1→N Beam Splitter of the N-Λ atomic Ensemble

Ying Liu

The atomic susceptibilities of the N-Λ atomic ensemble show that the EIT effect not always occur even if the full atomic resonance. The analytical results of the propagation equations exhibit that one beam can be splitter into N beams with different frequencies, where the amplitude and phase can be controlled. Moreover 1→N quantum beam splitter is produced, which can generate some multipartite entangled states.

Remote probabilistic controlled-NOT operation using atomic ensembles

Chao Han, Guang‐Can Guo

Controlled-NOT operation is an important unit of quantum computation. We propose an experimentally feasible scheme of remote controlled-NOT operation using entanglement between two atomic ensembles. The scheme involves laser manipulation of atomic ensembles, adjustable quarter- and half-wave plates, beam splitters, polarizing beam splitters and single-photon detectors, and well fits the status of the current experimental technology.

Multipartite entanglement preparation and quantum communication with atomic ensembles

We propose an experimentally feasible scheme to generate Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger type of maximal entanglement among three atomic ensembles, and show one of the applications, controlled secure direct communication. The scheme involves laser manipulation of atomic ensembles, quarter- and half-wave plates, beam splitters, polarizing beam splitters, and single-photon detectors, which are within the reach of current experimental technology.
