Abstract

We theoretically demonstrate the evanescent-field controlled entanglement modulation in a dielectric nanowire, emitters and Ag nanoparticle hybrid system. Modulation range of 0-0.75 has been achieved by varying incident field amplitude and detunings.

Evanescent-field-modulated two-qubit entanglement in an emitters-plasmon coupled system

Fan Zhang, Juanjuan Ren, Xueke Duan +3 more

Scalable integrated quantum information network calls for controllable entanglement modulation at subwavelength scale. To reduce laser disturbance among adjacent nanostructures, here we theoretically demonstrate two-qubit entanglement modulated by an evanescent field of a dielectric nanowire in an emitter-AgNP coupled system. This coupled system is considered as a nano-cavity system embedded in an evanescent vacuum. Through varying the amplitude of evanescent field, the concurrence of steady-state entanglement can be modified from 0 to 0.75. Because the interaction between emitters and the nanowire is much weaker than that inside the coupled system, the range of modulation for two-qubit entanglement is insensitive to their distance. The evanescent field controlled entangled state engineering provides the possibility to avoid optical crosstalk for on-chip steady-state entanglement.

Detuning-determined qubit-qubit entanglement mediated by plasmons: An effective model for dissipative systems

Fan Zhang, Dongxing Zhao, Ying Gu +3 more

We theoretically investigate a general scheme for determining quantum entanglement of two detuned quantum dots (QDs) mediated by plasmon nanoparticle for weakly driven dissipative systems. By adiabatically eliminating the field operators, an effective model is proposed to find the underlying mechanism for this determination. Two specific hybrid systems composed of two QDs and a metallic nanoparticle (MNP) are considered. In the QD-MNP-QD system, the concurrence maxima generated by the detunings are several times larger than those in the resonance condition because of the robust superposition between the two separated entangled states. However, in the MNP-QD-QD system, the detunings generally reduce entanglement because the dipole-dipole interaction strongly suppresses the superposition of the entangled states. Moreover, the plateau of large concurrence exists for a broad range of parameters in both cases. The scheme is robust to dissipative systems and paves the way to improve entanglement in quantum information devices at the nanoscale.

Plasmonic superradiance in metallo-dielectric nanohybrids

Pierre Fauché

Superradiance plasmonique dans des nanohybrides métallo-diélectriques Hybridization of quantum emitters and plasmonic nanostructures has attracted much attention over the last years, due to their potential use as plasmon-based nanolasersor to achieve long-range quantum bit entanglement. Recent theoretical studies suggest that the plasmonic field can induce efficient cross-talking between emitters and lead to the formation of collective superradiant states. In this thesis, we developed a theoretical modelable to analyse collective effects in large ensemble of dipoles coupled by an electromagnetic nanoresonator. We experimentally investigated the plasmon-mediated superradiance of organic emitters grafted at a well-controlled distance from a metal nanosphere at room temperature. We report on the measured decay rates of these hybrid structures at the ensemble and single object levels. We find that the decay rate increases i) with the number ofemitters and ii) as the spacing between the emitters and the metal core decreases, a direct and clear evidence of plasmonic superradiance. This trend was observed for two types of hybrid structures, differing both by the size of the metal core and the type of organic dye used as emitter. The observation of plasmonic superradiance at room temperature opens questions about the robustness of these collective states against decoherence mechanisms. This robustness is of major interest for potential applications of quantum systems at room temperature.

Quantum discord modulated by detuning in a plasmonic nanosystem

Fan Zhang, Dongxing Zhao, Xueyuan Hu +2 more

Abstract We demonstrate the impact of detunings on quantum discord between two qubits in a hybrid system composed of two quantum emitters (QEs) and a resonant Ag nanoparticle (AgNP). The dynamics and steady-state quantum discord in weak- and strong-driving regimes are both investigated. In these regimes, the existence of detunings between QEs can enhance quantum discord because of the superposition of entangled states. By the aid of the strong localized field of the AgNP, quantum discord of two QEs is effectively improved. Our protocol aims to not only complete the dynamics model of cavity-based quantum discord, but also pave a way to on-chip quantum information devices.
