Abstract

The need of understanding and teaching about wave-particle duality if light with gets more and more apparent in the background of the attention of modern physics. As early as the beginning of twentieth Century, Einstein dared to "deny" the development of a very perfect light electromagnetic theory, so that the quantum of light can be developed. In 1924, De Broglie put forward wave-particle duality if light to other micro particles and the concept of matter wave, pointed out that all micro particle has wave-particle duality. This is a very abstract concept for students, most college physics teaching all lack of demonstration about particle duality of light. The present article aims to contribute to demonstrate the wave-particle duality of light at the same time using a simple way based on fiber optical tweezers. It is hoped that useful lesson can be absorbed so that students can deepen the understanding of the particle and wave properties of light. To complement the demonstration experiment for this attribute light has momentum.

TEACHING ATTEMPT TO INTRODUCE WAVE-PARTICLE DUALITY IN QUANTUM MECHANICS

Chengyuan Zhang, Guangzhi Xu, Yijie LI +2 more

Quantum mechanics is one of basics theories of modern physics, and it is also a theory established with some debates of assumptions. However, in the teaching process, if the assumption of wave-particle duality is directly given, it will be particularly difficult for students to understand. Therefore, based on the teaching practice and previous research, we assume that light corresponds to a kind of real particle starting from the classical electromagnetic theory, according to the description methods of wave optics and geometric optics, and the form of functional equations. Subsequently, employing Planck's quantum conditions, we discuss the connection between the wave nature and particle nature of light. And then the Planck-Einstein relation and the de Broglie relationship are derived, which reflect the wave-particle duality of light and real particle.

The essence of light

Physicist Zheng shengming

In the process of exploring the essence of light, Newton initially agreed with the particle interpretation of light while Huygens argued for the wave theory. Hence, these two theories had been disputed in Newton's time. In the beginning people accepted the particle theory, but after Thomas Young's experiment and Augustin Jean Fresnel's experiment, people began to accept the wave theory. Until Einstein proposed the quanta concept, which was later called photon, and, even later, De Broglie proposed the wave nature of matter, subsequently, people began using particle-wave duality to explicate all phenomena in micro world. Thus here appears a paradox: how can one particle exist in two forms? To solve this enigma, I have done some experiments; discover that moving photons create force; this effect reveal the phenomenon of light wave property - the inference fringes is caused by force which moving photons produced. The essence of light is particle but not particle-wave duality.

In the study of quantum remote sensing, quantum spectral imaging. Since the beginning of 2001, after three stages of basic theory, scientific experiment and key technology research, has made breakthrough progress and innovative results. With the deepening of the research work and needs, some basic theoretical issues and cutting-edge technical problems need to be explored and studied. This paper discusses wave-particle duality of light is one of the important content. In more than and 100 years, wave-particle duality of light as research has made important progress. But the wave-particle duality of light is like what? Wave-particle duality of light like mechanism is what? Has been the most intense debate on the issue of Optics and physicists. In this paper, the author firstly summarizes the wave-particle duality of light development history and present situation of the research study, describes the research ideas of wave-particle duality of light; on this basis, the author puts forward the application of lightstring concept focuses on the wave-particle duality of light phenomenological characteristic geometry shape and movement of the content; describes the wave-particle duality of light like generated string-light effect mechanism. Two Crucial Experiments on the Nature of Light: Beyond the Bounds of Wave-Particle Duality

Christian C. Emedolu, Cardinal Ihejirika, Basil Sunday Nnamdi

The wave-particle duality of light has been hanging over the clouds of science as an insuperable mystery. Debates have gone on for centuries as to which of the two aspects of light best represents the natural property of light. On the one hand, the particle theory of light camp made its own submissions a long time ago with many experimental demonstrations to confirm its position. On the other hand, the wave theory of light camp did organize or face some experiments to corroborate its own position. But then, a middle ground interpretation was shoveled-in by Niels Bohr during the second decade of the 20th Century. For him, the two aspects of light are complementary and Louis de Broglie popularized it, despite the halting beginnings of the complementarity Thesis. A double-slit experiment was, however, organized to show that light has these dual aspects. The central thesis of this paper is that though light exhibits these dual aspects, it is fundamentally a wave. The paper adopts the historiographical approach in navigating this lingering issue of the nature of light in the history of science.

Las ondas de materia propuestas por Broglie.

Jesús Unturbe

Louis de Broglie put forward the idea of wave-particle duality in 1923-24, less than two years before the advent of Quantum Mechanics. This last theory assumes that duality, but in a more abstract and counter-intuitive manner than de Broglie did. In this article the wave behavior of matter is presented in a didactic way following de Broglie´s ideas. This kind of presentation may (hopefully) be helpful to better understand the quantum features in a more intuitive way. It is shown that this wave mechanics, in the framework of the theory of relativity, is compatible with Planck´s quantum and explains as well the particle´s dynamics, provided the uncertainty relations are properly incorporated. The main difficulty with this view lies in its interpreting the wave as a non-local entity
