Abstract

In this work we study from both classical and quantum point of view the position dependent mass harmonic oscillator (PDMHO). Classically, we use the Legendre transformation to find the Hamiltonian of the system. Next, we define two functions, and , to simplify the hamiltonian of the PDMHO. By using the Poisson algebra we find the expressions for the position and moment. At last, by using a canonical transformation we relate the equations of the PDMHO to those of the simple harmonic oscillator (SHO). Quantically, we write the Hamiltonian of the PDMHO in terms of the operators and . Next, we consider that these operators satisfy the same algebra that those of the SHO. By assuming that both the classical and quantum PDMHO have the same form, we are able to find a simple form for the PDMHO Hamiltonian. Finally, by transforming the Schrödinger equation (SE) of the PDMHO into that of the SHO, we can write the wave function of the PDMHO in terms of that of the SHO. We will study two time-dependent systems, namely and , we observe that as , they tend to a simple harmonic oscillator. For each system we find the position and momentum (classical study), as well as the wave-function (quantum study). For both systems we analyze the the position e momentum uncertainty, the product uncertainty, the fisher information and Shannon entropy, for the ground state, as a function of the parameter.

Osciladores harmônicos acoplados dependentes do tempo

In this work we present the classical and quantum solutions of time-dependent coupled harmonic oscillators. In these systems the masses, frequencies and coupling parameter (k) are functions of time. Four systems are investigated. To obtain the classical solutions we use a coordinate and momentum transformations along with a canonical transformation to write the original Hamiltonian as the sum of two Hamiltonians of uncoupled harmonic oscillators with modified time-dependent frequencies and unitary masses. We find the analytical expression for position and velocity of each oscillator of the systems. To obtain the exact quantum solutions we use a unitary transformation and the Lewis and Riesenfeld invariant method. The wave functions obtained are written in terms of a c-number quantity () which is solution of the Milne-Pinney equation. For each system we solve the respective Milne-Pinney equation and discuss how the quantum fluctuations and the uncertainty product evolve with time.

Osciladores quânticos com massa dependente da posição

J. P. G. Nascimento, I. Guedes

Wesley do Nascimento Ferreira, Bruno Gomes Costa

O problema de um sistema quântico com massa efetiva dependente da posição tem sido recentemente introduzido através de uma estrutura algébrica deformada baseada na estatística de Kaniadakis. [Journal of Mathematical Physics, 61, 082105 (2020)].

Rényi and Tsallis information entropies for a harmonic position-dependent mass

Dorcas A. Addo, Daniel Sabi-Takou, Eugene Adjei +1 more

In this paper, we study Renyi and Tsallis information entropies for a Hamiltonian system with position-dependent mass confined in harmonic oscillator potential. Gegenbauer polynomials are used to obtain the position eigenfunction of such a system, and the modified Bessel function of the second kind is used to determine the equivalent momentum eigenfunction. By means of probability densities of both representations, we analytically and numerically evaluate the Heisenberg-like uncertainty of this system. Because the Renyi and Tsallis information entropies in position representation are described by integral functionals of the Gegenbauer polynomials, these quantities are much more difficult to calculate. To get around this problem, we evaluate these information entropies at the system s asymptotical limit, which corresponds to the behavior of an undeformed harmonic oscillator. Nevertheless, no approximation method is used to obtain the Tsallis and Renyi information entropies in momentum representation. In both representations, we find that these information entropies approach the Shannon entropy when the entropic parameter alpha-> 1 and are closed to the results of similar models of the literature. Finally, we evaluate the related entropic uncertainty relations numerically to validate the latter obersevations.

The harmonic oscillator and the position dependent mass Schrodinger equation: isospectral partners and factorization operators

J. Morales, Gerardo Ovando, José Juan Peña +4 more

One of the most important scientific contributions of Professor Marcos Moshinsky has been his study on the harmonic oscillator in quantum theory vis à vis the standard Schrödinger equation with constant mass [1].However, a simple description of the motion of a particle interacting with an external environment such as happen in compositionally graded alloys consist of replacing the mass by the so-called effective mass that is in general variable and dependent on position. Therefore, honoring in memoriam Marcos Moshinsky, in this work we consider the position-dependent mass Schrodinger equations (PDMSE) for the harmonic oscillator potential model as former potential as well as with equi-spaced spectrum solutions, i.e. harmonic oscillator isospectral partners. To that purpose, the point canonical transformation method to convert a general second order differential equation (DE), of Sturm-Liouville type, into a Schrödinger-like standard equation is applied to the PDMSE.In that case, the former potential associated to the PDMSE and the potential involved in the Schrödinger-like standard equation are related through a Riccati-type relationship that includes the equivalent of the Witten superpotential to determine the exactly solvable positions-dependent mass distribution (PDMD) m(x).Even though the proposed approach is exemplified with the harmonic oscillator potential, the procedure is general and can be straightforwardly applied to other DEs.
