycheck matrices based on repetition codes and permutation matrices. The proposed class of codes is a subensemble of quasi-cyclic codes. For the constructed ensemble, we obtain minimum distance estimates. We present simulation results for the proposed code constructions under the (Sum-Product) iterative decoding algorithm for transmission over an additive white Gaussian noise channel using binary phase-shift keying.

Low-density parity-check codes based on steiner systems and permutation matrices

Fedor I. Ivanov, Victor Zyablov

An algorithm for generating parity-check matrices of regular low-density paritycheck codes based on permutation matrices and Steiner triple systems S(v, 3, 2), v = 2 m − 1, is proposed. Estimations of the rate, minimum distance, and girth for obtained code constructions are presented. Results of simulation of the obtained code constructions for an iterative “belief propagation” (Sum-Product) decoding algorithm applied in the case of transmission over a binary channel with additive Gaussian white noise and BPSK modulation are presented.

A matrix-theoretic approach for analyzing quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check codes

Qiuju Diao, Qin Huang, Shu Lin +1 more

A matrix-theoretic approach for studying quasi-cyclic codes based on matrix transformations via Fourier transforms and row and column permutations is developed. These transformations put a parity-check matrix in the form of an array of circulant matrices into a diagonal array of matrices of the same size over an extension field. The approach is amicable to the analysis and construction of quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check codes since it takes into account the specific parity-check matrix used for decoding with iterative message-passing algorithms. Based on this approach, the dimension of the codes and parity-check matrices for the dual codes can be determined. Several algebraic and geometric constructions of quasi-cyclic codes are presented as applications along with simulation results showing their performance over additive white Gaussian noise channels decoded with iterative message-passing algorithms.

Construction of Quasi-Cyclic LDPC Codes via Masking With Successive Cycle Elimination

Hengzhou Xu, Dan Feng, Rui Luo +1 more

In this letter, we study the construction of quasi-cyclic (QC) low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes by array dispersion and masking. We first propose a class of arrays of circulant permutation matrices (CPMs) of arbitrary size obtained by dispersion. Based on this class of arrays of CPMs, a class of QC-LDPC codes is constructed. For these resulting codes, we analyze their cycle structure and derive the numbers, which indicate how many cycles pass through each CPM in their parity-check matrices. Following the indication numbers with the order from largest to smallest, we replace the corresponding CPMs with zero matrices (ZMs) of the same size one by one until a targeted masking termination condition is satisfied. Then, the resultant arrays of CPMs and ZMs give a large class of QC-LDPC codes. Numerical results show that the codes constructed perform well over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel when decoded with the sum-product algorithm.

Performance Analysis and Design of (3,ρ) — Regular Quasi Cyclic LDPC Codes

Xu Xia, Moon Ho Lee, Choi Seung Je +1 more

In this paper we construct a novel family of (3,rho)-regular quasi-cyclic (QC) low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, derived from permutation theorem for Latin squares, when used over binary input additive white Gaussian noise (BIAWGN) channel. The codes have high code rate, girth absence of 4, good minimum distance, and sparse parity check matrices. They are designed to perform well when iteratively decoding with sum-product decoding algorithm and to allow low complexity encoding

Comparison of various constructions of binary LDPC codes based on permutation matrices

Victor Zyablov, Fedor I. Ivanov, В. Г. Потапов

Ensembles of low-density parity check codes based on permutation matrices are considered. Algorithms for generation of check matrices of such codes are proposed. The results of simulation of the obtained code constructions for an iterative belief propagation (sum-product) decoding algorithm applied in the case of transmission of a code word via a binary channel with an additive Gaussian white noise are presented.

Low-density parity-check codes based on the independent subgroups

Fedor I. Ivanov, Victor Zyablov, В. Г. Потапов

Two criteria of cyclic subgroups independence are proved. The ensemble of regular binary LDPC codes which are based on independent subgroups, is built. The condition of absence of the cycles of the length 4 is proved for the resulting code construction. The results of the received code constructions are presented for the iterative algorithm Sum-Product when the codeword is transmitted over channel with additive Gaussian white noise (AGWN).
